  1. Just when I thought this thread couldn't get any better... In comes the 1Lt "wing exec" spouting off promotion advice! You can't script this shit!
  2. Sheer brilliance. Might be my new signature line.
  3. LOL Never gets old.
  4. Still LOLing. Troll on, troll.
  5. LOL
  6. You can save the marked up file in a separate folder in good reader that doesn't have to be deleted when you update your pubs. Stan eval approved.
  7. What about a standalone mission planning computer? No special locked down IOS - just the threat of a pubs Q3 if one is found to have done anything else on the EFB other than its intended use. No one has pressed to test, yet.
  8. When I spend $7,500, I get $7,500 worth of a product or service, and peace of mind. Also, I forgot to mention earlier that there have been studies done (not going to waste time finding the links, and I don't have them bookmarked) that people tend to spend more money when they "swipe" with a credit card versus pay in cash, mainly because people tend to think twice about spending money on something when they use cash versus swiping a card - probably because spending cash has been proven to trigger responses in the brain that stimulate the pain receptors, versus swiping a card which actually stimulates satisfaction. Listen guys, I'll never convince you otherwise, and you'll never convince me. That's cool . My kids will grow up learning that they pay cash for everything, and if they look in their wallet/purse/piggy bank/whatever, they wait to buy it, and they will never go in debt to anyone with the exception of a house in which the payment will fall within a certain percentage of their income given a certain type of mortgage. Enjoy your miles and .69% rebates!
  9. Because the only person you "owe" any money to when you use a debit card is yourself. Not a credit card company. I started using a debit card in the same manner as epsilon a while ago and I have not looked back. I have a separate account with a debit card(free with USAA) that I keep a minimum amount of money in and contribute to every paycheck. I think of what is in there as my line of credit, and if I dip below that pre-determined minimum amount, then I owe that back to myself. I know that people who have given up on credit cards will always seem a little cooky to those that swear by them and take advantage of all of their little bennies/promos, just like you guys seem crazy for playing with the snakes that are credit card companies every month. We will all probably wind up in similar financial situations when it is all said and done. The difference is that I will never have owed any body anything when I get there.
  10. Thanks for reading us in, scoobs.
  11. Fatal Attraction much?
  12. I love when the "credit" discussion comes up. You guys continue to crack me up when you insist that "using" credit cards is somehow contributing to your wealth. You are doing nothing but putting money into the hands of credit card companies. Plain and simple. Want to be wealthy one day? Start paying in CASH and live on a budget that puts every dollar in its place every week. You'll feel like you got a pay raise, and you won't owe anything to anybody.
  13. Fucking navs...
  14. I've read about 50 pages of it so far on a TDY and it has been great. I hope the colsultation he got before hitting print was thorough, because the brass seems to be pretty hard-up about this. Either way, always cool to get a glimpse through the looking glass and see what these amazing individuals do.
  15. Why not just bring it....?
  16. LOL! An "MWS-guy" vs FAIP poo-flinging AETC extravaganza. BODN, you never disappoint.
  17. Belongs in WTF thread.
  18. They are a Guard unit.
  19. Here's what gets me about the bonus. 125K before taxes for an extra 5 years does not seem all that enticing, especially when you consider that if you are taking the bonus you are probably committing to retirement. So, how long will it take to get roughly 90K (125K after 25% taxes) on an O-5s retirement pension? Definitely less than 5 years. That being said, having the ability to leave, especially the ability to 3 day opt when the 365 good deal fairy pays a visit, is nice, but your options would also be limited if you three day opted as it's a little hard to have something lined up on the outside on the off chance you punch out. Oh, decisions. But I know one thing -- I enjoy AD less with every passing day.
  20. Hard to do when AMC treats this thing like an overpriced e-Reader.
  21. Help me out here. If you "achieve" 20 years of total active duty time between the time you spent on AD and then the active duty time you pull while in the Guard/Reserves, when do you become a member of the Check of the Month Club? Still have to wait? Or do you start receiving money as soon as you retire?
  22. Can't see if you're not looking...
