  1. Dave is a good friend of mine and I can tell you his intentions are genuine and he cares only about the future of the AF and RPAs as a community. Also, I'm pretty sure he's "over it", since he picked up 1/2 PhD slots last year in the AF.
  2. Good thing ACC still has the MC-12 demo team!
  3. You mean the one written by Beechcraft? Pretty sure they don't have a Dash 1, but I'm not a doctor.
  4. Howard Pardue Crash Update: Low-Level Acro on Departure The crash of an F8F Bearcat at Breckinridge, Texas, last week that claimed the life of well known air racer and airshow performer Howard Pardue came during an abortive aerobatic maneuver. According the NTSB’s preliminary report on the crash, Pardue was executing a low-level manuever that somehow went terribly wrong. A witness, a pilot who was waiting to take off behind Pardue, described the chain of events to investigators. Pardue “reportedly announced over the radio that he was going to perform a Half Cuban Eight aerobatic maneuver after takeoff and then overfly the runway in the opposite direction,” according to the NTSB report. At first the maneuver seemed to go according to plan. “After liftoff the accident airplane climbed 100 to 200 feet in a shallow climb before it pitched-up into a near vertical climb. The airplane continued the climb in an inside loop before leveling out, inverted, about 500 feet above the runway heading the opposite direction of the takeoff,” the investigator reported. Then things began to go terribly wrong. Again, according the NTSB, the witness then saw “the airplane's wings roll suddenly before the airplane entered a near vertical descent. The witness described the final portion of the aerobatic maneuver as a split-S maneuver, or a descending half loop, from which the airplane was unable to recover before colliding with terrain on a southeasterly heading. The witness stated that there was an explosion when the airplane collided with terrain and that a post impact fire ensued.” The NTSB did not reach any conclusions about probable cause in its preliminary report. Such statements usually aren’t issued until months after the mishap when the Board releases its final report. https://www.flyingmag.com/technique/accidents/howard-pardue-crash-update-low-level-acro-departure
  5. Can't go wrong with a Stearman.
  6. Well said Huggy. Haven't flown the 38 but my dad taught 38's at PIT and still talks about how fun it was to fly. It must be truly amazing if the mighty J-3 comes up in the conversation!
  7. CH, it's too bad you didn't go Robin Olds on that FAC and square them away. That story in the book when Finance tried to close with 20 ppl in line and Robin ensured all the airmen got paid first was epic. Not saying black socks dude was right but this stuff is maddening.
  8. One of her goals is "read the Bible in it entity". What a reetard.

  10. How do I donate if I don't live in FL where FNBT branches are located? I didn't have any luck finding a link on the FNBT.com website. Are the River Rats setting up a fund for this?
  11. Rest in peace brothers. (null)
  12. Thats some good airplane porn!
  13. DO NOT click the "Download Hi-Res" button underneath her picture. Self critiquing....
  14. Are you implying that airmen are so distraught with AF policy that they take their own lives? The leading cause of suicide is untreated depression. I seriously doubt someone is hanging themselves because they got chiefed at 3am on their way to the cadillac. I'm shocked at how many people let the queep consume them and ruin their outlook on a career in the AF. We get paid to fly jets for a living, just let it roll of your back and press. With that said, leadership by powerpoint was not the best way to handle resiliency day. A round table discussion between key leaders and the wing commander on direct involvement of leadership and getting to know your people would've been much more effective.
  15. Great point Dan. I think my Dad had his funding fee waived due to partial hearing loss from flying jets. Only VA loan I would do is the 5% down option. 10k down (on 200K home) but saves $1500 on the funding fee (4500 vs 3000). However, it's still $3000 that doesn't give you any equity, despite the appeal of having the fee rolled into the loan.
  16. Are the VA funding fees still 2.25% for zero down or 1.5% for 5% down? Dropping 4500 bucks to get a loan on a 200k house isn't that great of a deal. 15 year conventional fixed with 20% down is so much cheaper in the long run.
  17. Me too. How do you play the balancing act of handling it at the lowest level but also ensuring that the OG isn't blind sided when he hears the story from mx? (null)
  18. Camp Vance still doing pizza night at the fire pit? The Afghani naan bread made for a really good crust. Fwiw, BAF is way better than the Died. I never wore a disco belt and nobody said anything when I went off compound without a gun. I started arming up the second half of my deployment but it wasn't bc of a sternly worded email from a chief. The boss lead by example, never mentioning it, and before you knew it most of the unit was wearing their M9 on the way to chow.
  19. Well said nsplayr. BL - It comes down to professionalism. The ground party is counting on MC12s to deliver FMV. Horsing around in the AOR while transiting killboxes brings nothing to the fight. Nothing. If you want to go upside down, do it in an RV 4 on your own time.
  20. Think there's something about the us flag being x amount of inches from the seam. Let us know how this turns out! The heritage patch removal is sad to hear. Lots of great Friday patches at HRT. The 14th WPS "puff the magic dragon" one is pretty awesome.
  21. I remember getting a Jane Fonda urinal target from ret gen spruce (sp)...he REALLY enjoyed handing those out to everyone.
  22. War is hell.
