  1. Anyone have any info about the C-5 squadron in San Antonio? Looking for hiring info for a rated-type guy who is not qualed on FRED.
  2. It's not like they are actually actuating the controls. They're sitting on top of a big bomb that is completely automated. I think all astronauts should be equiped with a "Foam Dome" hat and a couple of tall boys for the trip to "space". Giddyup!
  3. Figure out where you want to stay, I spent some time at the best western before getting an apartment and after the apartment. It was just fine, ditto the daily beers and breakfast. I think there is a brand new microtel or something like that and people liked that. Don't reserve anything on base (I reserved a room at the ramada), just show up. I gave some story about having a reservation at the best western and it was too late to change it, blah blah blah. Next thing I knew I had a non-A slip for the best western in hand. Here's the real BS about the non-a. If you are active duty and you don't want to stay at the hotel listed on the non-a, then you have to stay at or under $27/day plus $39 off base per diem. My reserve finance folks said "a non-a is a non-a no matter where you stay" (wow, that rhymes ), so you are allowed the entire amount on the non-a ($60/day at the best western). I stayed under $27/day in an apartment with rented furniture (i.e. big screen HDTV) with a roommate (active duty), but was allowed by my squadron the $60/day. I also had a washer/dryer (rented) and big blue paid for that despite the AD folks saying it wasn't covered. In short, I could've had much more and nicer shtuff, but toughed it out with what $27/day bought.
  4. What is that? I was in Pensacola with a bunch of navs who would try to find stuff with their portable GPS's, is this the same thing? They would get the coordinates from the internet. Seemed pretty gay. And for thread continuity: I have a garmin streetpilot that I got at circuit city for $150. Works great.
  5. How it was described to me.... When you hear about a coon ass, think of the character "Farmer Fran" in the movie "The Waterboy".
  6. UMR is awesome as long as you're into a big sausage-fest. MU has sports, a healthy social scene, and the academics aren't half bad. That's what kind of well-rounded experience you get with a large university. Go become well-rounded, it will open many more doors than a specialized degree from an obscure aviation or engineering school. Just some food for thought....
  7. On my FC1 I had BP readings of mid-140's/high-80's. That totally sucketh. Had to do the 5-day blood pressure thing. 120's over 70's was the result, my doctor kept asking why I was there. For me, it was the stress of the FC1. Just try to relax.
  8. That's wrong on so many levels. Proving once again, that you have to be a dorkus maximus to fly fighters. [ 17. December 2004, 09:37: Message edited by: shiznitobam_allstars ]
  9. These new smilies kick arse.
  10. Business Casual. Khakis and collared shirt, no t-shirts, no sneakers. Essentially, look like you give-a-poo.
