They are not dumb departure/recovery procedures. All are there for a reason. Show me a “dumb one” and I will educate your simple mind. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Rumor is they were bashing the 19 AF CC and tagged him in a post. I have zero direct knowledge of what actually happened though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Anyone done any math on the Survivor Benefit Plan? My wife is retiring and we are trying to decide whether or not to take it. Eventually I will retire as well if that plays as a factor. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Anyone know why the boom would be down? Figured it would be up for a performance, but I’m not a tanker guy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

They are pretty good. I do see a potential to offload some of the advanced aircraft training into the T-6 especially if we have an avionics suite similar to the B model which is why the UPT next guys were using Navy birds because it allowed them to do some air to air intercepts and other functions for their “IFF” which were not capable of being done in the A model. The Navy is taking their birds back so we will be losing that ability here soon. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

We’ve been flying under a waiver but I guess AFFSA and the FAA didn’t like the waiver this go round. We can use it for en-route nav but not terminal area nav. Sounds like we are getting a stay of execution here soon and will be back to utilizing. Also, talks of an AMP to the A models is in works, the question is what do we want the future to look like? What I meant “from home station” —- your home unit will get you scheduled and out the door for the required training. It’s not lumped into the UCT syllabi. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

For a nav you will be about 185 days. The actual training length is slightly less but you have about a week on either end to in/out-process. Chamber will be coordinated by your home station before you come. Expect C-Springs for the chamber, the Navy decommissioned theirs a few years ago. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

UCT isn’t a year. Depending on the airframe it can be 185 days or 285 days. Same goes for the FTU. You will have to go to the chamber and water survival before heading to UCT which is something like 4 days each (don’t know exactly). For Guard you will do that from home station. Commanders are dropping like flies this year

If I take the bonus this year ($15k) and it jumps next year can I renegotiate or am I stuck with the current amount? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I guess my real issue is the fact we’ve been using it for years. I can’t say I’ve ever heard an aircrew getting violated or any course deviation issues (other than the occasional RAIM fail). Now all of a sudden it’s not safe or acceptable? I know that there are some additional steps we have to take like manually checking and setting it up, but it’s really like five step. Not the 2 page checklist we had in the C17. I don’t agree with the change, if anything I trust it more than I trust flying a VOR approach in the Texan. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Can’t even use GPS for lateral navigation outside the FAF in the T-6 now. Let alone down to LPV minimums. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Great idea. I think every base has a lake nearby. Easy way to decompress from the stress. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Well I’m going for it as long as we can work out my wife’s situation. She’s at 20 and is going through an MEB. It was supposed to be done next month but they messed up some of her tests so it’s delayed a couple months. Currently working through leadership on both sides to see what we can do to either PCS her or speed up her process. Problem number one is her paperwork is with the MEB and we all know how quickly they work. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yes they do. Below is Germany’s numbers. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I will self proclaim I’m not too savvy on the economics side of the country. So what solutions does Japan have? How is military retirement adjusted for inflation? Are we going to ever get to a point where the military retirement pay isn’t worth the personal investment? Just thinking here.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So I’ve been debating with a buddy about this theory.... I am weary as to whether the US government will be able to pay the military retirement in the next 30-40 years. My concerns are led by the fact our debt is growing drastically and we continue to pass bills which we can’t pay. Numbers Govt tax revenue / spending 2021-3.86T / 4.83T (not counting the two multiple trillion dollar bills) 2020-3.71T / 6.16T 2019-3.46T / 4.448T 2018-3.33T / 4.09T We keep printing money and spending out of control. At what point do we start cutting spending in some way or form and what takes the hit? He thinks I’m overly paranoid about not having a future income or it being worthless. I know this is an simple layout of where we are but I think my general point is we can survive this way. Thoughts? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

To my understanding the rudder was changed years ago because it had too much authority and caused a tail to fall off at some point. At least that’s what I remember my CC saying on Friday, I was a few beers in though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Before you show up to PCola please review the welcome guide and make sure to contact the STUCON as indicated on page 3. https://www.12ftw.af.mil/Portals/65/documents/479%20STUS%20Welcome%20Guide%20CAO%209%20Nov%2020.pdf Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Usually the guard/reserve usually have pre-coordinated training dates based on hire date/commissioning date. I haven’t personally heard of anything about the helo only track. I would recommend doing the T-6s. Airmanship in any aircraft makes you a better crew member. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Agreed if you get beyond some of the issues with the writing he makes some really valid points. Don’t expected rainbows and mimosas everyday. Things aren’t always going to work out exactly as you expect. Your “forever home” may not actually be what you think. Make sure you are ready financially and mentally before you depart. He did pick a terrible time to get out and that sucks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Air Force Looking Into Pilot Training Changes To Curb Accidents
Bode replied to SPAWNmaster's topic in General Discussion
Two things 1- classic it’s not fair he few a GPS approach and got one more graded item type issue 2- if students aren’t required to do it in the aircraft because you can’t require it with the WX issue then students won’t plan it. I’m shocked we made it this long doing it the we did. I came from the 17 where we had a 2 page checklist to do a GPS approach. Get here and it’s like we can’t really verify the distances so we just wing it. Oh and we don’t know if RAIM is actually going to work or not. Just hope for the best at .3 to the FAF. Oh and to fly a departure you need to load an approach to that airport so you get the accuracy you need. Same for a STAR. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
