  1. 2nd on that. The Ruger 10/22 should be standard issue to every american kid upon completion of a hunters safety course. Oh, and the ammunition is super cheap - it's like a pellet gun you don't have to pump. I got mine when I was 12.

So apparently the ROK had a cyber attack this week: https://news.yahoo.co...-015253680.html According to the article it was linked back to an IP address in China but due to the targets selected (banks and media companies) the culprit is thought to be good 'ol N. Korea - or N. Korea sympthathizers located in China. China apparently goes after esponiage type material in their attacks. Anyway, what struck me was the picture of the "Cyber Terror Response Center". While illegal, and if executed by a state actor, arguably an act of war - I don't see how you can really link not being able to access your bank account to terrorism (due to the lack of violence). Now, if you were standing in line at the ATM next to a suicide bomber and could not withdraw cash because you were dead - that would be terrorism. Is cyberterroism possible? Maybe if you used hacking to actually kill people. I think that word gets thrown around so much by national governments that it is dangerously drifting from its actual meaning. Which, according to our government is: “the unlawful use of force and violence against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives” (28 C.F.R. Section 0.85). Less words more pictures!!

  5. I was BSing with another pilot in my unit this weekend and he mentioned that you might be able to fix some of this if you allowed UPT to count for an AAD. It's a year long "graduate" program with written tests and practical exams. I think it's a good idea. Well, all these pilot AAD shenanighans are probably helping guard and airline recruiting. 45% seems crazy low for a pilot with SOS and no masters.

  9. I've done this once or twice. It's not hard - you just need to fax in your orders. You can either suspend your account or terminate it completely. If you have an iPhone tell them you need it unlocked so you can "use it" in theater. Then when you get back you can sell your factory unlocked phone on eBay or use it with another carrier etc... if you so choose. There is absolutely no reason to keep service on your line for six months as this entire process takes maybe 30 minutes. I am not sure, but I don't think deployments affect your upgrade eligibility. I.e. two years is two years. Hope that helps.

  11. Dude - you obviously don't get it. With all the stealth and other capes it would be basically impossible for a bandit to end up behind a fighter that advanced. How do you control zone BFM that which has no control zone?! I hate the F-35.

  14. That is awesome. The passing of that generation reminds me of a Ronald Reagon quote: Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn't pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children's children what it was once like in the United States where men were free.

  16. If you wanted to stop one of these the trick would be to hit it early enough (way out in space), just to nudge it a bit so it doesn't hit Earth.. or at least doesn't hit 'Merica. Once it's in the atmosphere that thing has so much kinetic energy that there's no way that "science" is going to be able to do anything.

  18. Boomer6, I just dealt with a similar issue a few months ago, and it was the first time I have had a negative experience with a landlord. Here's what I took away from it: 1) Take tons of pictures when you move in and when you move out. 2) Document everything wrong and all correspondence through e-mail so you have records. Avoid using the phone as that will turn into he said, she said... 3) If you still have issues the housing office on base can help you out a little - you can file a complaint against the landlord which can cost them future business. 4) The Better Business Bureau is your friend. www.bbb.org If you cannot get your issue resolved with the landlord, bring them in to intercede on your behalf. 5) Some states have laws that will allow you to get double (WA state) or even triple your deposit back if it's not returned to you in a timely matter (two weeks in WA if I remember) or if they are keeping it for BS reasons and you show this. If you take them to small claims court, it's cheap, and no lawyers are involved - but it can be a bit of a pain. In my case, pictures, documentation and the BBB allowed me to get my full deposit back after being threatened to pay for items that were wrong with the house when we moved in (and documented but never fixed). Also, they claimed that there was water damage due to a leaky roof and we didn't report it (had no idea). If it goes South I would leave some reviews on Yelp, etc... Good luck - what state are you in btw?
  19. The heavier a fighter is and the smaller the wing is the worse turn performance it will have. For a 40,000lb aircraft the wing has to generate 280,000lb of lift for a 7g turn. A bigger wing can generally do that at lower angle of attack and subsequently less drag. Less drag and you stay faster, stay faster and your engines make more power (to a point) as there's more air moving through them and they can generate more thrust. It all translates into all-around better performance. You can add all the technology you want to a turd but you will still have to deal with the laws of aerodynamics and physics.
  20. Might be wrong but I am pretty sure that some 11F3J (F-22) types get ACSC in residence credit if they're selected for school with the actual in-residence part waived. I think this is due their manning levels.
  21. Move to have TIB count for ACSC equiv credit for school selects, like the raptor dudes... If you think about it, to take someone out of TIB for a year, especially a more senior guy, is pretty rough on their mission...
