  1. Hoser I believe you are correct. I talked to the Mike at SheppardAir tonight....he said that the whole thing is about 90% straightened out as of now, but there is still a few small things that the FAA hasn't ironed out. I'd shoot him an e-mail and ask him. Your biggest problem is going to be that you have to visit a FSDO to get the actual rating (not sure about taking the tests from your current location either)....he said that you have to visit a FSDO in person to do any certificate action, so either way, you're going to have to be back here in the US before you will be able to get your updated tickets. Also, to anyone interested, I'm going to take the CFII test Thursday morning after prepping with the SheppardAir software. I'll let you know if it works.....though I'm sure it will since it was so great for my MilComp test.
  2. Updated info from SheppardAir: https://www.sheppardair.com/milip.htm Read that, and also click on the "Click here for CFIMIL Fact Sheet."
  3. Steve...empty out your PM container. You're missing out on potential sales, including mine!
  4. One slight variation......I was told a few weeks ago that the requirements for WIC had changed from 9 years to 8 years commissioned time (I can't find anything here at home to verify that either way). If so, it's going to make going to WIC as a FAIP pretty much in possible. 12 months UPT 4 months PIT 36 months FAIP tour 2 months IFF 8 months RTU That's going to put you at 5 years, 2 months already...add in casual and PCS time and you're looking at at least 6 years in service already (when I start my ops tour I'll be at 6 years, 5 months). To get MR, 2/4 FLUG, IPUG, and selected for WIC in 1.5 - 2 years.....good luck with that. Other than that, being a FAIP is a good deal. I'd do it again (sts) in a heartbeat....and I did not choose to be one.
  5. I thought those went to dudes from the unit, not AD. Bad gouge on my part. Oh well....not the 1st time I've been wrong!
  6. I think it's been almost a year since the last one. I was hoping for one in my drop.....no luck. Yes, those 4 you listed are the only ones doing this program.
  7. Techsan If you both use Skype on your computer, to call each other won't cost you anything. Just like AIM or Windows Messenger. The costs come in when you call a land line, or you get a land line number to be called on.
  8. Huggy What does the current U-2 deployment rate look like?
  9. Toro Don't much about Vonage, but have you looked into Skype? Pretty much everyone I know that is overseas or has just returned has Skype. You can pay something like $40 bucks a year and have a local telephone number in whatever area code you want. Then, all incoming calls to you are free, and all outgoing calls are something like 7 cents to connect and then 2 cents a min after that (depending on the country...those are the rates for Italy). Or if you have a spouse that you're calling all the time, they can get Skype too and its totally free. Worth looking into... 1) Even though we're not overseas, we use it as our home phone now.....I've only had 2 or 3 calls where I could tell a difference in quality vs a regular land line. And I've never had a problem talking to an overseas friend. 2) I think the rates are different, and they are on their website. 3) This part sucks.....all you can do is send an e-mail and they reply within 72 hours. 4) ? 5) No
  10. Thread related question.....any tips/lessons learned before you throw your vehicle on the bo-at? Also, the paper suggests to protect the undercarriage....thoughts on how to do this?
  11. I deleted posts. Less talk about the SIB. It varies from the AIB. If you're interested and have SIB access, then check it out.
  12. The Breitling B-1s look great....but I can't find them anywhere. One site said they quit making them, and that the Airwolf is the replacement to it. Is the B-1 still available in Europe?
  13. Went to a Gomer roll call a mere 3 weeks ago and drank w/ LtCol Bouley. Didn't get to know him too well, but from what I could tell he was a great dude and a great leader who was well-respected by those in both the 64th & the 65th. Nickel on the grass....
  14. Yikes! https://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2052559/posts Nice job by the crew!
  15. Someone told me this last week, and I thought I'd check with some of you heavy drivers to see if there's any truth to it. Say I wanted to fly space-a out of Travis to Hawaii, and I knew a crew-member at Travis. I could theoretically call that crew member and get listed on the crew manifest....that way I wouldn't have to fight the space-a crowds. Possible, or did this dude not know what he was talking about? I don't know anything about how crew manifests work so I thought I'd ask the experts....
  16. ....and the blues that go under said Cardigan! Edited to add: YOUHAVEGOTTOBEFVCKINGKIDDINGME! Techsan--you have got to get ahold of his kid and get his pops to tell the OG that the scarves are ridiculous. Somebody spill it.....what base/ops group is this?
  17. Dude, the above processes only take a few days at most (the course is online). You'll get it just as fast that way as going out and buying it.
  18. Are Buffs gounded right now?
  19. Did anyone that e-mailed Senior Master Shoeclerk Kost get a reply from him?
  20. I was wondering the same thing. Should've been flying the Tweet! You couldn't overspeed that plane headed straight down from 30K feet!
  21. The 61st is a bunch of fags. OK, not really.....just wanted to say that since they're taking our jets. They won't be getting the 63rd's jets until April or so of next year when the 63rd closes. The 63rd still has another B-course to put through that doesn't even start flying for a couple more months. Sorry to tell you, but you'll still be in the old Blk 25s.
  22. I don't jump, but I can tell you about the schedule. RTU won't be any worse than UPT (with the exception of the 1st 3 weeks). If you had time to do that on the weekends at UPT, you'll be fine here.
  23. I've heard that a DG at SOS is almost a guarantee for ACSC in residence, which is almost a guarantee for LtCol (esp as a pilot). Thoughts?
  24. That sounds semi-complicated. If that doesn't work, PM me and I can give you the e-mail address of the chick at KRND who enrolls people in the program.
  25. M2 (and anyone else) What are your thoughts on AMU's degrees? Obviously they'll work well for "checking the container" for the Air Force, and I know that they are accredited, but what do you think civilian employees will think about having a degree from there? They're about the only place I've found so far where I don't have to worry about pre-reqs & also the cost above what the AF pays is very minimal, so they're very attractive in that regard. Also, in this mega-merged thread, C-21 Pilot asked about the Blue Chip award....while I'm not looking to go to school only right now (I'm almost in the CAF, finally!) just curious what my options are later in life. Anyone know any rated dudes that have actually used it?
