In your case, you may only exercise private pilot privleges in single engine aircraft. Some people only have multi engine ratings, and they can't just go rent a 172 because they fly bigger shit. Similarly, I can't go take a twin into IMC just because I have an instrument rating.

Thanks guys, and congrats on winning nationals wnanna. I looked at the site which is where I found out about the initiation process. It's not very clear about that. I guess i'll just fill out the paperwork and get it going.

I am considering forming a Pershing Rifles company at my school, and I am curious as to what goes on during the 6 week initiation phase. If anyone has experience with this, please let me know. If anyone has any suggestions/comments on Pershing Rifles please post them as well.

Yeah, I'm a GT guy. I guess that kinda rules out you guys starting a GAMA cup. I would still recomend starting a joint-services field day though.

We hosted our first annual "GAMA Cup" this year at my Det. It was the brainchild of our Wing/CC, and it turned out very well. We had several Southeatsern schools come for a field day. We also have an annual AF vs. Navy field day(Army never shows). These are fun events, and a great way to start a legacy. For us, the winning school hosts the field day the next year, so you can say that you are going to work with other wing/cc's and possibly other services. This might look good to your Cadre. Just talked to a friend at Ga Jets, and he said Capt's need 3500TT and a type in the Beech. Right now they are hiring Captains internally because they have so many. Here is their web site in case you want more info Ga Jet . As far as bumming, a ton of commuters/regionals are hiring now, a lot of them only require ~1000TT and ~100-150 multi. [ 05. We have a company down here in ATL called Georgia Jets and they fly Beechjets and KA 200's. They will pay for your type after co-pilot duties, but you can jump right in easily with a type in hand. 6 of my old instructors flew the 200s and then upgraded to the Beech 400, but some dudes with types jump into the Beech left seat right at the start.

I've got a few friends that fly Beechjets and now Hawker 400's, and I don't think they needed a new type rating for the XP.

I don't really know anything about AF ribbons and medals, but I can't stand participation awards. It's like when you spend 4 hours on a maccaroni snowman in kindergarten(or high school for some of us) and the teacher says everyone's a winner. F*ck that, my snowman is twice as good as that retard next to me . Anywho, awards should be given, but only when you do something that sets you apart from the average person. Not when you do something with everyone else because it's your job, and you're required to do it. Just MHO.

Prices down here in Atlanta suck as well. Our 172's go for $85 and instructors for $40. We have a bunch of SP's that go for $115. Basically, nothing is cheap. Thats what I did. I was an intern in high school, so I got free time for plane washing(you've got to dry it somehow). I also got probably 150 free flights from people who fly out of the airport since I was always hanging around. I still fly with some of these people for free time. After that ended I upgraded to washing and detailing Gulfstreams for $12/hr. + free flights. :D I paid for my instrument rating myself, so now I'm broke again. [ 24. Dude, PARK LEGALLY! I had a ticket when I entered AFROTC. Then I got a speeding and parking ticket in the same week during my first semester. I just got another speeding ticket a week ago. My counseling went something like this. Col: "Cadet Stewart, four tickets is unacceptable for a future Air Force officer. If you get one more seeding ticket you are out of the program." Basically, with all the cutbacks, they are looking for any excuse to drop cadets. I don't think you are in a bad situation yet, but any more could be bad news. I spend $15-$20 a week on parking, I know it sucks, but our futures are not worth risking because of parking.

Hey, some of us just can't gain weight period. I'm 6'2" and 155. I tried the 5 days a week gym thing, but lost weight. I also tried the 4000+ calories a day, and lost weight.
