  1. Too late for Christmas this year but perfect for new years! Saw this in the squadron bar: 1 cup sugar 1 tsp. baking powder 1 cup water 1 tsp. salt 1 cup brown sugar 4 large eggs nuts 1 bottle of Weed 2 cups dried fruit Sample the Weed to check quality. Take out a large bowl; check the Weed again to be sure it is of the highest quality. Repeat. Turn on the electric mixer. Beat one cup of butter in a large fluffy bowl. Add 1 teaspoon of sugar. Beat again. At this point, it is best to make sure the Weed is still okay. Try another cup just in case. Turn off the mixerer thingy. Break two eggs and add to the bowl and chuck iin the cup of dried fruit. Pick the fruit up off the floor. Mix on the turner. If the fried druit getas stuck in the beaterers, pry it loose with a drewscriver. Sample the Weed to test for tonsisticity. Next, sift two cups of salt, or something. Check the Weed. Now shift the lemon ice strain your nuts. Add one table. Add a spoonfull of sugar or somefink. Whatever you can find. Greash the oven. Turn the cake tin 360's and try not to fall over. Don't forget to beat off the turner. Finally, throw the bowl through the window. Finish the Weed and wipe the counter with the cat. Hoopy Hollandaise!!
  2. PM me when you get this worked out - I want to be in the Air Force in the eighties.
  3. Green boots suck. I miss my decade old black leather cadet flight boots with the leather so broken in that they fold over when you take them off and set them on the floor. Plus they were lucky. Anyway, I think if you look this up in the Airmans Manual (AFPAM 10-100) it will point you in the right direction.
  4. Looking for a solid semi-auto rifle while they are still legal. For a long time I was a big fan of the Springfield M1A for the larger round, but have been looking at some AR15's due to ammo availability and price. Any advice? If I bought an AR15 I would be looking for a Colt, any other good brands out there? Thanks...
  5. I heard there are zero UAV bills for the fighter porch this year.
  6. This is 40 was pretty good. I liked it better than Knocked Up.
  7. Quick sidebar - anyone know if you can live off base (accompanied) at Kadena? Thanks..
  8. If Canada is smart they will buy the new strike eagles we are selling to Korea. Modify your tankers as necessary, or tell Boeing to make it like the F-105, which had a probe and boom receiver. Modern avionics, FAST, solid payload and range...
  9. I didn't know the strike eagle guys were so involved with the CGOC!
  10. You should check out the HK compact .40 if you're looking to concealed carry. I haven't shot a Glock but a lot of people swear by them... They make some tiny .45s, I don't remember the model. Sig is nice too, but I don't own one. I have a HK .45 (MK23) which has not once jammed on me and although it's a little large has been by far my favorite handgun I have shot. I don't think you can go wrong with HK. But that's just my two cents. I would find someone in your unit that has something you're interested in and go shoot it before you buy..
  11. If you know how to use one quickly it's actually pretty useful. Just get a watch that has one on it though. I primarily use mine when I'm starting to get skosh on fuel (on RTB or XC etc...) If you put your fuel burn rate in, you can figure out how many minutes before you run out of gas, or are down to recovery fuel etc... Then throw in your ground speed with x number of minutes. This takes about 6.9 seconds and gives you the distance you can fly on that amount of gas. (hopefully it's more than homeplate) As far as using them to get to a fix to fix - you can either request a vector from ATC or just travel straight until ATC gives you a vector.
  12. It's good to see that some are not content with the minimum...
  13. I don't doubt that it would've been hard, if not impossible, to hear the View. A 911 call was probably the quickest way to get that squared away. Hopefully whomever made the call had Tivo or DVR so they didn't miss anything. One time I had a brake failure near EOR and after the jet got hooked up to a tow by mx I took off my helmet (and earplugs) and jogged up to a hold-short line on a taxiway about 1,500' down the runway just in time to watch a four ship take off. It was by far the loudest and most awesome thing I have ever heard - to the point of physical pain. Through my boots I could feel the cement of the taxiway vibrating from the engines and feel the heat from the afterburners as the jets rolled by 50' away.. That sh!t gave me goosebumps.. I couldn't hear right for the rest of the day but it made me feel pretty f*cking proud to be an American. Anway, some real gold in the comments: "I strongly feel the vibrations myself & to scare my indoor pets enough to run & hide, like they were being chased! ... NOT ALL OF THESE Pilots are "TOP GUN" skilled/type pilots! geeesh...lol" "Most exciting thing that has happened in Des Moines in years." "Serves him right. It shows a LACK OF DISCIPLINE." Time to make a ROCKET BOOSTERS! morale patch. I Hope that pilot doesn't get hosed over hearsay stemming from people that know little to nothing about aviation.
  14. Yes, let's bust out the acoustic guitar and tambourine during roll call, sing the air force song (all verses) drink warm milk and eat cookies. We can give examples of how our squadron mates exemplified the core values over the past week, do a reading or two from the Airmans Manual, and maybe one from 36-2903 or 11-217 for good measure, then adjourn a little early to do some mentoring with your supervisor and practice bullet writing.
  15. If the cause of this was an alleged rape - maybe the DOD should prohibit sex (both consensual and non consensual), like in theater. Problem solved. I predict an increase in roll calls and hopefully stateside TDYs?
  16. Always thought bitching about the direction this country is headed was reserved for crusty retirees. Here I am in my 30's and I can't believe this shit. I think it's less about political parties and more about the entitled baby boomer generation that is now, for the most part, running (and ruining) this country by trading in long term American prosperity for short term personal goals. Or maybe it's because we've just been so rich and spoiled for so long we don't have a solid persective on what we're going to lose. I don't know. Higher taxes will only lead to more gov't spending. Might take a huge crisis to bring this country back together, until then I don't see anyone in Washington making any changes that will really affect this issue.
  17. I think LM offers that as a "cost plus" option.
  18. When blues Monday kicked off I was a capt with 2lt rank still on my blues. (bragging*) This is a little victory, but still awesome in my book. I don't know how anyone can complain. I think Welsh should run for president - to me this is better than an "Obama phone". *"I wear my uniform with pride for the heritage of sacrifice it represents and more..."
  19. I think this belongs in the WTF thread. YGBSM.
  20. Haven't seen this posted here yet - here's the article in the WSJ. And the Chinese media posting photos of the great leader. Reminds me of the Iranian state media posting the Onion article on Ahmadinejads vs Obamas popularity. Good stuff... although this is my all time favorite Onion article.
  21. Wow... for takeoff little wheel blocks come out of the flight deck as you spool up the motors and then you're off to hit that ramp! Interesting. If they build nine more and develop tactics for sixty years or so the Navy might have to step up their game.
  22. dfgyu76 - flight time will help you initially I think, but just study (chair fly) when you're going through. Also please no more glider video posts on baseops.
  23. Those who think we DON'T need this aircraft only need to reference the Lockheed Martin website: For the first time in aviation history, the most lethal fighter characteristics – supersonic speed, radar-evading stealth, extreme agility and short takeoff/vertical landing capability (STOVL) – have been combined in a single platform; the F-35B. With the F-35B in their fleet, expeditionary forces, like the U.S. Marine Corps, have a decisive advantage over their adversaries. The F-35B’s versatility, as demonstrated onboard the USS WASP (LHD-1), will revolutionize expeditionary combat power in all threat environments by allowing operations from major bases, damaged airstrips, remote locations and a wide range of air-capable ships. The F-35B gives warfighters the ability to accomplish their mission, wherever and whenever duty calls. - https://www.lockheedm...vl-variant.html Uh yeah - and according to the stats this $237M (wikipedia) 7.0g capable aircraft carries TWO 1,000lb JDAMS as well as DUAL AMRAAMS. At least it will probably be cheap to fly and have stellar MC rates?
  24. Javier Bardem is probably the best movie villain of all time. (no country for old men) Just saw Skyfall, definitely one of the better bond flicks.
