Short tour stuff, especially trying to learn from the AFIs, can get confusing quickly. Read relevant posts here and look around on the AFPC website. Assignments to Korea are pretty much all remote short tours. But if you get assigned to Osan, you could get command sponsorship for your spouse (permission to bring your family over). The 'standard' remote tour is one year but you can extend in six month or one year increments. However, if you extend all the way to three years, you will not get credit for a short tour. Depending on your airframe or job, you will probably have a short tour at some point in your career, so many volunteer in order to choose when/where they go. However, realize that if you volunteer straight out of training (can be a good idea), you may get voluntold for a second tour down the road. The number of volunteers you will find at a given short tour will depend greatly on how good or bad of a deal it is. Flying assignment in Korea - probably 100% volunteers. Coffee bitch at the Died - probably not.

That spoof is awesome. Did she really work that hard to get that title? Shouldn't she have 'worked so hard' to provide her constituents with a good representative government instead? A DITY from CONUS to CONUS is almost always viable and you should make a decent chunk of change. It just depends on if it is worth it to you or not. I think I made well over a grand profit on my last DITY and it was a much shorter distance than you're moving.

No, the assumption of innocence only applies to legal proceedings. OJ Simpson may have been found not guilty in court but he is still guilty to me. You also might be a little more convincing if you quit calling people racist. I haven't seen any posts here that refer to what country the people came from. Most of us are well aware that domestic terrorism is also a very credible threat and I think you would see similar reactions here regardless of the color of skin or last names.

My response was the answer given to me by a soldier when I asked the same question (I'm an ALO right now). But I disagree that it would not stop a bullet. A picture on post 8 on this page is of a barrel that blew out from being shot with a bore sight in the end of the barrel. I have seen similar pictures from mud and things that are not even physically attached to the rifle or metal like the adapter is. It would not be pleasant for the shooter or anyone within a few feet, but chances are the shooter is the one who screwed up in the first place. Either way it would probably be better than being shot. BTW, I agree with you that the BALO program really would help pilots, but would not always be practical.

Correct, they attach to and block the end of the barrel in case somehow a live round ended up in the chamber. One complaint I have heard about the ACUs is the velcro pockets. Nice for in base, but if you're trying to be quiet and need something in your pocket, you're SOL. Other than that, most of the JTACs and guys who actually work in the field would take the ACUs over the crappy uniform we have now.

Sounds like a shoe making stuff up in order to scare people since allpme.com does not have anything on SOS. The SOS page says (in bold print) "In addition, students may not rely upon the insights of others, including students (past or present), for answers to, or inputs on assessments (proctored examinations). This behavior may be considered test compromise and constitutes cheating and may be punishable under the UCMJ." I read that to mean that you cannot have any material that tells you what is on the test. This would probably include material that someone highlighted after taking the test or any 'focused' study guide. However, this only mentions the test, nothing about the readings. Based on their own policies, I don't see how you could get in trouble for using a cliff's notes type study guide on the readings. For these and any other Air Force test, as long as you are studying the lessons and not the test itself, you are probably safe.

What website did you buy it through? Did the guy have some positive previous buyer feedback? Also, I'm assuming that it was across state lines which should make it a federal offense. Have you called the FBI to see if they can do anything?

I think you guys may be overestimating the 'gouge' available. The stuff I have seen is literally nothing more than cliff notes type stuff on the readings. Even the shoeiest shoeclerk would probably be unable to misconstrue a rule to prohibit it. That being said, people around here are going to be very hesitant to share anything that might have the chance of coming back to haunt them with someone who just joined the board to try to get gouge.

tripilot: yes, the Air Force still pays for some languages. I doubt that Spanish is one of them, but you never know. I have used Rosetta Stone and Pimsleur in the past and both programs have their pluses and minuses. Pimsleur was my favorite because it is mp3, so I could do the lessons in the car on the way to work. I also just started using www.livemocha.com and like it so far. It is free to do the early lessons and then if you like it you can buy more lessons for pretty cheap compared to a lot of other programs.

It may be slightly off topic, but is still related and relevant. That's why with very few exceptions you shouldn't introduce yourself as your callsign unless you're talking to an officer. Seems to be two similar threads on this, but this one seems to have better information. My wife and I just got life insurance from AAFMAA. Some other advice I received is to make a list of every financial account you have. Don't need account numbers or anything but a simple list that is easy to find can make life a lot easier on your family if something bad happens.
