  1. IM(biased)O, K4 should be the seventh app for any .mil airline applicant, barring those who can say for certainty that they couldn't stomach certain aspects of the sector (16 day lines, planet lapping, etc). They are easily on top of the heap of regionals and other ACMI operators. That said, the latest contract was VERY incremental over the previous 2016 contract, due mostly to the drag on negotiations from the previous year's events. Likely scenarios will have a much more productive negotiating environment when this contract is up in four years. However, expectation management: the best ACMI dog in the business will always lag parcels and pax, simply because it's a much leaner sector historically. The organized labor lens can angst all day that management is making money hand over fist in the current environment, but that can change over a commercial break, and chaining a company to a contract that will ensure the doors get locked at the bottom of the next cycle...even this pilot group understands that reality. But beyond that, there's a few -isms within the company that I think weigh it down on it's way to becoming a "destination job", namely a training dept that is being dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century, inability to sit any form of "in-base reserve", negligible retirement benefit, etc. Crews are great, can't beat the 74 for bucket list type value; still highly recommend.
  2. Granted mine wasn’t a high power staff job, but holy hell, you really gotta be smokin the tires to get fired from a MAJCOM staff desk. Especially in the current market.
  3. I’m impressed that the LPA managed to come up with an offensive double meaning and it made it back to the Bob in less than a day. ========= MR MAYOR! POINT OF ORDER! I move that Lt Herr’s new call sign be “Prince Albert”, or “Prince” for short. ========== I’ve seen the occasional socially awkward CC, but most of them knew they were socially awkward and came to accept it as a limitation, working around it. This idiot sounds completely oblivious. Suggest a hostile renaming: D.B. You know, for Daring Bob. Used in a sentence: “We used to call him Phats, but that was before he came out of the closet as a raging Daring Bob.”
  4. North Texas is going to go down as a unique storm/natural disaster. Last night it was 6°F when my wife called and said that our power was out. Not a huge deal except for the fact that we had been running the pool pump at a higher speed to keep that system from freezing. It quickly froze, we will find out on Saturday when the temperature gets above freezing weather or not that entire system is fucked. Likely. Likewise, the master bath is against the exterior wall, and no hot water is running to those spigots. The neighborhood I am in is not plumbed for natural gas, and apparently we are split among two different power grids. Luckily, my grid came back up after a few hours this morning, so we’ve been able to run the heat to try and save the plumbing. The other half of the neighborhood has been on a 10 minute cycle all day. Pretty sure all those houses will be a mort for plumbing when this is all said and done. Last but certainly not least, the neighborhood is all septic. Aerobic septic. Sprinklers are frozen, so no showers and only limited flushing for the next few days. If anyone has any stock tips for plumbing suppliers and contractors in North Texas, now is the time to buy. I just started my commute home this morning, and I’m stuck on the West Coast. Fun times.
  5. Out of curiosity, what’s on your daily reading list?
  6. Highly doubt that. Agree with most of the points made here, but given her CV, she can kick a ball. Don’t get me wrong: she would have provided precisely zero help to the return coverage, but that probably was the point. Put the ball exactly here, avoid the biggest return threats. She did her job as asked, I’m guessing. That’s probably the strategic blunder here: should have let her give it her best grunt, let the chips fall where they may.
  7. You should catch his live act sometime. Totally worth the cover plus two drink minimum. 🤘
  8. I would agree that it isn’t pure vertical, but bank never broke 90? So a pitch/sliceback?
  9. -80 degrees C (colder than dry ice) is not your standard refrigeration obstacle.
  10. Pulls pin and tosses ad hominem grenade. Walks out. Right...Good talk, Russ.
  11. I must be missing the reference.
  12. Pretty sure they don’t have ejection seats; bailout only. Glad they all made it!
  13. The FO’s incompetence and the CA’s competence intersected well below the available recovery window in this circumstance. FO made an input well outside reasonable expectation, so much so that it produced a startle effect in the CA, fatally delaying the attempted recovery on his part. An antidote could have been a timely and assertive “MY AIRCRAFT” from the CA, but given the data, even that is left to doubt; regardless, no such declaration was recorded on the CVR.
  14. Reason #369 why I’m so glad to no longer be traveling with the circus. ...small j vs big J? WTaF? The very definition of dodging valid feedback.
  15. In 3y the regionals will be back to picking up .mil with R-ATP mins. If you can sprint to an EP qual, you could potentially go straight to a major.
  16. Don’t think that’s normally a thing in the case of injuries and no fatalities.
  17. I might be wrong on this (second hand rumor) but I think it was implemented in some form in the RPA world. Funding to go flying at the local FBO I’d heard. Correct me if I’m wrong here.
  18. Or, hear me out now, these protests are being organized and participated in by people who have lost their income by excessive response to the threat, while those with a recession proof stream of income write op-Ed’s about “dark money” (which makes me think Soros actually...).
  19. So was Welsh. Lots of hopes were high. And he decided to front load a RIF and then cash in all of his chips trying to park the A-10.
  20. Yeah, Freedom Mortgage can go get bent. I noticed immediately that my payment didn't go through, antennae went up. Called my servicer (Dovenmeuhle), who said that the transfer was in progress, but that federal law prohibited any penalty or adverse action for 60 days due to the transfer. I even went the extra step and reached out to Freedom; same answer. 60 days. Got it. So, about the 45 day mark, I reach out again to Freedom to make my payment and set up auto pay; lo and behold, there's a $25 "VA Inspection Fee". According to them, it's not a penalty, but a VA required fee since I was so far behind in my payments. They seemed to give a shit that it was their timing (triggering the transfer right at my payment date, therefore I start out 30 days since my last payment) and that I was talking to them to pay within days of the transfer. Moving this summer. Going to do all I can to ensure that sketch outfit doesn't end up servicing any future notes if I can.
  21. K4 pay isn’t spectacular, but it’s not Atlas by a long shot. That said, they asked for volunteers. They got plenty. This has been a win for those guys.
  22. Don’t know how long it’s been since you’ve been to WUH, but the view out of my 30th floor of the Hilton didn’t look very rural. That’s not to say many other points made (health care quality, dis-information, etc) aren’t valid.
  23. One of the toughest concepts for the average joe to wrap their brain around is that inflation isn't just something that happens naturally, as we've been conditioned to believe, and at the end of the day, it is really a back-door tax.
