Kayla, I moved your post to this thread since there's a lot of similar situations as what you're asking including this post from the first page. My wife is not AF, but she is an RN, so I'll throw my two cents in. I know a few people who were married AF couples. Most of them were flyers, but I actually know one couple that was pilot and dental technician (somewhat similar to your situation). If you want to PM me with your personal e-mail address, I can contact them and see if they would be interested in providing you some answers. A lot of similar questions and answers throughout this thread, but the general consensus is that the AF will try to make it happen but they will not guarantee anything (and the term is "Join Spouse"). I would recommend against you joining the AF for several reasons. - A nursing degree will give you the opportunity to work in a very broad variety of jobs. While you do have a good chance of Join Spouse considerations in the medical field, I don’t think that commissioning is necessary to work as a nurse for the AF. There are plenty of nursing GS (civilian) jobs out there, and if there isn’t one available at the base that your husband goes to, then you always have the option of applying to the civilian hospital in town. My wife worked as GS nurse in Lakenheath, and now works for a civilian hospital. - As a civilian, you do your job on base and that’s it. If you are an officer, you are now eligible for all the perks that come with that role to include deployments and AEFs. Unless you are on an AEF cycle aligned with your husband, he could leave for four months and return two days after you’ve stepped out the door for your four month deployment (I work with a maintenance NCO who had that exact thing happen to him). If you do get assigned to the same AEF and have kids, you'll have to find somebody to watch them for four months (kids are not a trump card for deployments). - Even if you are able to work all of your assignments to the same base as your husband, you will rarely PCS with him unless you can get your report dates aligned. When you arrive at a base, you incur a Time on Station commitment that you cannot alter without special circumstances (which join spouse is not). It’s not a big deal, but as you know or will soon discover, PCSing is much easier if done together. I would research more information on civilian nursing opportunities within the AF before you get committed to commissioning.

I'm sure it differs slightly from jet to jet. In the F-15E, depressing the rudder pedals without engaging the nosewheel steering will give you up to 30 degrees of turn - this is generally enough on wide turns. Depressing the nosewheel steering button extends that to 45 degrees, which will give the jet a pretty tight turn. Using differential braking is allowed, using it generally varies on pilot and situation. I generally only use it if I need to slow down while turn, not for the actual turn.

Assuming you're talking about a personal passport, you should be able to, but there's not really a need to. You can get the application online and then take it to the post office to submit it. The only reason you would need to go to MPF would be to get an official passport (which I doubt you need as a cadet).

Agree with all previous. Whether you HAVE to have one depends on where you go. When I went to the Heath, I was told by Seymour Johnson MPF that we had to have an official passport - both myself and my wife got one through MPF, along with a personal passport (also through MPF, but we paid out of pocket). Other than the PCS flight, my wife never used her official passport. My official passport went into my deployment folder and stayed there for three years. Some guys in the squadron did not have an official passport when they arrived.

I can't answer the allergy waiver question, but I can tell you that fighter aircraft are pressurized. In T-38s and F-15s it's outside pressure up to 8000MSL, then it maintains 8000MSL cabin pressure to 23K, then it increases in a percentage of your outside pressure above 230.

I think that is an outstanding idea. Putting money down on system deliveries is gay. We all still do visual deliveries, put your money down there. Your scoring system is flawed - who takes the money when two guys foul but nobody shacks? At any rate, it's not about the money, it's about the principle of enjoying the competition. Consider the handful of quarters your tiny silver medals (but nobody says you can't brief a non-standard bomb-bet). If it ain't broke....

That's not what he's asking. He's not asking if being cross town would hurt his ranking, he's asking if it would benefit. My response would be no. While it does show motivation, I don't think your ranking would be increased just because you had to travel a far distance. However, it it came up to a tie-breaker of rating the guy who attended ROTC at his own school and the guy who travelled an hour, I would give the higher ranking to the guy who put for the effort to make the commute. I went cross town for ROTC - though only about a 20 minute drive. There was a guy who travelled an hour, and as far as I could tell he didn't get any sort of favoritism. GCL In terms of your original question, your OM would obviously be better if your difference in ranking was different as you stated between the two Dets... The problem here is that you're assuming that when you go from a smaller school to a larger school, your relative OM will be higher amongst those people simply because there are more of them. That's a pretty big assumption to make...unless maybe you transfer to University of Alabama.

I'm sure it won't be easy (nothing with MPF ever is), but they should be able to do it...especially if they screwed it up to begin with. They're not re-doing your orders, they are simply doing up an additional form that says your original orders need to be altered. It's a Form 973 - the part you're concerned with is section 5 ("Item XXX as reads...is amended to read...") Print that form and take it to MPF with your original orders and supporting documentation (from TMO and whatever else you have). As always, MPF will probably stonewall you less if you act like you've researched the problem and know what you're talking about. -

Go back to this post on page 5. Short answer, it's doable, but your DLA may be at a reduced rate. What do you mean by constructed cost? If your orders are jacked up, go back to MPF, explain the situation, and have them amend your orders. -
This wouldn't be done by a flight doc, it would like be done off-base (unless you're at a base with a full up hospital like Wilford Hall) and would fall under TRICARE coverage. I don't know the answer for sure, but I poked around the site and the only thing even remotely close I could find was about stomach stapling. The short answer for that was that it would be covered if it was done for health reasons. If you don't get a definite answer here, recommend you call the TRICARE office on base and ask them.

As sky king said, it's not time in service, it's rank - so a Capt (or 1Lt close to pinning on Capt) will not be FAIP'd, but a new O-2E could be (they started that in about 1997). I believe you said somewhere that your husband is prior E, so he could potentially be FAIP if he is not close to pinning on Captain. That's lame - especially if you're going to a T-1/T-38. You just finished UPT, I would hope they would consider you proficient in flying the jet and you should definitely be proficient on the general knowledge and systems knowledge. They proficiency advanced me through all but a couple of my initial rides prior to my first Form 8, and they prof advanced me through a couple of the instructor rides.

While he was CINC USAFE, said assbag demanded that he get a front seat Strike Eagle ride. He bypassed all the rules and regulations that encompass a SOC course and ended up flying in the front seat. Un-f***-ing believable.

Ditto everything from Kayla and egochecks with a couple notes - I may be misreading this, but you don't set a date for your TMO shipment to be delivered until it has actually arrived. They will give you an estimated shipping time and TMO will contact you when it has arrived. It's no problem if you have it shipped to your UPT base prior to ASBC and it sits there for weeks until you arrive. While going to Sheppard first may be easier in terms of getting your wife settled and getting a house, you need to make sure it is documented as such on your orders. The original poster (hawg030) had TDY enroute on his orders (home of record to IFS, then UPT). If this is the case, TMO will not get you a ticket to Sheppard, then Maxwell, then back to Sheppard (this would be a PCS followed by TDY).

In your case, it won't matter whether you get married before or after your commissioning (unless you somehow get your det to put you into DEERS). Your information - DEERS and TDY - will not be input until you are at your PCS base (I'm assuming Pueblo doesn't have an MPF). At that time, MPF will input your information and finance will back-pay you appropriately. If you are not accomplishing official duties prior to IFS (therefore making you on 'active duty'), it doesn't matter whether you get married one month or one day before IFS - your paycheck starts when you get to IFS. Yes, assuming you are married before the TDY. 11 pages of IFS information Again, I wouldn't think they have a DEERS at IFS, but it doesn't matter whether you inprocess there or your UPT base. Just bring your wedding certificate and they'll input the info into DEERS. If you are married when you start active duty, then you will be (back) paid appropriately. No way. If you're talking about inprocessing to the Air Force (DEERS) - that shouldn't take more than a couple hours; it's just a bunch of paperwork to be filled out. If you're talking about inprocessing to a specific base, that shouldn't take more than a couple days. Normally you can get an advance payment prior to a PCS. You basically get a lump sum payment which you can repay over the course of the next 12 months. Since you don't currently have a finance office, I don't know for sure how you would do that, but there has to be a way. If nobody here has an answer (try to PM 'Finance Guy'), I would recommend calling to the finance office at your UPT base.

I would disagree here. My 0.02 - if the beer light in the bar ain't on, hold off. I had a bud who, not on the schedule to fly, had a beer at the O'Club during lunch a few years back. Apparently a shoe clerk saw a guy in a flight suit drinking during duty hours and called straight to the DO. Needless to say, said bag-wearer got a full-up ass chewing. As lame as it sounds, I say don't pick up a beer unless you're in the squadron bar or in the O'Club. With all the BS that the media and shoe clerks seem to pick up on these days, they don't need extra fodder from somebody in uniform throwing back a harmless drink in uniform. They don't understand us...their views on are different. They see somebody in a flight suit drinking and it can be misperceived as something completely different.

I don't have any specific info to answer your question, but you may want to read the AFPC Civilian Employment page. It has general information on GS jobs and civilian hire. I would also recommended looking at USA Jobs (mentioned above), which is were specific job openings are posted by base. Type Hurlburt or Eglin into the search and it will display all the openings (you can refine the search to a specfic field).
