Information on PCS/moves/moving (DITY, TMO, DLA, storage)
WHAP replied to SUX's topic in General Discussion
https://www.dod.mil/dfas/money/milpay/, somewhere in this website is probably what you are looking for. -
My flight commander was a C-17 guy from charleston, he says he wasnt gone all the time.
-
use commmon sense if nothing else, the old heads on this program can probably provide better specific guidance, but, when in doubt, dont wear the uniform.

PHX-3 million people, oh yeah, you can get sub jobs there, i dont know any LTs that lived on base there, but i know the sorrounding area is full of houses and apartments for rent that are in line with BAH. Ive got a buddy who got married over thanksgiving, he and his wife are there now for his casual status. if you want i can try and get an email address for you so you can talk to them directly, they would know a lot more than me as I am now in sunny laughlin.

DG from ROTC will help later on, its one more bullet for the major board, but if thats all you did, then like the man said, you got issues. As far as the near future, being DG doesnt help you do anything in the UPT world, nobody asks and nobody cares. At least, im my experience.

I went on to tones and they let me keep everything but the harness. My buddy that went 38s, they just gave him a combat edge mask instead of the green POS he used in texans.

Ive heard it also alleviates (spelling?) the boredom on the long drags to stay in formation and refuel, rather than wait until Bingo. IFF guy at Moody told me that one.
-
2nd on what turtle said. Enjoy what you can about UPT, it will be some of the best and worst times of your life, and I say that only having gone through half of it.
-
I have heard of a guy who got a DUI while in the service somewhere, ROTC maybe, and ended up getting to UPT a few years later. Other than that, speeding tickets are okay.

Yeah, i worked and got mine, but it involves saving a lot of money and a good job. The scholarship thing is awesome, i know quite a few guys who applied for some seriously random scholarships, they were only 500 or so bucks a piece, but when you apply enough, you get the money. The credit card paid for most of mine at the time i got it, but i did it in two months of flying everyday in the summer, then paid the old platinum off.
-
check the dealerships too, i got mine financed with chrysler at 2.9 fixed, so you can find deals like that sometimes

T-6 we need 4000X75. We went Dobbins-charleston with gas stops at Savannah, Ashville, Warner Robins. Our X-c country is typically 6 flights leaving on friday RTB sunday. Dudes from Moody go to charleston, Key west, new orleans, D.C area, and many places in Fla.
-
Just to add the other side, if AAS isnt for you (it wasnt for me) you can still do well in ROTC. But, if you think its your thing, then ive never heard of it hurting anybody.

your "army rotc homie" enough said.

We had a dude take a formation the wrong way up initial at Moody, made a few guys break out. Some other dudes have tried to gear up land. Had a dude in formation get to the area with his flaps hanging at 200 knots, max is 150 for the 6. Had another dude almost declare an IFE because he had the throttle back at idle and his engine showed 5% torque. He was solo and another IP told him on victor "welcome to idle".

Towns not bad, right on the coast, nice beaches, base looked pretty shitty to me when I was there a couple of years ago.

Hey all, current UPT stud here. Im trying to figure out what to put on my sheet for track select (febuary). I was looking for info on C-130s in AFSOC straight out of UPT. I did a search on this forum and it seems like most others (work hard to get lucky). Is it this for the most part? How is Corpus training? Odds of getting spec ops 130s? Any advice always appreciated.
-
Moody is tight, PCSing aint a big deal though it does roll you back one to two classes. As far as the wives, well, Opie, you know im not married, but some of the guys in the last class that tracked requested the same base and most got it, so its not like you leave and dont know anybody with the exception of Corpus or Rucker maybe. Oh, and hacker, i wasnt there but i was depressed to hear that nobody yelled "choke yourself" at the last track select.

Just a thought, and more power to you for making plans, but UPT aint the time to be making radical changes in your life. On the flip side of Kellys post, Ill say this cuz your husband can yell at me tmw if he wants too-hes right next door nowadays, there is a dude in my class whose wife is at home in Indianna. He spends a lot of time on the phone and she comes down alot, but it works out. I know I probably sound like I am saying dont do it, but be careful, i know I couldnt handle radical changes in life right now without hurting my performance, and you go to UPT for pilot training. when people find out you have other things on your mind, they get mad.

Pay for it, think about it this way... The career for the rest of your life vs a few hundred bucks on a credit card for some cavities.

You need the gouge, but study things like the checklists for groundops, takeoff, in flight checks, landing. know the local area procedures and the departures to the MOAs, know radio calls, know the local challenge and response verbiage that applies to the above checklists. I dont know what day 1-5 flashcards are, so i cant help you there. But the above stuff is what i wish i had studied prior to hitting the flightline. oh yeah, read the dash one 2-3 times.
-
You can stay there, but most people dont. I only did MFS there, but the ROTC kids there at the time got done early, hell, we got done early as well. You shouldnt worry about having problems there, but anything can happen, so plan accordingly. That date would cut it close.

Det 028 huh, I dont know about the freefall thing, but I commissioned out of that lovely hippie school up the road, good ole 027.

find a flight instructor, get some hours, you can normally solo after ten or so. But for the purposes of PCSM scores, dual time recieved counts. Nice scores by the way.
