The thought of being a Captain on active duty for the rest of my career is sickening. I know they say your ADSC is reset to 20 years but I just don't buy it. I don't want to invest another 10 years in some job where I may or may not get a pcs or two and make it to 18 years and get the news that I've been selected to be part of FY 20XX RIF. That would probably happen at year 18 and then where am I? The same place I am right now but 8 years older and MUCH more bitter. There is something to be said about job satisfaction, and knowing AF management right now I'd probably get my EP/IP status revoked "so someone else can get the chance to grow..." Fuck that, I'm gone 23 Sept and off to the Reserves.

Besides being stuck in a dead end career, assigned all the shitty jobs that nobody wants. Absolutely nothing. There are better jobs on the outside that come with a fraction of the bs, or a different kind of bs.

No, after the initial shock/anger of being passed over for Major most of us realized that it is a blessing in disguise.

Don't worry the AF is doing the same thing they did in last years Majors Board. They are doing what they need to do short term but are screwing themselves in the long term. As one of the casualties of that board I have come to realize that all the hard work and dedication over the past 9+ years means exactly nothing to a bunch of "leaders" so far removed from the actual pulse of the AF, that I can't wait to see them choke on the mess that was created. Without going too far into details, the grass is already looking greener on the other side of the fence. So what I'm trying to tell you is everything happens for the reason and this will be better for you in the long run. cheers

So, I'm a recently passed over Capt and expect to be passed over again next year and was told that a continuation was probable, my question is would I get The Bonus when my committment is up? I'm looking at all options right now and have been looking at Palace Chase to at least get established in life after AD. Here's the kicker, I was told by a buddy in the squadron, also a recently passed over Capt, that he asked the CC about the possibility of Palace Chase and was told that he would be denied because he is too valuable and we are hurting for people. WTF!? I guess not valuable enough to fight for a DP...

I'm not sure what command you're in but Masters absolutely was a discriminator in AFSOC at least at Cannon... By the way my squadron was 6 of 17 for the wing that did not get picked up. I can't wait to jump this sinking ship... cheers
