  1. Scoobs, list credentials or shut the fuck up.
  2. BODN is supposed to be my sanctuary. Now we are discussing the pros and cons of "C-Method" vs "Thematic" PRF writing. Worlds have collided. Ugh.
  3. I should have added a caveat at the bottom that I wasn't trying to shit on you, and no apology is necessary. I acknowledge that it is difficult to interpret emotion on the interwebs. Unless you're a douche (I don't know you... you don't come across as such, though), I am glad that things have worked out for you. I like seeing good things happen to good people. You have a good story. It definitely falls into the, "see, it can be done" category.
  4. You have mentioned your story in some form or another a few times... I hope you realize just how lucky you are, and that your story is definitely an anomaly.
  5. A visit to your base by a particular three star in the AMC chain of command will trigger similar foolishness. Saw it first hand. Ridiculous.
  6. Good data with the rest of your post, but you lost me in the finale... So, just because someone is doing relatively "well" in this system means they have to embrace it?
  7. Depends... Do you have your AAD? (seriously)
  8. So..... It's the "system" and nothing else? The best and brightest our nation have to offer can't turn the rudder on this ship? "Well, I had to do it, so the next crop will have to do it as well." I say "spineless" because I see men and women appointed to "leadership positions" that make it clear through their priorities and decisions that they are in it to continue advancing in this bureaucratic machine. I acknowledge that there are exceptions. But for the most part, many of these people that have prospered under the "up or out" system fall into the category of "spineless". Yes, Liquid, I take exception to your assertion that the promotion system works. My focus is not necessarily on those who don't pay to play and wind up getting passed over. I am talking about the officers among us that calculate their next move to rise on the corporate ladder versus making things better and taking care of their Airmen. I have seen this type of management first-hand on multiple occasions, and it is a cancer to our service. So, please tell me again how you can say that our promotion system does it right yet people that simply cannot lead prosper in our current climate because they can bang out AAD/PME, schmooz with the best of them, and write one hell of an award package.
  9. ^ Didn't see the original post but I LOLed.
  10. His answer will be to tote the party line just like every other spineless manager in this service... "Go ahead and get out... We will replace you." This is already happening. What's the avg time in service of guys getting sent to IP school in your respective communities, and how is it different from, say, 10 years ago? The VSP from about 6 years ago rocked my community, and accelerated upgrades have been the solution.
  11. I'm about to start Joint... Not looking forward to it from everything I've heard.
  12. Are you referring to someone off this last O-4 board? I know someone that sounds exactly like what you described. (No, is not me.) My focus is in the other direction. What about the guys that are picked out of the litter to be shiney toys on the basis of strats, SOS DG, or being a graduate of a particular school/program, and then, as it turns out, they can't lead their way out of a wet paper bag? In fact, their personality is actually an infection to morale in their unit as a result. There are multiple examples of that in our AF and a clear indicator that our system doesn't always get it right.
  13. You sound a lot like a certain 3-star in upper mgmt at AMC that is soon-to-retire.
  14. Just. Stop. Typing. Search, read, absorb.
  15. Still an asset... I guess someone thinks even the broken fuselage of a $65M aircraft is worth guarding until they either recover it or destroy it and gather the parts. That, or they don't want the Chinese getting ahold of our microwave oven and reverse-engineering it.
  16. The problem with that logic is a player would not be potentially booted for not desiring to become a manager or coach. They would just let him play. The current "up or out" mentality in the USAF could not be any further from that. Please disregard the "like" to your post - inadventant click when I was going for the "Quote" button. On the contrary, I find most of your blue Koolaid-chugging drivel to be quite nauseating.
  17. You can't be serious.
  18. Love me some BODN dick measuring. What's next, fellas? Comparing post count or number of "likes"? Really?
  19. This thread is already not what I thought it was going to be about. Edit: thread title changed. It used to be something about "intimacy with pilots". Now I'm double disappointed.
  20. And deal with DVs all the time? Eff that. I'll pay for my own type rating.
  21. God bless 'em
  22. Recommend re-post in "WTF" thread.
