Yes. Any kind of award like that (DG, Top 1/3, Oustanding Contributor, etc) should be included in your PRF. It demonstrates that you outperformed your peers in a competitive environment (whether it's PME, a schoolhouse, or whatever) Alibi - I'm referring to an actual "Top Third" award, not just if you were stratted in the top third of a class or something
-
It depends. Different rates depending on community. In AFSOC it's roughly half I would say. I'm guessing the CAF rates are higher

They graduated.

Video of the CSAF's All Call at Spang. Fast forward to about 17:30 for discussion on a lot of topics we've been debating here - stopping with stupid AFIs, pushing authority down to the lowest level possible, sexual assault, etc.

Way to twist my words. So you know for a fact there was no reason for a dorm inspection? That the Wing leadership was just "screwing with people for no reason"? I'm not saying dorm inspections just for shits and giggles are ok - that's bullshit. But I have to believe that the WG/CC and Command Chief weren't just sitting around on Friday going, "Hey, what are you doing tomorrow night? Wanna go fuck with some airmen?" All I'm saying is without the whole picture I'm not ready to condemn someone based on conjecture posted on BO.net. And you're right - 600 CGOs getting their room searched at 0400 would be bullshit - because they're not 18 year olds who just graduated high school and are living away from their parents for the first time ever. Now if you'll excuse me I have some sock checks to do.
-
Thanks - I've lived in them quite a bit. I meant why did the CC bust in turning on lights and shining flashlights in people's faces? Doesn't sound like a visit to just chat with the troops.
-
I forgot that 18 year old Airmen are entitled to their beauty rest. Last time I checked, anyone living in the dorms are JUNIOR enlisted in the MILITARY. A 0400 dorm inspection wouldn't even register on the "things to bitch about" radar of CGOs in the other services....in fact it would probably be the CGOs conducting the inspections.

This is not an Army/Marine fight. The A-10 is being sacrificed on the altar of the F-35 and KC-46. Period. The Army/Navy/Marines are making the same sacrifices. When push comes to shove, those services are not going to sacrifice combat capability in the form of Soldiers, Sailors, and Marines in order to take on the responsibility of paying for the training, maintenance, and fielding of the A-10 in their service. It is "circle the wagons" time my friends.
-
Dude. Do you really think HARMs only exist to protect A-10s? Or that we only do OCA/DCA caps for a CAS fight? Or that AWACS & JSTARS only exist to support A-10s and said CAS fight? You have some 3-1 reading to do my friend. Take a bottle of whiskey to your nearest Weapons Officer immediately and have a talk (mostly you listening) about how the AF fights a full up war.

Oct is 1100something-1500something

03ers - Numbers for Oct are finally posted - quota of 405. Looks like they're going to clear the list before Jan.

Liquid - Any word on whether HAF is going to let candidates go off the alternate list? I know the SOF DT only had enough selects nominated to fill the primary seats - hence all the alternates are candidates. So when inevitably spots open up, is HAF/AFPC going to allow more than one candidate to go if they're pulled off the alternate list or will those slots go to another DT that has selects on the alternate list?
-
Ugh. This used to be a really beneficial thread. Can we delete the last two pages and gen up some more discussion with Liquid?

Drone Pilots: We Don’t Get No Respect
backseatdriver replied to HercDude's topic in General Discussion
Word of this may not have made it to your corner of the pointy-nose world, but there's actually a multitude of enlisted currently serving in the "flying ranks" and surprisingly enough most of them are capable of astounding feats such as thinking outside the box, working in but around rules, and finding new and creative solutions to problems. -
Did those that received spears from their peers change their ways or was it just feedback? Honest question, not smartassedness.
-
Copy all, and understand. My comment wasn't a spear at you, just at the idea that someone's record would be scored lower (and therefore possibly not get promoted) because the SR was speeding on their PRF. While I understand the importance of SR credibility to the board, my point is a board member should not penalize that individual by scoring lower based on PRF speeding IF the record otherwise supports a higher score. If there's an issue with the SR's credibility, that shouldn't automatically reflect negatively on the member. As far as keeping misleading bullets off your PRF - that could be easier said than done. The conversation might go something like (although we all hope it wouldn't), "Sir/Ma'am, I think we should change this bullet because it (gives the wrong impression/isn't accurate/speeding)." "I disagree, we're leaving it in there." And while SR credibility is the issue, this is probably a discussion that happens at the Sq/CC level versus the SR level. And this probably happens because the Sq/CC has never been properly mentored on how to write a good PRF before they were put in charge. Now, is that shitty leadership? Yes. Does it happen? Yes. At least the attempt was made by the member to correct it, but if board members are scoring things this way, then even if they tried to correct it, they're screwed because the board member is going to write them off because the SR is speeding. Don't get me wrong, I truly believe that complete disregard for the OPR/PRF process isn't happening all over the place (at least I hope not) but it definitely happens. And the maddening thing about it is that someone's career/life is dependent upon whether their boss at the time has their shit together when it comes to writing reports. Totally separate but related - isn't this one of the exact things the MLR is meant to catch?
-
This is bullshit. Why is the member punished for their SR's speeding? Why doesn't the board member identify that the SR is one that is speeding, and look in the guys record themselves to score the record honestly? If we're not supposed to write the PRF ourselves, then why does a board punish us based on the SR not writing correctly? If you're sitting a board you should be ensuring the promotion of the best qualified officers for the AF - not immediately writing someone off because their boss is an idiot.

And that's how you debate...

True. I'm just saying Reggie Love doesn't give a specific timeframe of when the card game was happening. The reaction on here is as if POTUS was sitting around playing cards while the team was kicking the door in, when it could have been hours prior when nothing was going on. Does it look bad from a PR perspective? Absolutely. I'm just saying I'm personally not ready to crucify POTUS for playing some cards at some point during the night. Now if he was off playing cards while the op was actually happening then I think that's too detached.
-
Ok, let's walk the dog on this one.... I'm assuming he wasn't out playing cards while the actual hit was going down. During the HOURS leading up to the raid, what EXACTLY do you expect POTUS to do? Would you have rather him be in the Situation Room calling the shots for an op 5000 miles away? Or looking over everyone's shoulder asking for updates every 2 minutes? I don't agree with a lot of his policies, but I don't think it's a bad thing he was able to walk away and clear his head while he let his experts run the op. One of the best commanders I had downrange (O-6) impressed me by his ability to do just that. Just because there was an op going on, he didn't feel the need to hover over everyone in the JOC. There were times when he would come in and say "You guys have got this - I'm gonna go catch a couple hours of sleep." The guy was working 20 hours a day, and knew he could be a better asset and leader if he broke away and rested a little instead of just watching the action, and he had guys he trusted to take care of things in his absence. If something needed his attention, we knew where to find him. So, that being said, the POTUS breaking away to clear his head for a couple hours leading up to such a huge event doesn't bother me.

I hope it would be more than just the CAF promoting WIC grads

I can't believe the threshold for "journalism" these days... I think that about covers it. The shoot down of EXTORTION 17 was a horrible event for the US military, and more specifically the SOF community. The preposterous conspiracy theories surrounding it are an insult to the heroes that died that day. I'm also tired of only reading about the SEALs that died with no mention of the Air Force CCT and PJs on board or the Army helo crew that also perished. People trying to paint this as some kind of "set up" make me sick. These men were on their way into battle and some muj got a lucky shot off. Period. At least they were visited by a couple GBUs and some 40 and 105mm a few days later. Here's a toast to the heroes of EXTORTION 17.....
