  1. This is not the same guy as the Gen Keltz dude.
  2. QFT. I don't use my USAA card anymore... it just sits for that just in case moment.
  3. USAA plays by the rules more or less. If you had debt with them before going active then they lower all interest rates to 4% for anything incurred prior. They also lower your credit card interest rate back to 4% IIRC, for a year after you PCS.
  4. Sounds like I have a call to make. EDIT: Made the call, and after a conversation they are going to waive all fees and put the interest to 0% and refund all fees and interest paid. Snail mailed them a copy of my EAD orders so we will see how long that takes. Email would have been much better...
  5. What card do you have and how did you get them to waive? I have the USAirways card (Now changing to AA Arrivals or some BS) and sent them a message last year asking about SCRA and this is what I got back: "Dear The G-Man: Thank you for contacting us regarding your US Airways Dividend Miles MasterCard. We can certainly address your inquiry regarding the benefits on your account. Service Members who are called to active duty may be eligible for the following benefits: • 6% Annual Percentage Rate (APR) while on active duty only. The rate will cover any balances you have at the time you went into active duty; however, subsequent debt will not be covered and will reflect the nominal rate. • Exempt from administrative fees, such as late fees, etc. A letter will be sent 45 days prior to your APR changing back to the previous APR before going on active duty. If you have any other questions and concerns, please reply to this message. Sincerely, Customer Care"
  6. About 6 hrs worth and a painful rappel of about 20 feet. Class can get done early which is clutch because it is taught on a Friday. Wear a shitty flight suit.
  7. You were close. But I think you included guard guys. I'm in this class, let me break it down C17 Charleston C17 McChord C17 Travis C17 Dover C17 McGuire 130J Dyess 130J Little Rock 130H Yokota EC130H Davis-Monthan RC135 E3 KC135 McConnell That's it for Active duty Oh and the 38 dude that got C17 is to Travis for a total of 2 to Travis
  8. The answer I've heard from the club as to why has to do with them controlling the products they serve as a liability. Like say you were to bring a bad keg that made everyone sick, sts, they wouldn't be able to pinpoint the issue due to the "unknown" factor of the craft beer.
  9. They're issuing Wellco boots down here BTW. And the Toners are requiring wear of AF issue sunglasses too. AETC. Just shut up and color. Not to mention people running around in bags and Nike boots look really dumb anyways.
  10. Why would USAFA be mission essential (as far as flying goes)? It isn't like you get any actual ratings there. UPT is chugging along btw.
  11. Update: So I got the Platinum card and there is no $450 fee on my account. Does that get billed later? Or did putting "Commissioned Officer" on my application work?
  12. Not sure if this is a Laughlin-ism but we also: Did not stop moving between exercises meaning if you stopped doing crunches you had to run in place, or do jumping jacks in the mean time while we switched. So I just kept going past max reps. And then when you were done with that circuit you had to: Leg press your body weight 30 times Wall-sit for 1 minute 6 inch leg extension (starting position for flutter kicks) for 1 minute.
  13. My Flt commander right now was a KC-10 guy at Travis and he said he lived in Sacramento (single dude).
  14. XL had this on the 38 side: F-16 x2 Luke B-1 Dyess B-52 Barksdale T-38 FAIP T-1s I don't really remember them all, but there were C-130J x2 Dyess and a bunch of C-17 to all over.
  15. Better to ask for forgiveness later. Just don't say a thing.
  16. If you do end up making it to UPT, realize that pilot types will all act like this. If you throw out some dumb question, expect to get reamed. But really you should just leave if you don't like it.
  17. Where in this thread does it say 'tea party'?
  18. Awesome. To Vance it is then! They have been reassigning people from Whiting to Vance whenever a hiccup occurs.
  19. Hi, I am a recent ROTC grad with a pilot slot. Went to Wright-Patt back in November left not cleared, but not denied medically because it was at the consensus of the ophthalmology team there that I had some kind of infection causing my prescription to be different every morning when they brought me in. I was advised to see a civilian ophthalmologist and have them forward records to MFS. Did so in January. Somehow MFS never got them until I was notified that I could not get orders until FCI was done... wtf? Anyways, they got my paperwork in early June and almost immediately advised my ROTC cadre that they wanted me to see a specialist at Fort Bragg (I live in Charlotte, NC). Did so on 15 June. Went there and the Army docs at Bragg knew nothing of why I was there so I tried to explain my situation as best possible and they just gave me a full overview. Doc said that the only real issue with my eyes is excessive astigmatism. He said that I will likely be DQ'ed because in my right eye the Cyl Power is -2.00 and limit is -1.00. Well, I looked at the AF waiver guides and my interpretation of them is different based on the table saying that >1.50 and <3.00 is waiverable by AETC. It seems my cadre are not working today... grr. Anyways, right now my prescription sits at this: OD Sphere= pl Cyl= -2.00 Axis= 010 OS Sphere= -.50 Cyl= -1.25 Axis = 180 Am I going to get this vision waiver? Or will it be downgraded, and I get a new AFSC, likely WSO/CSO training? I guess ROTC/AETC/AFPC is in a tight spot because I commissioned 11 May, and my EAD is supposed to be 27 Jun to NAS Whiting, with IFS date of 19 Jul. haha, lets see what happens.
