Used to be -38 guys got a list of airframes available, then racked and stacked them in a dream sheet. Not locations though, from what I remember, but that was lots of beers ago... Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

You could also do it the way my SQ/CC handled our assignments back in the B Course: "Here's the assignments. You guys are grown men, figure out a fair way to pick who goes where. If I hear any arguing, you're all going to Korea." Good to be a Guard guy. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

Visiting a unit

Depends on the context. If in an informal setting, like a meet and greet, I would refer to them by the name they introduce themselves as or whatever is on their nametag. Nobody will care if you call them by their callsign. If in a formal setting, like the interview, I would refer to them by rank and last name or sir/ma'am. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk -
I'm not saying everyone should make a career out of it. I'm simply stating that you'll only have the opportunity to do some of the coolest shit in the world one time in your life, and it's worth it. You can always move on later down the road. Edit: I understand that, after 12 years in, those points above are all valid reasons to separate. Shouldn't be a deciding factor for a young dude out of UPT. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

There's one aspect everyone keeps overlooking: you only get one chance in your life to fly fighters, if you're lucky. Definitely not for everyone but, if pay, hours, or lifestyle have anything to do with whether or not you want to join the club, then we don't want you and you probably won't make it anyways. There will be a time when I'm done flying fighters and I'll leave this all behind. I won't miss the long hours, all the hard work, or the stress that is intrinsic to the job. I will miss the flying, shooting the gun, lasing bombs in, Turkey shoots, BFM, roll calls, naming ceremonies, and all the shenanigans with the bros. When the time comes, I'll move on, but I'll really miss all the amazing shit I did with all the amazing people. All the hard work is definitely worth it. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

Thank God Phelps is racing a shark. I was starting to wonder if there were any real ing great Americans left... https://www.buzzfeed.com/stephenlaconte/michael-phelps-is-gonna-race-an-actual-ing-shark-for Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

It's an assignment, just like any other. Plenty of guys wanting fighters get non-vol'd to Buffs, Awacs, C-130s, and everything seems to work out just fine. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

Anyone have any insight on which year groups will be changed and how much? I would assume it's only gonna be the over 6 and over 14, since that's the demographic they're targeting for retention. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk -
It's not in the Block 25s at Luke. Pretty sure it's in all the 40s and 50s, no idea about the 30s. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

It's the distance from the center of a circle to any other point on the edge of that same circle, and in this case it equals a value that causes the area of the circle to equal 4000 square feet. Probably meant to say it was a 4,000 ft radius, cuz 4,000 square feet ain't much. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

Interesting. My unit does not operate like that. If I show up, I get paid. There's always work to do. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

In general, if you're not sure about whether or not you should/can say something, don't. And referencing Holloman as Del Rio 2.0 is the same as saying Holloman. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

To the bar (the squadron bar if able), the strip club, sorority parties, Vegas, out on a boat... While you're at it, buy a motorcycle or sports car you can't really afford, travel wherever you can, make a bunch of questionable choices while staying out of jail. Serious advice. What will my life be like?
Kenny Powers replied to Rhade's topic in Air National Guard / Air Force Reserves
I was a civilian engineer before I went to UPT, part time enlisted dude in the guard. I had a really good gig and really liked my engineering job. Now I fly fighters in the guard. That being said, I have never thought "Man, I can't wait to go back to being an engineer!" When I search civilian engineer jobs online out of curiosity, I read the job description and think "No way could I go back to that!" Nothing wrong with it and, I used to enjoy it, but flying airplanes for the military is just way more fun (regardless of what you fly). Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk -

Just keep searching and reading threads , plenty of discussion on here. Cliff Notes: 1)ENJJPT pilots are better than non ENJJPT T-38 pilots 2) ENJJPT pilots are scientifically proven to be 2X as good as T1 pilots. 3) Notes 1 and 2 are likely due to the part in the ENJJPT syllabus where they teach you to get your own ATIS. 4) Sometimes so many fighters drop at ENJJPT that people who dont deserve them get them, according to the finest FAIPS the USAF can produce. 5) If you fly -38s and go Heavies, you may have a chance to crossflow into fighters later in your career. If you didn't fly -38s, you're obviously an inferior pilot and suck too bad to ever be a fighter pilot. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk -

I see you've met life. Lesson #1, it doesn't give a shit about your plans. You'll be fine, just stay on top of it. Consider reevaluating your finances. Make sure you have a steady plan, that allows you to save, pay down your debt, have insurance, invest, all those things that will keep you from "accidentally" getting in too much debt to start with. Although it's tempting to pay debt off ASAP, you also have to get on a financial plan you can stick with or you'll find yourself in this situation over and over. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
