The 3 tenants of Airpower: 1. Fear 2. Sarcasm 3. Ridicule I love this thread. Chuck

Nice to see. Message wont be recieved though Im afraid. These dudes obviously didnt hear about previous US experience dealing with pirates... Chuck

I spoke with a higher level source about the 'tat-removal' buffoonery down there... bad poop from lawyers! Note to self, before issuing a proclaimation at your base directing dozens of people to pay for costly and painful surgery to remove LEGAL tattoos from their body because you want them in the same uniform as everyone else, check with the JAG! It will keep you from looking like a total dumbass a week later when you have to retract your proclaimation (over a pending IG investigation) and tell everyone to just follow the AFI, which is what they've been doing all along. Clowns on fire dudes... Kinda funny, Kinda sad. Good lessons on what NOT to do when you become part of the upper levels... Chuck

Im all for picking your battles... but seriously, whats gonna happen if you wear short sleeves in the winter? Are you in uniform? Yup. Is it in violation of AFI 36-xxx Nope. But Im sure the clerks will have a field day if you dont have your tie on because its the wings policy that the chief most likely bugged the WG/CC to implement for the last 3 months... Im at a northern tier base and they dont regulate like this (yet). And if they did, well looks like Monday is my fly day! Im not saying anything, Im just saying. Stupid policies get retained because no one has the guts to tell the emporer hes naked... Chuck

Awesome. Not. Hey buddy, I get the "Im 19 and pissed off at the world because my life sucks and Im in knee-deep in Hadji sh!t" attitude but to be fair, we'd appreciate the courtesy of a little background on you, like your job, history, etc., since we've been upfront about ours. That way we can more easily make snap judgements about you and your job/situation based on nebulous stereotypes and bad past experiences... And youre not quite right on the PACAF thing... Ive only been TDY 100 days this last year as opposed to the 250+ annually I was when I was in AMC. Stupid hard work, bettering myself and upgrades just get in the way. Dont feed the trolls gents. Obama administration asks for 10% military budget cut

Two words: Missile Defense. Chuck -
Huh? The Marines dont give a CRAP about air dominance. They care about CAS, pure, clean, deadly CAS. Air Dominance or Air superiority or air supremacy or whatever moniker you want to hang on it is the rhelm of the USAF and to a degree the USN. The Marines care about Marines... if thats what you meant by their piece of the air dominance pie, then Im with you. 'the need to project power in austere conditions inland is what really drives this' Again we see ignorance of capes. This is not a personal attack CAVEMAN, Im speaking in regards to the Marines, not you. LO aircraft are made to be stealthy. If they are DIRTY, dinged, bent, or covered in mud and sh!t with ordinance hanging all over them (thats what happens when jets go and land in the dirt) then why buy the B model? Because its new? Because its going to be STOVL? It sure is going to spoil the look of the thing to arm it to the gills and get it nice and dirty doing semi-prepared airfield ops in the wilds of Afghanistan... The Marines dont care about stealth, they care about putting iron in the mud. My .02 And regardless of what the services say, I still dont trust that this thing isnt the next F-111 that the USAF get stuck holding the bag for... especially the B model... Chuck

Bro I dont think you know a thing about their capes other than what is released to the public. No big deal, it just hurts your stance a little. They are at my base, Ive flown against them and with them. We need more of them, and I am glad they are on our side. But 183 is still not enough. Where are we failing the troops, may I ask? The Navy is building new carriers. The ground pounders are driving MRAPs, not Humvees now... Casualties are WAY down compared to 2 years ago, the new guy in the office at 1600 PA Ave is starting to move toward us moving out. But guess what? The SAME THING is going to happen to the USAF that happened in the Gulf War... when all the ground pounders leave, we will still be there (because there is no Iraqi air force capable of defending Iraq!!)! And we need to have the capes in theater to make sure no one fncks with us while we are there. Not just fighters either. Granted we are waaay short on the new tanker buy, but I dont REALLY expect any movement on that until one breaks up over the Atlantic on AR20 in some turbulence at night while refueling a C-17... cause thats gonna have to happen before we do the standard "OH SHIT!!! WE NEED TANKERS RIGHT FnCKING NOW!!!" reaction that is now a USAF hallmark. We need to be able to CONTINUE to achieve air dominance. If you think a Viper or Strike Eagle will be able to take down the double digit next-gen SAMs and the Flankers forever and ever... well... nothing we can say will change your mind. Chuck

CAVEMAN - Please for the love of mike tell me you have the clearance(s) and you know what the Raptor can do... because if you dont, then you truely ARE speaking without knowing the full picture. If you do, I cant see how you can say anything you have... If you do, youd know the ends justify the means... If you do, you know 183 is NOT enough... If you do, you know we faced the SAME problem in the 1970s when acquiring the F-15 and F-16. We bought them and we kicked ass when required. If you do, youd know why we need them now every bit as much as we needed Eagles and Vipers back then. You just sound terribly uninformed. Chuck

Whatever dude! Being a former baseball player and a hockey player too, Im way superstitious. It helps! Chuck

Finance Guy, Im not sure if everyone here knows how lucky we are to have you post on this forum - its like having an inside man... You have my thanks and many more Im sure - you just dont get this kind of attention, at least in my previous experience, when dealing with them directly. Chuck

HA! Nice find Toro! Ah, the general public... always entertaining. Chuck

I have a friend who did this in my former squadron. PM me and I can hook you up with his contact info. He's at the Deid right now running dip clearances or some shit, so no promises. Chuck

"2!" Nice post CH! I said a long time ago and once again recently in a Squadron Climate Survey or whatever the fnck those things are that "I want to be able to say that I would follow my squadron leadership into the gates of hell, if only they would ask..." I signed my name to that shit and meant every word. The CC said he liked the quote but its a tough thing to live up to. I asked him why? If I was the CC Id expect that or do anything to make that happen. Too bad only about 30% of the dudes Ive worked for fit that discription. Chuck

It always sucks, even if you dont know the dudes, when names and faces are put together after the fact... Real people, real dreams... Hell that coulda been any one of us. As was once said by the all-knowing BOZZ or Rainman (cant remember which), "This flying shit aint no kids game." If this doesnt drive that home, I dont know what will. Godspeed brothers. Chuck

I can end this real quick... ask him what his callsign is. Chuck

WOW. Stunning... Simply a horrible couple of weeks in AETC. Keep em in your prayers bros... T-38 fleet grounded in 3.... 2.... 1.... Chuck

The breakdown from the discussion on track selects in another thread showed the percentage at just over 5%. The Marines will guarentee you a helo slot if you sign on with them, and there is a significant percentage that fly rotary for the Navy as well. Options... Chuck

Hmm, I wonder where we get the ideas for banning the fun in the military...? At least we are re-inforcing what appears to be an AF tradition. Chuck

WTF??? Jeez... that makes getting back from the MUFF 3 times a week at midnight a little exercise in E&E doesnt it!!! Chuck
