  1. As met records now in PRDA
  2. Anyone knows what happens, if anything, to eligibles when the SR on their PRF is relieved of command a handful of days prior to the board? Asking for a friend...
  3. About when did the "mandatory" master's req make it's way into the O-4 selection process?
  4. The Sec 3 in the BUFF should be titled "More Normal Procedures".
  5. Love the Buff.. even though 0059 is cursed and we needed to have the chaplain out at PGUA do an exorcism on it last year...
  6. You'll likely fly 4-5 times a month, anywhere from 5-12 hour sorties depending on what's happening that week/month, with the possibility of some long endurance sorties here and there. You'll also get to participate in several NSE's, NSI's, NORE's, NORI's, plus all the same things that start with a C instead. Deployments to PGUA are now moving to 6 month rotations and as a co-rocket you'll fly your butt off and rack up a large amount of hours, plus drop a lot of iron. Deployments are predictable and it's pretty good on the family life if that is any concern. As far as recommending the BUFF, I would say it's better than a lot of assignments, but there are some other aircraft I wouldn't mind going to as well. If you want any more specifics just PM me.
  7. Pile on to this... I'm in the same boat right now. Living in the south has created some medical issues for two of my kids, who are now on EFMP. If you want to get something done in a "respectable" time-frame you will more than likely need to beat down the EFMP coordinator's door on a daily basis until you get what you need. Also, don't rely on them to do what needs to be done to ensure that your gaining base actually has the facilities locally you need for your dependent's conditions. Call their EFMP coordinator yourself and make sure!! I have heard of several instances where a family PCS'd only to find out that their new base didn't have the facilities that they were told by the EFMP coord at the departing base. Do your homework, ask A LOT of questions, and don't get discouraged because the process is definitely a PITA.
  8. Holy thread revival Batman
  9. I guess she should have went to rehab..
  10. I knew him from IFS too, as well as land and water survival. Great personality and stand up guy. He will most certainly be missed
  11. Man those Ruskies wipe the floor with TsIB!! "LLEEDDDIIIBBEEEE!!!"
  12. How can you NOT listen to Rush for hours on end? I sure can!
  13. Ya tell me about it.. I noticed the gigantic banner draped across the fence on the main road by the flightline over by the 93rd. Kind of ironic that there was an old Buff on the other side of the fence with the ass end opened up getting a MX enema. It's just another reminder where the priorities of the AF are right now.. shameful If I can get a band together by the 15th I'll gladly go over to the O'club and play some Social D covers to show them up
  14. Pens up 2-0 at the 2nd intermission, but they are starting to look a little rattled after losing Crosby... maybe they can hold on!
  15. Beer: Black Butte Porter, Raging Rhino Red (Steelhead Brewery in Oregon), Newcastle, Guiness, Kronenbourg, Anchor Steam and a few others. If you happen to be up in Spokane for some reason the Steamplant has some good beers, especially their Huckleberry Beer (and I don't usually like fruit in beer!) I'm making a dry rub tonight (STS) on some baby backs. I use paprika, chili powder, brown sugar, onion salt, and a little bit of black pepper. Sometimes I'll throw in a little garlic for a little bit different taste. And if we are in the mood for something really sweet I'll glaze the top of the rack with honey (the ribs.. or whatever else may be appropriate.....) The key is mixing it all in the proper proportions.
  16. Hmm... this could replace HeliTac as my favorite mag.. sign me up!!
  17. No rationalizatioins... I'm an alum, and I'm one of the few that wishes they'd spent their money at a real University and learned to fly in my spare time. Oh well, lesson learned.
  18. As if the monthly phone calls from Daytona every month asking for a contribution weren't bad enough... At least you can say Prescott right Bendy
  19. Hey.. a B-1 flew the lazer in "Real Genious"... that's a great flick
  20. Just wondering if it's appropriate for a potential OTS candidate to call Brooks for clarification on some medical issues. There's a number on the Brooks website, but I don't want to call it if it's only supposed to be used by people already IN the Air Force...
  21. Ya.. I read this today in my local paper... kinda makes you wonder huh?
  22. Interesting conversation.. here's my bit. I'm an ERAU Alum (01 PRC), so I will give my take on the whole experiance. Embry Riddle is a great school period when it comes to all aspects of aviation. Granted their pilot program is primarily to ready an individual for the airlines, but I would say at least half, if not more, of the AS proffesors at the Prescott campus are retired military (mostly AF, and a couple Navy). They imparted their experiances and knowledge in the classroom that was directly related to their careers in the military. The flying was great; good wx, good aircraft, etc. The only thing I regret about Riddle was the cost because I'm gonna be paying off some loans for quite a long time. But, the actual cost for flight time per hour was only like $60/hr for the 172S, and only $80 dual... which is a heck of alot better than the going rate at the local FBO here in Eugene. So overall the flight costs were actually pretty decent, just the out of state tuition was a bit much  I graduated at the end of August in 01... and a couple weeks later.. well we all know what happened. Talk about bad timing. With hardly any flight hours and not many jobs, that Aero. Science degree was pretty much useless. I have been struggling ever since, but thanks to the wonders of corrective eye surgery I now have the opportunity to achieve the dream that got me interested in flying in the first place! So, my advice, stay away from an Aero. Science degree. Luckily I managed to get the minor in Safety, so that will help if I decide to go with the NTSB someday down the road.. but in the mean time it's just a pretty framed piece of paper on my wall. Hopefully it will get put to good use soon... Oh, and when I was at ERAU PRC(97-01) the ratio was 35:1.... lots of slummin at the old Prescott High :D
