    Trucks

If you want new wait for the new F-150... Otherwise the Dodge is a great truck. The cost of the diesel though is tough to justify.
  3. First I've heard of it. I kinda don't know if I want them in the pattern... Plus I can see this ending the days of doing CT/EP sorties at home plate. I haven't been over there yet or talked to any afghanis so I don't really have an informed opinion.
  4. Woah. you'd think he'd have a trainer.
  5. ...There are virgins here? Or are you talking about the Space Port?
  6. There are worse places to sit around collecting per diem. It's only 4 hours from Wolf Creek. Taos, Sante Fe, and Angel Fire are all within 2.5 to 3 hrs. Flights to Vegas are cheap. The food's good and the night life beats out a lot of other places you could be. Oh! And it's only 3 hours from Cannon, so you can go house shopping on the weekends.
  7. WHYYYYYY is the only one that will still make my hair stand up, but I think that's just because its so very very bad.
  8. Read that last night. Had some good points that my friends and I have been discussion since getting out of Rucker. Something a little smaller than an H-3 with modern avionics and a drive train that we are used to would be nice. Also, having more room in the back would open up a bunch of options. A couple guys that have been the Afghanistan said some contractors used them up there, but they were power limited like the 60G even without guns, a probe, countermeasures, PJ's, and aux fuel. Pro's and Con's, but it seems like the Con's can be fixed with better engines and a stronger transmission/high speed shafts, flight controls.
  9. That is going to do wonders for their recruitment and retention! Sort of a service wide coming out?
  10. Sorry for the Necro-thread. This looks like it's mostly info for UPT studs and I couldn't find my answer anywhere else on the board. Has anyone had any experience with Moody's armory recently? I called them up and they made it sound like it wouldn't be a big deal to store them until I found a place to live. I fully plan to remove bolts and install trigger locks before handing them over, but I have a couple that I'd prefer to no be marred. I'm just tired of having them stored back in TX now that I'm finally getting to my first squadron post UPT.

    Gun Talk

That's an interesting looking rifle. Sort of a FAL/AR180. Those AR15.com dudes are an odd lot.
  12. Same guy almost gets schwacked by a wombat and claustrophobia. The fun starts at about 2:15 in.
  13. They almost ruled the pacific.
  14. They were doing that here...Only they were using a motorcyclist. That would have been effective.
  15. They do way more than four classes a fiscal year. More like 10-12 despite having the worst wx of any other squadron teaching in the UPT pipe line now that Whiting isn't around. They work hard, just saying.
  16. So the first time dudes are exposed to NVGs and low level is going to be at KABQ? Sounds like a good time.
  17. Dislcaimer: I know nothing about anything AFPC or how any of that works. I finished up Rucker last summer and as a student there it would have been nice to have someone with Osprey time to give a different perspective on the air frame and the community. While you're at the 23d you get a lot of the Huey and Pavehawk stories, but no one really has any up to date info on the V-22. Some classes are lucky enough to fly to KHRT for a XC where the Osprey dudes paint you a rosy picture for a couple hours, but that's about it. Good luck!

    Mustache March

Breath of fresh air that was.
  19. They had Rip-Its at the 23d...Seems like anyone who had ever deployed was in love with them. I stick to Red Bull if I'm not drinking coffee. Seems like this is just going to lead to people ordering cases of the stuff to bring with them. Y'all think if that happened they'd be cool with it, or start going through your shit looking for Rip-Its (etc..)?
  20. That's waaaaay to cheap for a good Zeej Edit: Timing
  21. Talking with my friends from college that went Army Aviation and the Guard capt in my class that is a former army guy, the USAF syllabus forces you to be a more well rounded pilot right out of the gate. Plus I like the USAF PR mission better than what the Army uses its helos for.
  22. I went through NAS WF in one of the last classes before going to Mother Rucker. I'd go back in a heart beat as an IP despite double turns, triples sometimes, and flying weekends every now and again. The instructors have to get upgrades to do certain sortie types as far as I remember. When you get out of the FITU you can do all the contact/ Instrument stuff. I think you have to get upgrade training to fly the LL and Formation sorties. I'm not understanding how this is even a question after hearing stories from friends that had to go through Del Rio. The P-Cola, Milton, Eglin area has a ton to offer as far as cheap fun goes when you aren't flying.
  23. Reading this makes me even happier that I got saved from an intel slot by my pilot slot a few years ago. These stories are beyond absurd. What purpose does this shit serve other than showing subordinates how big a stick you have and wasting their brain bites on trying to avoid getting schwacked.
  24. This is a good thread. I learned most of how not to manage money from seeing my parents struggle up until a couple years ago. I didn't learn all the lessons though, cause I took out the stupid USAA Career Starter Loan. I used some of it to jump start my Roth IRA when I graduated, but most of it I used for a car to replace my 27 year old truck. Well, the truck has out lasted the car and I just about have my student loans and my USAA loan paid off. I have enough to cover a few months expenses on hand plus half of that in cash, plus my Roth IRA (6k), TSP (2k), and Roth TSP. I've been in for a little over 2 years and am finishing up IQT, any pro-tips to help me get ahead of the curve as far as where to start with investing more aggressively? I know nothing. . .
