  1. I was thinking the same thing
  2. How much "un-interrupted conversation" can you have in a .3 and .2 sortie?
  3. The Marines Security Detachment at the Embassy where I used to work definitely policed themselves. They were true professionals and the AF NCO corps should emulate them.
  4. I work at state hq and have heard nothing about a hiring freeze.
  5. Almost every honkeytonk bar on Broadway in Nashville sells PBR. Every time I go down there, I have to have at least one.
  6. I don't have the reg in front of me, but I believe that is true. I was PV'd into Major under this example, so to me, that makes it possible. That has been over 4 yrs ago, so I am not sure if anything has changed. IRT to the AGR promotions, it is regulated by the "Control Grade" issue as previously mentioned. A good thing to remember is that you are not automatically added to the "control grade list", you have to make sure that HRO puts you on it. I do not believe they will do it unless you (or your supervisor/commander) ask them to do it and it has to be requested via e-mail or memo. I am lucky enough to be in an O-5 position and on the control grade list-I believe I am #1 on the list for O-5 promotion when I become eligible later this year. Doesn't mean I will automatically get promoted, but will be promotion-eligible and that all of the wickets that I can control have been accomplished.
  7. What was the end result? Did the 123rd hire you?
  8. My unit did the same thing to one of our guys while in the desert in '03. Nearly same results and the guys still laugh their asses off when it gets brought up again.
  9. I talked to the Mob Readiness office here and they said it is true, but taken out of context. Nobody has a 4 month spin-up anymore. A BCT may be 60 days, but the overall system is now down to 45 days. They now have a 12 month mob timeline-which includes pre-mob training and the "BOG" time in theater. So they are only gone from their families for 12 months. They are restricted to base, but it is due to the "bad apples" that were mentioned earlier. Not sure about the family being allowed on base to see the soldier.
  10. That is just craziness! I work in a Joint Forces Headquarters that is mainly ARNG and I can't wait to hear what my counterparts have to say about this one.
  11. My Vermont skiing trip was the worst one I have ever taken. I vowed to never ski there again, and I haven't. I have loved skiing Utah every time I have been out there.
  12. Yeah, looks like he was never taught how to wear a beret or blouse his boots. Hard to tell, but it doesn't look like he has the standard CCT badges.
  13. Not an expert, but I thought these guys were the defense attaches that are winged aviators? If that is the case, then they would have to also go thru DATT school for a year prior to their assignment.
  14. I don't necessarily disagree, but just because someone wears a bag does not mean they are not capable of leading enlisted troops. What about a prior mx enlisted troop who gets a pilot slot? Or just a prior enlisted (say they made E-6 prior to commissioning) pilot? I would just warn about such broad statements.
  15. Paint with a broad brush very often? So who is ready to "command over 200 enlisted which before they just commanding a few bag wearing officers"?

It's all in the charcoal mellowing, so I will stick with my home state.

Or better yet, Tennessee Sipping Whiskey. Ideally of the Single Barrel persuasion.
  19. What I hate about BSU is that damn neon blue field! It gives me a headache. The SEC rocks!!
  20. "I was terrified," she said. "You don't hear or see them until they're upon you, and then it's like being in a war zone." So, then you only hear them for about 5 secs? 5 secs of a 24 hour day is a problem? F****** bitchy, whiny people!
  21. And "thank you" for your service!
  22. Recently picked-up my second BMW purchased from them, a 2011 528i. I was overseas on a 2-yr assignment and PCS'd back home in April. Ordered the car before leaving. Did the Performance Center Delivery down in SC and I HIGHLY recommend it for anyone bringing the new car to the States. On the price-saved about $8K. No sales tax for active duty military living/stationed in TN.
  23. I think I saw this plane today when I was doing some Pro work down in KCHA. It was at the FBO and then on our last approach, he was in the hammerhead. Was around 1130 EST. to our fallen comrades.
