  1. If talking with the flt doc writing your waiver doesn't resolve the issue then talk to the base Chief of Aerospace Medicine aka the SGP. You have the right to understand the process and reasoning behind the waiver and thus ensuring all relevant facts are included. Beyond that you can't dictate how the waiver is written but there is no reason flt med can't be transparent with you. You mentioned having access to your waiver so are you a medic of some sort? Going to another base and doing another FCI exam will throw red flags and not look favorably because it will look like doctor shopping and all the FCI exams flow through the same place AETC/SGPS and are kept on file to the end of the world + 1 hour.
  2. no, just a pulse
  3. IMHO, I think flight docs with flight experience are more valuable when assigned as medical officers for SIBs which is related to each of the three reasons pointed out by Jedi.

  6. There is some information in a 2010 Federal Air Surgeon's Bulletin regarding the risk of optic neuritis recurrence and development of multiple sclerosis as the underlying reason why waivers for initial flying class applicants are not considered. Page 9 of the pdf at the following link. https://www.faa.gov/other_visit/aviation_industry/designees_delegations/designee_types/ame/fasmb/media/201003_color.pdf
  7. I've been happy with ForeFlight on my iPad. I am also using Stratus for ADS-B weather which has worked out really nice.
  8. Note to self: contractor, medical chick & mind altering substance....avoid at all cost! Don't know if you remember the flight doc from the 80 FS that was convicted of rape in 2008 but had the same mix as the Wilkerson case. Dude spent 3 years in the pokey. https://afcca.law.af.mil/content/afcca_opinions/cp/seldes-37265.u.pdf
  9. Same at my Wing...directed for all wings by CSAF
  10. Had to laugh at this one, "TSgt Smith and others were repeatedly exposed for hours to pilots singing drinking songs from Dos Gringos"
  11. Whatever, taken out of context. If this individual feels the need to disclose this stuff I'd be good to have documentation. If not its a quicker DQ cause I ain't wasting my time on a guy that ain't prepared. In the end you do what your consciounce will live with.
  12. a_question49 you mentioned being from a long line of family with military service....does that mean you could have any of this stuff your asking about in the military electronic health records? In this day and age young military dependents past health records are readily available. If someone gets by the IFC screening and gets through UPT it might come up sts if you get a PRP assignment as all your past medical records are reviewed in detail. Just a thought. If you are to spooked to not report this then I think you'd be wise to see a cardiologist (preferably the one you saw before) and get them to put it in writing that you are healthy and do not have the issue of low blood pressure (esp neuro-cardiogenic orthostasis) and hopefully explain away what happen to you in the past. Same with all the other issues you are concerned...take all the stuff you gather and old medical records with you to get the FCI and hand it over this will make it a lot faster process. Additionally if you can bag a flight physical/commissioning physical somewhere other than going through MEPS you should do so.
