  1. Doesn't the Navy still do it? Or use colored tape or something? Did their LS folks come up with some kind of new way to inspect for cracks with paint/colored tape on the helmets?
  2. Don't rule out senior military colleges (privately-owned) either.... Norwich (my alma mater), Citadel, VMI, A&M Corps of Cadets, etc. Approximately the same suck if you are into that sort of thing (more or less), but you get to be in a class with a group of different commissioning sources, too. You can get ROTC to pay for your tuition at these places. Something to keep in mind....
  3. When I got to Columbus mid-Aug 04, they didn't have room in the dorms for the single O's arriving at the same time for 2-3 weeks. We lived in billeting until dorms became available, and then we were able to put our names on the list to move off base.
  4. Or by searching the forum topics, or by clicking on the "USAF UPT" link at the top of the page.
  5. Happens more than you would think.
  6. T-44s down at Corpus Christi. I know you probably think we are inferior to the carnivorous T-38 track, but I'm loving it and have no regrets whatsoever about putting this as my first choice, and I can't wait to get into the tac airlift mission.
  7. I am about 8 months through the 12-month UPT program, and I'd say, so far, I've studied an average of about 3-5 hours per night, not counting Friday and Saturdays, which I take off.
  8. Considering only about 1/10 of 1% of the nation's college-aged youth choose a military academy (federal or private) lifestyle, I would say, "A lot."
  9. I made money off BAH in Columbus. And I recall working with a Ms. Cindy. Never heard of a "Linda" in the housing office there.
  10. Linda's dead-on, as usual, but as a quick synopsis.... (Because I must take a break from studying) Expect to live on base in the dorms. They have waiting lists at each base for studs to move off base and start drawing BAH. I was casual at my UPT base for 8 months before starting, and my name came up to move off base (coincidentally) right at 8 months. Caveat #1: The Base Housing lady at CAFB said she had no real problems with studs getting a place off base, keeping "their" dorm room on the books, but just not drawing any housing allowance. "If I don't know about it, I don't care" kind of deal. Caveat #2: I hear that at XL, studs can room up in Base Housing sometimes. Don't know too much about that though. [ 11. 11. Awesome pictures! Did anyone notice the picture of the Italian Frecce Tricolori? (2 pics below the BONE). They appear to be some kind of demo team, but if you look closely, the guy on the right (with respect to the pilots) is in the back seat flying, while the other two appear to be in the front... Any idea why the one guy would be flying from the back?
  12. Giving your two cents on your fifth post...... The math doesn't really add up to me.
  13. In your fifth month of pilot training. Check out the USAF UPT section on the Baseops site... It does a good job of outlining the program and selection process.
  14. I just threw up in my mouth a little recalling the taste of Weed.
  15. Nice post!

  17. I only remember doing 1 low level in the Tweet at CAFB
  18. If there's no authority around to clarify the reg, then there shouldn't be too many people around to shwack you if you're wrong...
  19. Don't they clash?
  20. Ehhh.... I don't know about all of that now....
  21. After repeated helmet-to-canopy breaker tool contact, that is.

  23. That's a lot of syllables for Army-speak...
  24. New BDUs, new space wings, new battlecry.... Man, we're all set, huh?
