  1. Most of what I would say has already been addressed, so I'll add two things I'd like to emphasize: -NO (and I mean NO) woman is worth giving up a UPT slot. (And yes, I'm married). -If you are already thinking about SIEing, you've got a long road ahead. You may want to reconsider your career choices, but for the love of God, don't do it over a woman. Reconsider because it is a year-long kick in the balls and a good couple of years after that of trap-shut, ears-open OJT without getting butt-hurt when someone says you suck (and you will). It is, however, the best job in the world, and beats the hell out of "working for a living". ...Oh yeah, we really do need to see pics of this broad to see what all of the hoop-lah is about.
  2. Just wow. Isn't that why PT scores are required to be placed in your mobility folder before a deployment?
  3. And here I thought all of the bases were named after old, old wooden ships.
  4. ROTC time doesn't count.
  5. Plenty of booze, and a drunk/naughty Santa. Can't miss.
  6. Toro, Did you happen to hear a definitive answer on whether or not individuals that had been previously-ineligible for the Mont. GI Bill (i.e., ROTC scholarship recipients and Academy grads) are now fully eligible for the 9/11 GI Bill?
  7. Calculator, schmalculator. Just treat every night on TDY like it's your last. Spend all that you can, party like a rock-star, then figure out what you were supposed to get later.
  8. I flew a mission in the AOR on the Air Force birthday. Almost every single agency I dealt with (except for ATC and MX) did their best to try and ensure the mission was not a success. Crappy ATOC, clueless protocol, inept command post workers, out-of-touch AMD, non-existent crew trans - you name it. Happy Birthday indeed, Air Force. You really outdid yourself today.
  9. HC guys must truly be the red-headed step-children of the red-headed step-children - getting bagged on by your own community..... damn.
  10. I have been known to say that time and time again... I would much rather live in tents, eat MREs, etc. if it meant no shoes around to "manage" all the extraneous crap in this "combat zone." When deployed bases start having SAVs, Room Inspections, and exercises.... when people have TIME to coordinate and oversee that crap.... it's time for some folks to go home. As long as there's shit and people to move, I'll stay, but send some of these noners home so those who actually have a mission in this fight can get on it with it unimpeded. Some crusty guy said it best to me: "When Services began to show up on base, I knew the 'war' was over."
  11. I'd also heard a rumor (probably on here) about the Baltimore unit being an associate unit - that wouldn't be bad either! A while back someone said that the 41AS leadership was resistant to having "legacy" guys flow into the -J. Is this still the case? I'm about 1.5 years from PCSing and Js are at the top of my list.
  12. TJ's barbershop in Jacksonville. It's in that little "triangle" between the east- and west-running road leading to 67/167. Right next to the recruiting station. Great haircut/straight razor shave. And, he's a former Army "Tomb" Guard.
  13. Hopefully all 64 pages (and counting) of this thread are printed out into a nice packet and given to the incoming CC as required reading when he assumes command. Edit: is/are confusion.
  14. I didn't even make the connection that it was him until you brought that up. I, too, was at CAFB during his tenure. Agreed - he seemed like a good guy.
  15. ^Good point. We are always being told to kiss the asses of our gracious hosts, but we (as operators) rarely run into actual host nation personnel (as opposed to TCNs), as they are hardly on base here. Maybe the leadership that hobnobs with these folks should follow their own advice, since they appear to be the only ones that actually have regular interactions with them.
  16. Ahhh that Austin Hilton - the stage of countless weekends of sheer tomfoolery during pilot training. Memories.
  17. So does this mean that one can in fact have his cake AND eat it too?
  18. Nope, it exists. I shit you negative. XL - Please, please, please tell me that wasn't from someone in the 386 AEW. Please.
  19. Or get your jollies off, in this case.
  20. Oh come on.... No one else thinks that's a gold mine?? Porn's porn, people.
  21. Shame that a Yokota tail is even associated with that douche nozzel.
  22. Hence why no one wants to grow one in the desert anymore, myself included. I remember some SNCO asking me, "Is your mustache in regs?" to which I honestly replied, "How should I know what the regs are? I don't wear one of these things when I'm home. It's a desert stache." I tried trimming it to make it "in regs", but it looked retarded so I shaved it. No longer worth the hassel.
  23. Exactly.
  24. 1. I can see in real-time what charges are going on my personal card via the website. 2. I don't have a minimum monthly payment on my personal credit card. 3. Even if I did have a minimum monthly payment, I wouldn't have to pay the FULL amount due all at once like I have to with the GTC. 4. The aforementioned nasty-grams associated with the GTC. Sounds like some pretty good reasons to me. And I didn't even mention reward points....
  25. That's a shame. Dustoff is a pretty noble mission. While it's not the CSAR mission that you guys train for, getting the opportunity to take wounded men off the battlefield to safety is nothing to complain about. Maybe some of your co-workers should have read about Mike Novosel.
