  1. There was a doc that would come to Eglin once a quarter and give up to class 2's for free. Actually he asked for a patch and I gave him several and an RMO. He wasn't in the military he just did it to help out or screw other docs. I haven't tried to get an appointment with him in 1 1/2 years since I thought I needed a class 1 for an airline job that doesn't exist.
  2. O.K. If you can't take trash talking on an internet forum? Now for big 10 and any other inferior conference fans that are at MXF or the south east, please go see an Auburn, Alabama or what ever, game. If I was stationed near any other big NCAA football program I wouldn't pass it up, but I'm in the south and have season tickets to BAMA. For Michigan fans, thank goodness we didn't get your coach 3 years ago, and for THE Ohio State, I know it's tough loosing to the SEC, because that's usually who we lose to. I was able to watch the Iron bowl and Sugar bowl last year deployed.
  3. Yet my off the line corporate turboprop that I fly for the USAF with the same Garmin my dad has in his '67 V-35 can? Honestly, it might be more than just a piece of paper. If your FMS or equivalent allows you to manipulate the database entries then you can't get the cert. This was at least the problem with the legacy Herc.
  4. There is a new administration in town. Maybe you should point out all the flaws you see in the AF then ask Schwartz if you can also fly the Talon I (don't ask if your Schwartz is bigger b/c it could result in blues all the time) he’s on the global!
  5. I just bought 3 new V-neck shirts for this BS. I have to go to some formation on Mon and it was originally going to be in bag till someone remembered it was on a Monday. Anyone know if you can still wear the V-neck with the flight suit? We used to do it in UPT for funnies and I think I want to bring it back. Maybe this is part of the economy rebuilding plan since all the dry cleaners get some business back.
  6. Suck it up for a year and get fat. There would be days that I needed to burn off steam and would run for 20-30 min when released, but that never made up for the hot pockets or Julio's. Graduation was hard for everyone to fit into their blues, just like last Monday. I lost 20# in 3 months at the Rock.
  7. MOA's yes. However, most of the land under them is not owned by the DOD. Most of Eglin's MOA's are not either, but check out the restricted range areas R-2915 looks bigger than R-5104 and R-5105 combined . Then add in R-2914 and the water ranges for Eglin (HRT is actually an old Eglin aux field). Land owned=live fire, well at least easier than not. The MOA's are used for BFM and flying at altitude. AFSOC needs airspace to do LL/airdrop or live fire. Edit: FWIW KIKR was a good time with plenty to do and good places to live.
  8. Coasties out of Mobile spotted and picked them up (from a coastie FE friend).
  9. #1 - The first rule of Fight Club is, you do not talk about Fight Club. #2 - The second rule of Fight Club is, you DO NOT talk about Fight Club. #3 - If someone says stop, goes limp, taps out, the fight is over. #4-8 - FOUO #9 - PC-12 will kick your azz
  10. Pittsburg and Maxwell have a couple planes with state specific nose art. How about the Greek. Hellinic AF
  11. I was surfing off Pompano Joe's in Destin today and at around 1400L the #7 Blue Angel did and nice slow pass at around 500'. Was really cool and random.
  12. Happened to me on my Co check in the WX. Made the decent at 2000' min and got my offset alright only to loose sight. The IP told me to continue and I was able to make the turn to final based on known visual ques (the river). Finally saw the 22L still at mda and almost over the approach end. The eng asked the IP if he was going to let me attempt the landing out of it. We didn't, but I got credit for the circle.
  13. Been there done that and got the T-shirt (they are sold at the FBO) in a T-37, T-1 and C-130 (had to have the gear and flaps out). The Co-pilot killer at KLIT sucks.https://204.108.4.16/d-tpp/0712/00233VA.PDFATC will always make you circle southwest that gives you 3.2 miles to lose 1000' not including your offset and getting back on course after station passage.
  14. It's called permissive TDY. Used at the Rock and other FTU's. Don't know if applies at UPT since it's a PCS and you don't get per diem while on permissive TDY. There's a reg out there somewhere on it.
  15. KC is close to what? Friend of mind PCS'ed to Whiteman in Sep and will not go to B-2 school till DEC 2009.
  16. I'm a bit short on their PIC turbine time (800 vs 1000), but am thinking about applying anyway. Too bad "Transoceanic crossing experience requirement has been eliminated” I was hoping that would be my edge against all the regional captains. What are applicants saying is jacked?
  17. 84H0 84H0 description There's a 2 star AFRC general that has this job as his civilian gig. He is rated, but not a requirement.
  18. Kinda. However, before these guys typically deploy they will get fully spun up (current and proficient). Again, most have extensive prior experience to draw on and it will come back very quick. Also, you'd be surprised how much other experience you can pick up flying civilian around the world or CONUS as opposed to just flying around the flag pole.
  19. I appreciate the squadron patch, or something squadron related. I think it show's that at least they put some effort into different units. Even though we hired someone that had our squadron patch on er app, but kept the "Black Birds" in er cover letter (wrong squadron). Er latter quit UPT just before solo, because Er got engaged.
  20. If you got a free night in Louisville check out the Maker's Mark bar on 4th street. Excellent selection and people.
  21. Makers is always a good choice. SoCo is a good choice as well as anything that is not from Tennessee.
  22. Don't forget about healthcare. I don't see much now, but hope to in 30 years, maybe less. Also, this is about the only pension left in the US that is really guaranteed, just ask everyone that is employed by a company that is in chapter 11.
  23. Sorry, I was too vague. It's the same as applying for the guard in that you can walk in off the street, be prior AD, whatever. One difference is the recruiters don't just work for that state. Fill out this or call 1-800-257-1212 to talk to a reserve recruiter.
  24. Yes, you stay at one base. Depends on what you sign up for and it's the same for both. I believe pilots still get 10 years. There's not much difference in call up rates. Pay is the same for both see this for a pay explanation. Unless your unit switches aircraft or you switch units you’ll stay on the same aircraft. The only real difference between the guard and the reserves is the state has some control of the guard units.
  25. What do you want to do? Where do you want to live? What are you goals? Where do you see you’re self in 1/3/5 years? Most interesting, what is your poll asking WvW?
