  1. ...But I liked going to CST and wearing ABUs with multicam IOTVs and ACU helmet covers and ammo pouches. Really though, the ACU pissed me off the most because the Army had a legitimate need for a tactical uniform. What does the ACU camouflage you against? Gravel pits? Sheet rock? The walls of a cubicle? The multicams were really effective; you'd literally lose site of overwatch teams even when you knew exactly where they were. I think the reason they took so long to catch on is because they look a lot like a dirtier, just-rolled-in-the-mud version of the BDU without the black and the Army didn't want to reinvent the wheel when what they really needed was a wheel.
  2. If your FOB, base, camp, whatever doesn't have at least a 3 TB morale drive, then you're doing it wrong... So a good external hard drive from Amazon should pay for itself pretty quickly. That is, if you don't mind running the risk of some smart ass renaming a porno file after some Disney movie for you and your unsuspecting family to discover when you get home, so I'd definitely recommend 'test-driving' the movies before public viewing.
  3. First post, I've been lurking on here as a non-member for a while. I got referred to Emerald Coast Interview Consultants by the ANG in Fresno and they really helped me out (just google it). The guy who runs it was an F15 pilot and now he works on the hiring board for FEDEX, so he understands the Guard interview process. I ended up getting hired on the next board that interviewed me, so I'd say it's worth the money, especially considering how much it costs to do a Guard interview (flight, hotel, etc). They won't give you stories or spoon-feed you 'the right answer,' but they will help you figure out what stories put your best qualities forward. Really, in the interview they have 45 minutes to get to know you and all your qualifications, so that time is like gold; you can't waste time with BS answers. They do all the consulting over the phone, they have audio files, they send you some interview worksheets, and they have conferences all over the US every few weeks. Anyway, this forum helped me hunt down Guard units, so I thought I owed it to the community to come back and give some advice that worked for me.
