Have you tried here - NGA Flight Information File The pubs are in the links to the left

Have you tried earplugs and an eyepatch? I find the earplugs help me get to sleep by killing any background noise (air conditioner, street noise, wind) and the eyepatch tends to help me sleep in when the sun comes up. Don't use the standard flying yellow earplugs - they get extremely uncomfortable after five or six hours - but a pack from WalGreens or somewhere of the like. As far as the list you have, most all are good things. Here's my two cents on a couple I'm told that aerobic exercise within a couple hours of bed is not good because it tends to get your cardiovascular system going, which will prevent you from winding down. Over I don't recommend getting into the habit of taking things like Benadryl or Tylenol PM - partly due to the potential of having to rely on it to get to sleep, and because you won't be able to take it once you're flying.

Most of the Red Carpet stuff has been covered. As far as the number of people, there generally is no limit as long as he has an accurate cranium count that he can give the club. While I was an IP at Columbus, they actually had an award given out to the student who had the largest number of visitors at the graduation.

It doesn't get you kicked out the cockpit permanently, it's just one tour. It's abnormal to have a full AF career without taking at least one tour out of the cockpit. Personally, I'd rather stay flying and prefer not to hang out with the Army dudes, so if I had a choice between the two, I'd go back to UPT.

I was inprocessing at RAF Lakenheath, but I've talked to plenty of dudes who were flying. There was a guard transmission for everybody to RTB and contact the SOF. On contact with the SOF, he told everybody to get home as fast as possible without going super and arm their CMD, but wouldn't tell them why. Everybody said they knew something bad had happened, but nobody realized how bad it was until they got back to the squadron and saw it on TV.

I think everybody here has gotten so far spun up about the (accurately described) witch hunt that they’re putting blinders onto the possibility of Whitestar being anything but a fake. Any self-respecting pilot would take offense to being called a fake, internet or not. He provided a .mil email, to which the response was “well, that doesn’t prove anything” No, he wasn’t saying anybody was trying to “set him up,” he was saying that somebody else from his office was posting as well. As far as posting outside of business hours, that was probably done at home. The IP address that is logged for registration is only the address from where you registered. I don’t know about the Corvette Forum, but Baseops logs the IP address from where you register. Administrators can dig into your profile and see all the IP addresses where you post from. I would imagine the ‘outside office hours’ posts would be a different IP address. No, I really don’t think it is. He was called out, he provided a good deal of information to include names of people for anybody who wishes to contact. Refer to my first response to Fuse above – any self-respecting pilot would take offense and offer proof. Past that, I don’t blame him for telling everybody to get f***ed. Not to say he is on the same level, but I could see our crusty old godfather Rainman doing the same thing in his early days; offering up info to prove he’s legit, then telling guys to pound sound if they didn’t believe him. Yes, but your missing the point that he registered with, and e-mailed me from his work address. Take a look at the picture Now take a closer look at the name in the picture The name on his military address is the same as the name in the plaque. I admit, it’s an odd coincidence that the posts of Whiterock and Dimestore are intermingled with the obviously fake Blackstar, but Whiterock has proven that at least part of his story is true. Whiterock, I do believe that an answer to those requested questions would easily quiet the crowds. Indeed. I've got far more faith in Whitestar being legit than Scribe. An egg, seriously? Time for the witchhunt to shift...fight's on!

While I can't verify any of Whiterock's stories, I have verified that he has a valid .mil address. To play devil's advocate in his defense to some of the posts - Mode 4 is IFF. Aim vs AIM is not really that big of a deal. He was using an extreme example of an aircraft accelerating straight in the vertical. Lift is caused by the relative wind over the camber of a wing. Without thrust to provide that relative wind, there can be no lift. I think that's the point he was trying to make. Again, I have nothing to validate Whiterock's story - and it does seem odd that he and Blackwell posted from the same location. But I do have a picture of my coffee mug on my desk right next to my UPT picture (as you can see, I was promoted quickly and was in fact a lawyer, a doctor, and the SVS SQ/CC).

The only people who call it the Fighting Falcon are the media, ten-year-old kids, and other fighter pilots who are making fun of the gay name that the AF gave the jet. As far as the guy - F-16 pilot and AF lawyer. I doubt it, but stranger things have happened. Major select at 26? Impossible. As HerkDerka said, call the douche out just like they did with Princess. Post a link to one of his threads and/or his name and we'll roll over and do it for you.

Good call on the smiley emoticons - I just killed three this morning and they all had smileys. One additional item for moderators -- If you delete a spam post, go into the poster's warning section and click on "disable posting ability permanently". If you have any trouble doing that, PM me (or Baseops) with the user name so we can delete their account.

That's exactly what I did. I wore my mess dress, best men (college buddies) all wore tuxedos, and saber bearers (obviously all AF), wore their mess dress.
-
That's a great idea - take a group of guys who have thrown down hundreds of dollars on a perfectly suitable formal uniform and make them thrown down more money on a tuxedo. They're AF awards - 90% of them are worthless. Anybody who cares about how many medals he has on his chest needs to check his priorities.
-
Absolutely not. You earned 'em (as gay as some of them may be), wear 'em.

This has nothing to do with flying, but it's accesible from work, so I recommend you forward it to 69 of your closest .mil friends who have loud speakers. The humor is not so much in the presentation, but in trying to turn it off. 80s Rock - You've Been Warned! Hint: Windows Task Manager

Ironic. I was in 97-10. This was our patch.

Flight commanders are generally responsible for assignment night. I've never seen this be anything much more complex than some sort of silly event that involves drinking. Flight commanders, Protocol, and the class SRO (along with students assigned individual tasks) are responsible for graduation. While spouses are not responsible for anything, they can help out. From three years of UPT graduations I don't recall any spouses helping out with the graduation, but there are generally 2-3 of them that help out with the FTU graduations. Decorations are generally the stuff they put together (they stuff most guys could care less about). Nobody has to do shadow boxes. When I went through, everybody did them individually as desired - not a great idea since it's easier to do a group order with a similar design. A couple recent FTU spouses had a great idea - they contacted all the spouses and contacted me (a Flt/CC at the time) to get contact info for parents of anybody in the class who wasn't married. They explained they were going to make shadowboxes for everybody in the class as a surprise and got the funds from the spouses or parents. They got the hero shots from the guy in the class who took them for everybody (assuming they were going to be used for the graduation ceremony) and put in a mass order. A couple hours prior to graduation, they set them up in the entrance hallway - cool surprise for everybody as they entered to building.

I'm not a heavy guy, but I'll I'll take a stab at this Did somebody actually tell you that you can't go? The training is a TDY (Temporary Duty) vice a PCS (Permanent Change of Station) because it is less than six months. You have a daily lodging allowance and, since billeting at Lackland is available, that amount is probably around $30 a day - not enough to get anything decent off base. To that extent, most wives don't want to sit in a hotel room for six months, so they just stay home. If you want to go, you can go. It's not boot camp, you can stay in his room. Again, something less than six months if it's a TDY. For a better estimate he can call the 733 TRS Student Support Flight Administration: 210-671-1332/4907 Sure there is. It's a formal course, there will be a specific start date and (assuming it's not too much different than the fighter FTU) there will be a graduation date. He may not finish exactly on that date, but it's a pretty good estimation. Recommend you browse through info on the 433 Training Squadron links and download the student handbook.

Awesome info so far, keep it coming. One thing I can't figure out is the actual configuration of the base(s)/post(s). I read something about "four facilities" that seemed to imply there were four different 'compunds'. Anybody smart on the facilities? Also, how are the (DoD?) schools there? I'll have a first grader by the time I get there.

I'm currently looking at a choice between Ramstein (USAFE) and Stuttgart (EUCOM). I've been to Ramstein many times and am familiar with the area, but know nothing about Stuttgart or EUCOM other than what I've been reading on Wikipedia and globalsecurity.org. If anybody here has been there - preferably in the last 6-9 years, I'd appreciate your thoughts on the location, culture, community, etc.

I haven't gotten wooden models through Asian Imports (https://www.asianimportsinc.com/home.asp), but I've gotten the wooden briefing sticks. Very good quality and great detail. They'll paint tail flashes and logos on the jet if you send them a digital picture.

PilotWannaBe, you're right -- I think your IPs should be counseled on this matter. Why don't you PM me with your real name, base, and class number and I'll get in touch with some of your IPs. I'll make sure they are all aware of your plight as a UPT student and ask them to consider your feelings and have them take it easy on you. Choke yourself, SIE immediately, and go sign up for finance OIC.

Do a search on allergies. As far as motion sickness, it shouldn't be a problem. If you get motion sickness at UPT, the aerospace physiology shop has a tip-top program to spin it out of you.
