  1. This is a great thread! So you're saying that an extra 2 words are congesting the radios? It doesn't take me, or most pilots, very long to say "good morning" "afternoon" "evening"...etc. I disagree with you there. Being a little friendly can help for a few minutes later when you ask for direct or an altitude change. I'm an AETC kid, and don't claim to have been in the "real world" yet, but in T-37s and T-38s, we always call for clearance before engine start. I still don't give a rats a*s if they clear me for engine start, and I'm not going to study my route either, but I don't have the gas to wait around if my flight plan isn't in the system.
  2. They're at Standiford. The runways at Bowman aren't long enough to even land a tweet on (I think the longest one was 4.5K) much less at T-38 which requires 8K.
  3. A-10, F-15C & E, and F-16, B-1, B-2(obviously) and B-52 are all a PCS. PIT is a TDY (unless you're at Sheppard...then you're already here!) Don't know about heavies......I believe they are all TDYs though.
  4. https://public.fairchild.amc.af.mil/336trg/main/index.htm Here's the official website for school.....it tells you all you need to bring.
  5. Fiance, girlfriend, mistress...they're all the same in the eyes of the Air Force. Until you've gotten married, it's highly unlikely that the Air Force will do anything like that to help you get a Joint Spouse assignment. You're going to have to get married, even if its just a justice-of-the-peace type wedding to get any help from mother blue. [ 27. April 2005, 19:56: Message edited by: ENJJPT IP ]
  6. My best friend got a waiver during ROTC for his color-blindness and got his FC1. Then, he got to Brooks and they DQ'd him for color-blindness..?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
  7. An IP could land and stop in 2K all day long... but I wouldn't trust a student to! 2K feet for takeoff is an entirely different story however......
  8. Razorback is here at Sheppard, and here we do basic contact, instruments, low-level, then its up to the Flight Commander and Scheduler as to whether we do formation or advanced contact, or both. Personally, I think its bad for the students to be flying them at the same time, and it's certainly a b*tch taking 2 checkrides in the same week. Right now, as the scheduler, I pushed my guys through the 1st block of formation, and now they are flying advanced contact and won't get back to the last 11 formation rides until they've taken the advanced contact checkride.

    I thought he flew MH-53s?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
  10. I few years ago I saw a pay chart that showed what your military pay is equal to in the civilian world after they throw in the housing benefits, BAS, allowances, etc.....anybody know where to find that? And yes, I did google it...might just be using the wrong words...
  11. The best part about it all----you won't get FAIPed!
  12. If done properly, you can pack a tweet down like you wouldn't believe. You can even fit a set of golf clubs in there if you know what you're doing. I always take a regular size gym bag with me......it fits perfect behind my seat, and a pair or 2 of shoes that go under the bag. The student (or 2nd IP) can use the right nose compartment and fit almost 3 backpacks worth of stuff in there. Sure, its no TOne, but you can easily fit in the amount of clothes you'll need for the weekend.
  13. Who deleted the snail post? That was funny! [ 23. February 2005, 12:26: Message edited by: ENJJPT IP ]
  14. It's 36 months from the day you take your last PIT checkride at ENJJPT..thats why I busted my a** off to finish on Jun 30 instead of 1 Jul last year....that 1 day bought me 1 less month until I finish my FAIP assignment.
  15. Ha! Used to be....however, we just had a Tweet FAIP pin on Capt while he was deployed for 4 months over in the desert. Had something to do with safety.....so even the FAIPs aren't safe anymore.....
  16. He's probably talking about overall assignments, not track select. Our assignment night works like any other base w/ T-38s......
  17. Thats awesome! I will definately be using that in the near future.......
  18. Mile High Club when you're the pilot and there's no autopilot......not the best of ideas!

I tried the same thing...it only shows my 2003 one...I tried to call last night and hung up after waiting 15 minutes. Guess we'll just have to wait until Tuesday..... :(
  21. We have not washed any females out of ENJJPT in quite a while, though we did have a couple of them quite within the last year. With the pace that ENJJPT/UPT takes, if you don't truly want to be here and think that you need to be here, you won't make it though. As IPs, one of the first things we can pick up on, long before we see how good your hands are, is your attitude, and attitude can make-or-break you at UPT. As the other guys stated, there are many different types of people who make it through UPT, from the holiest of the Mormons to the most hedonistic sinners that you can find......like Beaver said, as long as you can do your job, that is all that really matters. 22. While I'm not a fighter pilot , I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night and I did fly T-38s as a student at ENJJPT about a year ago. As a student, we do a ride called the zoom-and-boom, in which we go supersonic over north texas....far from the shore line.
  23. I bought a Garmin Pilot III about a year ago that I take on all of my cross countries with me...it does all that I need it to do.....and the price is reasonable. I bought mine off eBay.
  24. This is totally just a hunch, but I'm guessing that's really a picture of Tyler.
