Goldfein advocating FAA 1500 hour rule change???

Absolutely not. But you have yet to post anything positive, at least as it relates to anyone other than yourself Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums -
Timing and luck are 90% of everything in the AF. This is a solid part of that. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

Not really any new info, but good timing for the conversation https://www.stripes.com/news/us/stop-loss-an-option-for-air-force-to-stem-pilots-departure-to-airlines-1.462909#.WOw-iWVOmaO Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums -
If you live west of base and want to hit up Pensacola instead of driving all the way to Destin, but avoid 98, there's a great drive from Navarre beach all the way to a Pensacola beach. It's low traffic and a much more pleasant way of getting there than dealing with 98. It's been open for quite some time but I'm surprised how many people I meet who live here and don't know about it Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

General info on UPT (Undergraduate Pilot Training)
hispeed7721 replied to a topic in Pilot Selection Process
I would second what Duck said with a small addition...your class can make a horrible place awesome. You'll be spending a lot of time around these folks for 1-2 years, even more so if you all get along and hang out outside of training. Even the worst sh!tholes can produce a good time with a good group. Obviously you can't chose your classmates, but just something to keep in mind if/when you get a less than desirable UPT base Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums -
IFS (Initial Flight Screening) information
hispeed7721 replied to a topic in Pilot Selection Process
Don't sweat it man. There's no intent for you to show up to UPT "up to speed." Just don't be the guy that shows up and says "well during my PPL flying we did it this way"...that is where you'll get in trouble. There are differences in military and civilian procedures, but aerodynamics don't change. Take the limited stick and rudder experience you have and build on it. The procedural differences will be easy to transition, especially because you've only got 50-60 hours of flying Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums -
The overpass has helped with general traffic on 98 in front of the base but morning/afternoon traffic going into/out of base is still backed up and that will never change. The housing situation hasn't changed a ton in the 6 years since we've moved here...live east of the base if you can but there are still some nice areas in Navarre if you're ok with the traffic Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

This makes me literally laugh out loud. Most of our 16 year guys have 15-20 deployments, and everyone else is on about the same pacing regardless of time in. Totally different worlds... Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

Almost all AFSOC MWS' used to require prior time before assignment but since 2000-something they've been dropped out of UPT. There are still a handful of data masked MWS' that require prior assignments though Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

It's an AC-U nav, an AC-U EWO, or an AC-J CSO...most likely the latter as the J pipeline is being ramped up pretty heavily Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

We use these and everyone loves them. Comfortable, relatively lightweight, and work great with our EFBs https://loftactical.com/shop/sortie-glove/ Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

Tailhook's fallout will be tame compared to this, I'm thinking
hispeed7721 replied to brickhistory's topic in Squadron Bar
One article I read made it sound like a large portion of the pictures were taken from one of the female marine's instagram account. If that's the case, then she needs to learn that putting ANYTHING on the internet means it will be public at some point, whether you want it to be or not. If that's not the case, then at least the USMC took the heat off the AF for a bit Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums -
I would QC that info, I went there nearly a decade ago, so it might be more hours now. But unless the TDY pay is exponentially higher, I still wouldn't go. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

The amount of flight time you're going to get there isn't even close to worth the pain of dealing with that program, IMO. If 14 hours (assuming that's still the syllabus) is what makes or breaks you as a pilot, there's bigger issues. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

Unless it's changed, if you have a PPL then there must be extra paperwork done for you to go (IE someone has to have a very compelling reason to send you). Why on earth would you hold off on getting a PPL to force yourself to go to IFT? It's no longer a screening program, but there's still no reason to put yourself in the crosshairs of more queep if you don't have to. You will learn everything you need to at UPT, there's no reason to attend IFT if you can get a PPL and avoid it Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

Depending on what your flavor is, the AC-J has one CSO and one WSO (both come from UNT, UCT or whatever they're calling it now). The jobs are not the same, but there are cool aspects to both. nsplayr is absolutely correct though - CSOs aren't going anywhere anytime soon. You've got a good smattering of different MDS' that you can drop, with some very different missions across the board. As far as what each mission/MDS life looks like, check out the thread titled "How do you feel about your airframe and mission?"

Concur, 100%. I've got the Lee Turret press and it is the perfect mix b/w single stage and progressive. It is very beginner friendly when needed and can be used to produce at a decent rate once you're comfortable (obviously not as much as a full progressive press) Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums

Do You Think Blue-Suiters in T-6s Would Help?
hispeed7721 replied to xcraftllc's topic in General Discussion
Hurlburt has discussed this exact scenario. There's whispers of getting the prior gunship contractors re-qualified so they can fly qual for new AC/CPs. The biggest stumbling block (for us in particular) is what happens when a civilian is the A code and there is some kind of emergency involving live ordinance. Goldfein advocating FAA 1500 hour rule change???
hispeed7721 replied to 189Herk's topic in General Discussion
For companies like FedEx and UPS, I completely agree. But I don't think the general public will ever get behind pilot-less flight. The self-driving cars (that I've seen) still have all the controls for the person sitting in the seat to take over if needed. If you duplicate that concept to the airlines, well that's already in place via autopilot and the human pilot. I don't think it'll ever move to autopilot only, no human oversight. Dude, learn when to just stop. There are times (this being a prime example) where you just need to drop it and shut up for a bit. Regardless of the circumstances, it only makes things worse by trying to argue and defend yourself. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network Forums -
Went and saw "Split" the other night...it is definitely not for everyone, but I really enjoyed it. I thought it was a great redemption for Shyamalan, and it was an amazing performance by James McAvoy. The movie had good pacing, not a ton of action but a very good, tense psychological flick.
