How is that different than any other service? I know it's a crapshoot, will see how long it last. Has the US gone 10 years without airlines laying people off? And what if he doesn't want to fly for the airlines? The whole officer first thing has gone out the window in the AF.
I thought you liked my sarcasm :) Rainman was the only one on this forum who preached AD over the Guard/reserves.

Wouldn't 24 hours of operations help? How are you liking it? Seems like the schedule is the worst thing for a full timer but a good thing for the part time guys.
Someone on an older post said C-5 peeps were making 60k plus per diem. Units were offering 14 day orders a month.
That still sounds like a lot of weekends.
Haha, if you stay away from the bay and LA you should be fine. Sac is a cool town with lots to do and not terribly expensive compared to the rest of the state. If you like the outdoors, recreation is free.
Right, 60's in January. Surfing and skiing on the same day. Trips to wine country and the central coast. Sounds like a terrible place :barf: If your AD just make sure your a resident of another state so you don't have to worry about the 9% income tax rate. If you stay away from the bay Northern California isn't that expensive.
This sounds like the total opposite of what Hindsight said. Of course being a captain can change that.

Is it easy to get full time orders? Bumming in a drone sounds odd. Any chance they would put a Pred or Reaper unit at Beale? Do they rotate weekends and holidays?
Is it the same for Agr and Art positions? Do they even offer those jobs in the reserves?
