  1. Sleepy, you are right about Stewart Ave. Don't go there unless you value getiing shot in the face and stabbed with a hypodermic needle. West Cobb is now run-down and largely populated by immigrants. I live in East Cobb, and it is perfect out here. It's quiet, safe, friendly, and close to anything you want.
  2. I live really close to Dobbins. With Kennesaw State just down the road, we have a shit ton of nice places to live around here. For the most part, you can find prices in whatever range you want. I personally recommend any of the apartments within a 5 mile radius of KSU. They all have really nice facilities and tons of scenery (if you know what I mean). [ 30. 3. How much do you make at OTS? I made about a grand for 6 weeks of FT at Maxwell, so I gess you would double that. Can you use this money to pay for uniforms? Also, what about people that already have uniforms, do they only have to buy rank? [ 25. September 2005, 14:42: Message edited by: c17wannabe ]
  4. Or a wet-willie. sts
  5. I just finished watching the documentary on UA Flight 93, and I have to say it strengthend my resolve to serve. I still can't believe the events that unfolded that day, but I know we are going to make those who hurt us suffer. Let's Roll!
  6. Good post Riddler, and I completely agree. As soon as you figure out that everything that goes on at FT is just a game, you're good to go. I thought FT sucked, but I still played the game and came home with a few awards. It has nothing to do with real leadership in my opinion, because a real leader doesn't get yelled at for being too blunt. I'm sorry but I'm not going to sugarcoat something if a member of my flight is screwing everything up. All that said, I think the CTAs and FTOs did a good job of finding the DG sharks, and dealing with them accordingly.
  7. Most people here already know how I feel about the 10 Commandments in Public Courthouses, but this is just lame as hell. When I was in high school, we always had group prayers and shit on teams and in clubs. Did it offend me...hell no. I think that faith is an integral part of the military and it gives people strength. If they want to pray, then they should be able to. You can pray any damn way you want. Would the result be the same if a group of Islamic or Jewish cadets prayed together and had other people here their prayers? I doubt it. If someone were in fact telling cadets they were pagan or going to hell or something, then they would need to get their ass kicked and leave the academy. I doubt that is the case though.
  8. He's actually kind of a gas pimp. His boom operator is his number 1 ho who sticks his boom into the customer's recepticle. I usually see him at the intersection of V118 and V230.
  9. Just watched it on TV. Now it's up to the President to confirm.
  10. 26 August at 2100 on the History Channel. Looks like it's going to be an awesome show, possibly even outstanding. [ 25. August 2005, 23:15: Message edited by: c17wannabe ]
  11. If I may share a story about Enid. If this sounds like home for you, then you're all set. A friend of mine in Enid used to get in the back of his friend's truck with watermelons, and release them on the interstate at 80 miles an hour while hanging out the back. After the release(sts), they would slam on the brakes ad watch the watermelon shrink and then explode. This was their typical Friday night. [ 24. August 2005, 21:58: Message edited by: c17wannabe ]
  12. You're going to Enid, Oklahoma right? Does it get anymore small town America than that?
  13. Why yes...yes I do. Anyways, Charleston is large enough to have plenty of employment oppurtunity. I have a few friends in college in Charleston, and all of them easily found well paying jobs. It may not be the office space non-sense your wife might be looking for, but it sounds like you'll be rollin from the TDY's so it shouldn't matter. Personally, I would say go for the C-17.
  14. A friend of mine down at P'Cola for strike nav training just got the BONE, in fact, he siad that his entire class got the BONE sts. I have no idea if this is common or not, but apparently they needed BONE Navs and not a single F-15E WSO. Maybe your class will be all F-15E's...needs of the Air Force.
  15. The end of that video was crazy.
  16. I'm no expert on the subject, but I can tell you that ROTC is MUCH easier to get a pilot slot through than OTS. Especially if you don't already have your PPL. If you did decide to go OTS, I would recommend using the Montgomery GI Bill to get your PPL. I know a few AD guys that have done their PPL for free at a Part 141 school. The other avenues would be trying to go Guard or Reserve, but it sounds like you want to remain on AD. I'm sure others will have more specific info for you, but that's a start.
  17. I don't have any hard facts, but yes it has happened. I've heard of a few pilots that went to Guard fighter units from heavies. I've also heard that there was or is a way to cross over AD under certain circumstances.
  18. Outstanding. Man I hate the word outstanding, but I'm too brainwashed to use anything else.
  19. I've got that nailed. (sts...maybe) If only you guys could see the talent walking around my campus. :D
  20. Sounds awesome. Not to derail this thread, but I was thinking it would be cool to have Baseops.net t-shirts. I know you're not big on donations, but it would be a great way for us to support baseops without just giving money. We could also upload pics of wearing the shirt in cool locations and post them in the gallery(back on topic). Just a thought.
  21. When I was 11 or 12, I was playing with my dad at a really nice course in Florida. I hit the green in 3 on a par 5, and proceeded to putt the ball into a sand trip, followed by chipping it into another ditch, and then back into the same trap. I was soo pissed that I threw my club, which proceeded to break upon hitting the cart and land in the tee box of an adjacent hole. Luckily the guys teeing off were not hit, and I never saw any of them in the clubhouse.
  22. How many T-38s do they have at Whiteman to keep the pilots current? Do Talons deploy with the B-2 for long deployments (ex Anderson AFB)? BTW-I already know where your troops are, I just want to count them.
  23. Why does the NEW French Navy have glass-bottomed boats? So they can see the OLD French Navy. Ok, here's the best French joke EVER! The Maginot Line :D
  24. I really like the page that you get when you click on "french militry defeats." "- Hundred Years War - Mostly lost, saved at last by female schizophrenic who inadvertently creates The First Rule of French Warfare; "France's armies are victorious only when not led by a Frenchman." Sainted." :D
  25. Here are a few reasons why international soccer is cool.
