Does anyone fly with an automatic (mechanical) watch? Specifically in a high-g airframe? Did the timing get thrown off? Usually I fly with a quartz watch but it’s in for servicing and looking to fly with a Bremont instead. First world problems...

Well no IPZ luck here. 11F on third ops tour. Not stellar records but not bad either (strats, OEF, DG, awards etc..). Time to get smart on the guard and airlines - glad I had enough SA to avoid the bonus.

Saw the obligatory AFPC U2 email. Not my cup of tea to fly around in the bozosphere for long missions in a pressure suit... but what's the b-course / tx like for that?

Also looking for the list... thanks!

I'm curious how a T-6 would do in a race like that... probably not competitive against an L-39, but maybe against the piston engine planes.

How Long For New Studs To Be Disillusioned?
billy pilgrim replied to donkey's topic in General Discussion
Where I'm at we finally got a bunch of contract support in the squadron, which really frees up the time of the younger guys. We have WDO / Scheduling / Training and basically a mini CSS again (completely bragging). So I would say the quality of life of first assignment guys is higher, but it doesn't really matter because they are really excited to be in an ops unit and they don't know any different. There is a ton of real world operational experience on this board. AD USAF gives you a lot of opportunities that are not available anywhere else, but also it is highly variable and your results will vary significantly with your peers. The bottom line is that AD has a lot better deals and a lot worse deals than ANG. I think if you're the type of person that wants to fly in combat, you'll probably be drawn to AD - and good on you. The frustration here on the board is because AD could be so much better than it is. It's not that people don't like AD, it's all the surrounding BS that gets in the way. -
Is there any work around to get media off of itunes (mostly music) on your andriod?

I am no expert investor, but everything I've read* on the subject has basically said to avoid mutual funds and just invest in an index fund. (You can also do bonds and real estate funds to balance your portfolio). I think Buffet has the same opinion. *Random walk down wall street, a couple of Nassim Taleb's books.

That would be awesome, but I don't think I would've graduated if I went through Reese....

F-22 Pilot's comments after flying the F-4
billy pilgrim replied to ClearedHot's topic in Squadron Bar
Anyone on here have any F-4 time? I kept trying to get a flight at WSEP but it never panned out... -
The "snake skin" game whereby downtown you stealthily unwrap a condom and drape it across the shoulder / back of one of the bros you're out with. Bonus points the longer it is unnoticed.

Prof advanced seaplane rating. 2nd on the F-117, talked to some dudes that flew them it wasn't all that awesome to fly.

?s on ADSC (Active Duty Service Commitment)
billy pilgrim replied to FreudianSlip's topic in General Discussion
My assignments started to get a lot better once I became a free agent. Also found out the other day that I am one of two in my AFSC and year group in the CAF. So maybe there's just no one left. Not sure. -
It's like the tree falling in the forest. If the Europeans make a good fighter does anyone care?

Does anyone have any info on when the O-5 board results will be released? Last I heard was September. I hope I don't fall off of the AFPC career pyramid.

If you're in the mudhen you don't have a hair on your ass if you don't dual wield while the other guy works the radio. As a light grey guy I think this will only marginally improve my strafe Pk.

It sucks to be one of those studs during the this surge. They are going to have less training and fierce competition through their years AD. A lot more weight of effort has to be placed on retention rather than production. Period... and I'm not talking about getting rid of a CBT or two or pen tab patches.

Take a look at the USAF mishap rate this year. Cutting corners is expensive.

There already is a safe place at roll call. You know you're headed there when everyone starts chanting "outside" and you go stand outside and think about what you did.

This is going to ruin my technique of sending myself a ginormous powerpoint file every time I want to shut off my Outlook queep for a few days. ... just remember to also delete it out of your sent items when ready to go again...

Synopsis: Admiral Mitchell gives commanders call to disillusioned CG's / FGOs about how bad life is on the outside of AD. Later pulled over by base SF after going expired on his MSF course. *spoiler* Gets fired after non-green dot approved statement outside empty O-club.

Scheduled to fly a USAFA cadet next week. Ops Air Force I think.
