I agree with LJDRVR. Citabria/Decathlons are fun, but mainly used for training. I would go for an RV-4 if I were you. A retired eagle driver has an RV-4 in the hangar next to ours, and he has it decked out in a tiger shark scheme. IMHO, nothing looks better than a well painted RV. He goes out for aerobatics and formation flying all the time. There are tons of RV clubs around the country tht have fly-ins and formation flying events. You can have speed, efficiency, and a hell of a lot of fun in an RV!

I just took a health and personal fitness class and we discussed this issue. The teacher said that many people get headaches after working out because they aren't breathing correctly. A lot of people will hold their breath while exercising without noticing it, and that will cause really painful headaches. Next time you work out, try focusing on your breathing. If that doesn't work, maybe one of the docs can help you.

While your at it, rent "Iron Eagle", it's probably the best and most realistic movie ever made about the Air Force. It chronicles the heroic doings of a youngster like yourself, and really gives insight on the inner workings and strategic mission of the Air Force. Don't bother renting "12 O'Clock High," it really doesn't have a plot or any valuable information. :D

or Terminal Aerodrome Forecast. It's obviously been a while since your intsrument training Airguardian. METAR isn't an acronym to my knowledge. It's just an aviation routine weather report. How often do tanker guys do transport missons? Do tankers ever carry cargo while they're on refueling trips, or are the missions kept separate?

goirishgo, I realize that your education is important, but the specifics of your studies don't really seem to matter. Almost every Air Force officer i have met in the civilian world is doing a job other than their college major. Most of them relying on skills they acquired in the AF. My general point is that, you aren't going to be SOL if you don't get that AE degree, the AF is gonna make sure you can do your job, and do it well. And when you get out, you'll find that your service will weigh just as much as your degree, especially in management positions.

I'm not a pilot(yet), AE major, or even graduate of college yet, but I would like to share my feelings on your situation. First off, if you are in desperate need of a scholarship, stick with a tehnical degree. Your chances are definitley better. If this is not the case, ask yoursef if you are willing to sacrifice the next four years of your life to get that coveted AE degree. Back to the scholarship thing, I know people that have bombed their first year of engineering, went on probation for it, and shot their chances for pilot in the ass. If all you want to do is fly, then go Management. I love the ease of my courses. I have free time to be active in the Det. And I have maintained a 3.5 with virtually no work. I believe wholeheartedly that college is just a formality, the Air Force will teach me everything they want me to know. Good luck with your decision, but remember that you really only get one shot at this game of life, don't regret anything you do, just try to keep moving forward and not looking back.

First and foremost. STS= So to speak: Used when statements may be mis-interpreted, or interpreted correctly and just trying to stay PC(Politically Correct). Ex. Cross pens are muy bueno. I have had a few since I was around ten, and I am still using them. You just have to get the little ink cartridges every once and a while.

I just ran the numbers you gave with a C-172 with 160hp. You were just inside the envelope with 25 gallons of fuel and no aft baggage. With such low PA and temp, you should be fine. But, I wouldn't feel right unless I sad you still need to run it yourself. There it is, it is definitey possible. [ 11. December 2004, 17:29: Message edited by: c17wannabe ]

Basically, the answer is yes. It is possible. But as PIC you must determine whether or not it is possible for you with your given aircraft, pax, etc. Wxpunk is right, you have to use the specific POH and make a decision based on your WandB. I know six people that have died in the last six months from assuming that they should be fine. Don't just assume you will be fine.

I've taken four dudes in a 172 with full fuel flying in the summer. 180 horsepower N models will carry anything you throw in them.

I like this one. Being from Georgia and all. Farmer's Jody (very fast) I got a pig, he's so clean, he sleep in my washin machine I just whittle out in my barn, while the cadre run my farm. I got a girl, she's 13, what does statutory mean? I just whittle... I got land, call it a ranch, my family tree has just one brach, I just whittle... I know a girl ,lives on a hill, she won't do it but her sister will, I just whittle... BTW-you can find every jodie ever written here.

Jepps suck to get used to (if you use NOS), but they rock once your used to them. IMO.Definitely not worth the extra money if it's out of pocket though. If you just want to get familiar with them, find somone with expired plates and take them.
