  1. FYI, Clark, it's "YGBSM"
  2. I dunno bout y'all, but I typically need a lot more than 7 teeth when I flash my chewed bubble gum.
  3. I like turtles.
  4. What do you guys think this is, the 80s?
  5. How bout a summary?
  6. Classy.
  7. I'm in a similar circumstance. Anyone wanna toss the link up here? I'll buy ya a virtual beer.
  8. If you want to be a 34 year old O-4 getting treated like a pipeline airman fresh out of Lackland, be my guest. However, if given the option, go to DLI East for language. But yeah, Monterey is nice.
  9. Shut the fuck up, Scoobs.
  10. That guy found a license to print cash courtesy the USAF, particularly courtesy A1.
  11. Combat time in Northern and Southern Watch flying Eagles. That's all I care to say about that.
  12. I'm leaving my current assignment at DLI for greener pastures, but let me relay to you bros the uniform policy I've been following for the last year: Mon: ABUs Tue: Flight Suit Wed: ABUs Thur: Blues Fri: Flight Suit Why? I have no fucking idea. Any complaints about wearing a different uniform every day of the week have been met with: "Well, you don't HAVE to wear the FDU on T/F, so you can just wear ABUs instead and have some consistency." Only justification offered: "It's an Air Force uniform you are required to have, so why not wear it." I countered with: "Well, I'm required to have a Mess Dress too. When are we going to start doing Mess Dress Mondays?" As an aside: Avoid DLI if you can, especially the 314TRS. Go to DLI-East if you have the option.
  13. Offhand, I can think of at least two separate events where a hypoxia situation wasn't solved by selecting 100% oxygen, and the pilots had to descend and/or activate the emergency oxygen supply. I am not surprised if they are related to the article you posted. EDIT: Clarification: I'm talking about Viper hypoxia incidents.
  14. If only we had a separate HQ-based organization charged with the challenging task of managing our manpower...
  15. Speak for yourself, herbivore.
  16. I sure would love to have the Chinese watch how I work my 4-ship A/A tactics and SERE gameplan over the civilian feed in a MOA, too.
  17. As long as DARPA can figure out how to shark fin the UAV's vertical stab on the tanker out of a cloud bank so the receivers stay popeye, we won't be able to tell the difference.
  18. Plus, think of the bonus money it will save! Genius!
  19. Please take a photo and post this letter if you still have it. I could use a laugh.
  20. Shut the fuck up, SNAP.
  21. Like many here, I already have a AMEX platinum card for free due to the awesome benefits it provides and the fact that it's free to active duty military once you request SCRA benefits with AMEX. However, it's not a good "day-to-day" credit card. Also, vendors who take AMEX are sometimes hard to find. Enter the BarclayCard Arrival+ card, which is a World Elite MasterCard. Find a link here: https://www.findmybarclaycard.com/barclaycard-credit-cards/?campaignId=2165&cellNumber=1&Referrerid=BCSBA0815PRD This card typically costs a user $89 per year just to own, and the interest rate is typically higher than USAA's offerings. HOWEVER, you can get GREAT adjustments to the terms of the card agreement by simply calling the number on the back of the card and requesting SCRA benefits. Here's what they did for me: 1. All fees waived (including balance transfer fees, late fees, annual fees) 2. Interest rate on the card is set to 0%. That's right: ZERO INTEREST on a CREDIT CARD 3. ZERO foreign transaction fees Their points system is fairly generous, and spending $3k on the card in the first 3 months will net you 40,000 points (worth $400). If you don't have one yet, I recommend you check it out. It's a great deal if you're on active duty, and it has become my go-to card for just about everything...just to take advantage of the generous points/cash back system. Free stuff is cool. Get with it.
  22. I'm really excited for your future squadronmates.
  23. It's also worth saying that "picking generals at the O-4 board" is a pretty HUGE generalization. IDE select rate for major selects is about 20% or so (give or take). That's an overly large pool of "potential generals," even if you factor in some pretty large attrition. I'd say a more accurate statement lies in what Dirk said about BTZ requirements. 2-BTZ to LtCol (only 3 to 4% of eligibles) is much closer to what I'd consider a pool of potential flag officers.
