My unit did the same thing to one of our guys while in the desert in '03. Nearly same results and the guys still laugh their asses off when it gets brought up again.
I talked to the Mob Readiness office here and they said it is true, but taken out of context. Nobody has a 4 month spin-up anymore. A BCT may be 60 days, but the overall system is now down to 45 days. They now have a 12 month mob timeline-which includes pre-mob training and the "BOG" time in theater. So they are only gone from their families for 12 months. They are restricted to base, but it is due to the "bad apples" that were mentioned earlier. Not sure about the family being allowed on base to see the soldier.
That is just craziness! I work in a Joint Forces Headquarters that is mainly ARNG and I can't wait to hear what my counterparts have to say about this one.
My Vermont skiing trip was the worst one I have ever taken. I vowed to never ski there again, and I haven't. I have loved skiing Utah every time I have been out there.
Not an expert, but I thought these guys were the defense attaches that are winged aviators? If that is the case, then they would have to also go thru DATT school for a year prior to their assignment.
I don't necessarily disagree, but just because someone wears a bag does not mean they are not capable of leading enlisted troops. What about a prior mx enlisted troop who gets a pilot slot? Or just a prior enlisted (say they made E-6 prior to commissioning) pilot? I would just warn about such broad statements.
"I was terrified," she said. "You don't hear or see them until they're upon you, and then it's like being in a war zone."
So, then you only hear them for about 5 secs? 5 secs of a 24 hour day is a problem? F****** bitchy, whiny people!
Recently picked-up my second BMW purchased from them, a 2011 528i. I was overseas on a 2-yr assignment and PCS'd back home in April. Ordered the car before leaving. Did the Performance Center Delivery down in SC and I HIGHLY recommend it for anyone bringing the new car to the States. On the price-saved about $8K. No sales tax for active duty military living/stationed in TN.
I think I saw this plane today when I was doing some Pro work down in KCHA. It was at the FBO and then on our last approach, he was in the hammerhead. Was around 1130 EST. to our fallen comrades.
I believe it is based off years of active duty service, at least that is how it was when I was commissioned 10 years ago. I'm a Guard guy, but had enough AD time (4 years) to qualify for O-1E.
I got to experience my first one last weekend. We started drinking at 0600 at the airport in Sofia and had a few more at the Munich airport before heading downtown on the train. WOW! is all I can say. You just have to go to understand how large of a party this really is. Never been around so many people drinking beer in one location. Be careful to not leave the "tent" after about 1600 unless you do not want to get back in. They close the doors and don't let anyone in. I guess it is to prevent overcrowding, but I think they waited a little too long. Will definitely go back next year!!
I would concur. Currently doing the Online Masters Course for ACSC and the Practice of Command class mentions this a few times. Reason is that it would show that the SQ/CC relates to his non-flyers.
I guess I need that decoder ring as well. I only understood about a third of what was written. And pulling someone off a flight to fill sandbags is UNSAT! Especially at a base outside of the "box".
