  1. all good points, i was just interested as the Bone has always fascinated me from the point that all the pilot does is fly, all the WSO does is shoot ect. you would wonder if that led the pilot to have better piloting SA and the WSO with better offensive/defensive SA
  2. my thoughts are that the majority of the heavy lifting has been done by the strike eagles, that the f35 would be severely range limited, and that manpads and other ir systems will still be a HUGE threat to a single jet engine that operates close to the edge of its envelope
  3. that reminds me of the blackbird guys off-topic, but has there ever been studies of the efficacies of a crewed aircraft vs solo aircraft in terms of mission success/accuracy/etc?
  4. kind of off topic, but do these protections apply if you are working in one state and a joining a guard unit in another?
  5. what kills me is they could have DONATED those planes to aviation technology schools for instruction, hell the avionics alone would have been a good teaching tool? i get its a military aircraft, but strip out the countermeasures, comms, any things else sensitive and BFD?
  6. https://news.yahoo.com/u-air-force-probed-scrapping-costly-planes-bought-023330679--sector.html lol
  7. you talking about the H-models that the forestry service got?
  8. So im going to bite and break this down for you. Guard units are looking for guys with the right fit. your previous response to a fellow bro on here does not bode well for your chances of assimilating with military aviators. on to your degree... if you are saying here it is a bull shit easy degree dont you think they will know that as well? dont you think someone else got a degree in advanced underwater basket weaving and was 4.0 Magna Cum Laude ? trust me theyve seen it. they are looking for someone that is well rounded, that brings good skills to the table and can get along with the dudes in the squadron. Dont know youre age, but i would revisit this when you are closer to 25 then 15.
  9. this is whats wrong with our country, not just the military.... the waste ive seen in corporate america is absolutely appalling

i dont have any words...... lol
  13. FWIW the 162 is pretty sweet, have been in the pattern down at Tucson with those guys doing touch and go's at night, pretty.damn. sweet.
  14. ditto on this, also heard they usually went with prior guys that were -38 rated, heard they were the international viper training squadron
  15. 160 - 180 airman required to run a drone, 100 to run an F-16, across the board the costs dont line up. 15 million to 55 million (drone-f16) acquisition cost now, but they are quickly driving past that with the new stealth and semi/fully-autonomous models. 80 extra people being paid on average annually 50k (im including all benefits/retirement etc) for an ADSC of 10 equals about the difference of price in acquisition cost.... you cant escape entropy lol sorry to derail the topic guys (linked included for pricing information) https://www.foreignpolicy.com/articles/2012/02/27/10_things_you_didnt_know_about_drones
  16. im throwing the bullshit flag on cost less then manned planes, and as these things get bigger and bigger with more autonomy we are only going to see them eclipse the F35 in terms of cost... the biggest driver in cost on the F35 is not the human in the cockpit, but the millions of lines of code that have to be written to work all the whiz-bang
  17. haha you dog! got it all figured out eh
  18. again being an outsider, are the UAV drops based on position in class ie, bottom X percentage gets UAVs? or is it more like FAIPS where anyone anywhere can drop it? its interesting they are taking UPT guys for this role... doesnt the army have enlisted guys running their drones?
  19. i dont suggest the airlines then ;)
  20. as a total and complete outsider, would it be safe to say that if there was a standardized time table for going RPA putting your time in and then getting back to an aircraft, would that help alleviate many of the issues?
  21. i had also read through local news in oklahoma that he was trying to convert people in a threatening manner, was warned to stop, and that is why he was fired.... wish i saved the link because now it appears to be gone.
  22. I really feel for you guys down south az, the options are always bad or worse... but hell, I moved to michigan so its not any better...
  23. I agree that currently seems to be the case, but with the new ATP written it will be interesting. wonder if theyll incorporate it into type ratings?
  24. I think Big Blue has made it perfectly clear they would rather send brand new planes to the boneyard then let the ARMY fly more fixed wings (c27 comes to mind)
