  1. For anyone in the know: Several guys have asked me how line numbers for promotion are determined? I don't have a good answer. I've heard anecdotally that USAFA graduates have lower line numbers to keep their pin-on dates ahead of OTS/ROTC, but I've seen where that is not always the case. Does the "scoring" from the board play into it at all?
  2. And one of the pilots is their squadron commander. Take note, active duty box-checkers: this is how you fucking LEAD.
  3. Also, it seems that several year groups are "safe" from the RIF based on the less than 1 year TIG or on a promotion list stipulations. New Capts are out of luck since they have less than six years in, but '03 just finished pinning on O-4, '04 is on deck with the first line numbers starting in Jan (slowly), not to mention the guys pinning on/on the list for O-5 (99-2000 year groups?) Edit: According to PSDM 13-130, it looks like the '03 year group is vulnerable to the RIF based on the less than one year TIG prior to 31 Jan 2015 stipulation.
  4. And '04 is on a promotion list. Not necessarily. Less than one year TIG or on a promotion list are supposedly ineligible.
  5. I thought you said you were getting out...?
  6. For fucks sake, can't these clowns get anything right?
  7. So are they publishing any sort of other criteria?
  8. "Ahead of the final vote, Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., tried unsuccessfully to use a parliamentary tactic to force a vote on the amendment, which he wrote to undo the cuts for military retirees." https://topstories.foxnews.mobi/quickPage.html?page=17224&content=100867436&pageNum=1
  9. My OWA site changed from my base name to an Andrews site after the AFNET migration.
  10. Helmet/visor, baby!
  11. Da fuck...?
  12. Looks JUST ugly enough to replace the Hawg should it suffer its untimely demise. Now if only it could take off from a short deck boat.... F-35B problem solved.
  13. How about just wear whatever puke green boots you want until someone calls you out? In that event, go into the attic and get down your issued puke green flight-approved boots until the compliance inspection is over or the shoe clerk that called you out departs the fix. Then resume normal ops. Edit: unless you're a UPT stud. In which case, do whatever the hell they tell you to do and wear what they tell you to wear for a year or so. You'll manage, and you'll certainly have bigger fish to fry and need not highlight yourself over a pair of puke green Nike boots.
  14. Yet the news is celebrating the passage of this bill in the House as a hallmark of cooperation.
  15. If this bill is passed you will get less money as a military retiree.
  16. Looks that way. Depending on when the '05 year group's O-4 results come out, they could be boned.
  17. "...you just have to serve longer..."
  18. ^ Thanks. My imbedding skills are lacking.
  19. Google the video "children of the magenta line" and watch it on YouTube.
  20. Great post, Hoss. I'm on my cell so I'm not going to go crazy snipping quotes, but you backed a lot of your post up with actual data--somethjng that a lot of people who get emotional about this discussion fail to do. The only thing we can't control are senior raters failing to make that quality cut of who their real stars are making things happen for the good of the organization and who simply looks good on paper.
  21. They will do as much tinkering as they can without actually "changing" retirement. To all the new guys reading: if you are just planning on using your mil pension as your retirement, you're wrong. Start maxing out a Roth IRA and/or your TSP *yesterday*!
  22. I almost want to take you up on that if you're willing to bet on it...
