F-15E crashes in Mideast, crew ejects safely
Steve Davies replied to Toro's topic in General Discussion
The designed fatigue life for the F-15E is 16,000 hours. -

That's all you heard? I heard a lot more. -
Thirty Years Ago Today...The Falklands War Started
Steve Davies replied to M2's topic in General Discussion
Not a lot different from today, then. Clinton likes to call the islands "the Malvinas" when speaking on behalf of your nation, so there's no doubting where the current Administration's loyalties lie. I think most of us are a) too bemused by Argentina's recent round of sabre rattling and political/economic attacks on the United Kingdom, and b) too stunned at the idiotic rants of pop stars and Hollywood actors, to revel in past victories. -
Is there a legal limit as to how much ammunition you can buy at somewhere like Wal Mart?

Don't know what insurance companies are like in the US, but in the UK they are generally a bunch of rip-off artists - they take your money and then use the small print of their T&Cs to wriggle out of settling claims. So, if they've got a poorly worded contract and she's reasonably likely to lose more than $200k in lost earnings, then I wish her the best of luck in making them pay whatever a court deems appropriate. More to the point, I'd be interested in knowing exactly how this happened. I don't know about fixed-wing in the US, but I fly rotary-wing in the UK and as a general rule we don't let passengers get out and walk around at night when the rotors are spinning.

Ever shopped for booze anywhere other than a 7/11 (or whatever)?

If you believe you can break a piece of wood over your head, then you can (maybe) break a piece of wood over your head.
-
That's funny.

Well, thanks for doing it, WheelzUp. I don't think that even our own Air Force would have pulled out all the stops in the way that you guys did. Kudos to you and the U-2 community.

The U-2 guys at Fairford do it again. A great bit of publicity and relationship building by the Air Force. Bravo! Her knowledge of the cockpit layout is damned impressive!

Nice find, Treeholer.

Anyone got a link to the report that AirForceTimes quotes? Can't see it on af.mil, and a keyword search there turns up nothing of interest.

Oh, the irony. Considering that the makers of the video are taking the piss out of someone else for being dense, you'd have thought that they would know how to use an apostrophe for possessives, and that there's no such verb as "registrate".

Yet another Poser...this time pretending to be a Two Star

I wonder whether anyone ever impersonates being a member of TIB? -
I love the M2 clip at the end! I don't know if you can get this outside the UK, but this story is a bit strange: Emails from dead man's account spook loved ones

Navy LT sends a .PPT to her new 3-star commander...hilarious and sad
Steve Davies replied to Ram's topic in Squadron Bar
I did. Was particularly surprised that it is apparently acceptable practise for a news gathering website to be one of your main sources of information for an austere, academic study. -

Pretty sure that that's the route M2 took.

1st female Air Force combat vet in run for congress
Steve Davies replied to F-15E WSO's topic in Squadron Bar
Maybe. Maybe not. There are people who stand out in history for the right reasons - some milk their fame, others don't (and in Rossi's case, she didn't live long enough to have a choice). I only knew about her because this guy talked about her. He talked not about her gender, but about the fact that she had brass balls. She stands out for the right reasons. True. -

I noticed that when fuckwad Fox man says "It's an honour to have the first American woman to fly in combat", she didn't correct him. Pretty sure that honour actually lay with someone else. Maybe Major Marie Rossi? -
Dreamliner jet “draws” Boeing logo across North America

Have to admire the honesty. CH, you should be shot for that one. Absolutely terrible! -
