Anyone have any up to date Information on this ? Once you separate from active duty they ask if you plan to file a VA claim. How does that affect if you are transferring to the Reserves for a flying position ? Are you risking losing the flying job depending on what they claim? Should you just wait until leaving the Reserves ?

If time is infinite then it doesn’t matter the odds because at some point it could happen. That opens up a whole list of other topics such as multi verses , simulations , etc. But to say oh the odds are so low so there must be a creator is confirmation bias. There are several ways it could have happened and the real answer most likely we can’t even fathom. Humans can’t understand 1,000 years. Try understanding a billion. Our brains are made for short term thoughts , ie a lifetime.

Also looking for info on commuting. My #1 and 2 airline choices I would have to commute a state away. My number 3 has a hub in where I will be living. Anybody commuted long term with any advice ?

You can apply for a separation 1 year from your ADSC being up and no later than 6 months prior to your separation date. You can ask for a date less than 6 months but you need additional documents and a waiver from what I could tell. If your ADSC is up it still goes to your commander but skips the wing CC and I think assignments. If you palace front you do the exact same thing but the recruiter should gen up a 1288 signed by your unit. Even if your CC says no, AFPC can still say yes. It’s just a recommendation.

Says who ? They haven’t announced anything from what I’ve seen except rumors of a hiring board being put together.

Plus profit sharing that 10-12 percent. Plus retirement contributions of 12-15%. Plus per diem. Plus premium time. It seems like a normal 4-5 year dude is making 200-250k from what I can tell.

Thanks for sharing that. So the way I read it every 11F is eligible ? Will a recruiter or MPF be able to tell me how much and for what lengths ?

Does anyone know if there is a bonus for TRs? I’ve seen articles saying some reserve units offer nothing and some offer 18k. If so, is it year to year ?

Any Southwest guys care to weigh in? They weren’t on my radar for a long time but they are slowly becoming a top choice due to the amount of days off and how dense the trips are. They seem to be the most different from the legacies.

If you are apart of an airline can you post which one and the pros/cons associated with it? I know most of it personal preference but it’s good to hear opinions on why you like / don’t like it as much.

USERRA Protections
Ryder1587 replied to mightymighty's topic in Air National Guard / Air Force Reserves
If your are an ART do you get protections since you’re also a TR technically ? IE can you drop mil leave after being at an airline for an ART job? -
United announced today they are starting to hire immediately. Once all the majors start the train the USAF is going to see the pain that they are causing themselves. I just hope I bail before any type of stop loss is implemented.

Investment showdown -- beyond the Roth, SDP, & TSP
Ryder1587 replied to Swizzle's topic in Squadron Bar
I use Coinbase Pro and I like it a lot. I have 45% in each of Bitcoin and ethereum and the rest in small random coins. I think ether has the highest upside for the year at this point. The hard part is watching the volatility and not panic selling and just learning the cycles. The crash shouldn’t happen until the end of this year. Overall it’s speculative but I have 145% returns since March.- 1,190 replies

Investment showdown -- beyond the Roth, SDP, & TSP
Ryder1587 replied to Swizzle's topic in Squadron Bar
I think crypto is here to stay. I’ve been slowly investing since March and now that Tesla bought 1.5 billion in Bitcoin it’s becoming mainstream. Recommend investing a small amount of your portfolio into different types. High risk but high reward.- 1,190 replies

Funny to watch the CMSAF media accounts. It’s constantly deleted with anything that is negative towards here and it just keeps fueling the fire. Standard AF answer. We only listen to the answers we want. Suppress the rest. She’s a terrible role model.

These leaders act like money is the devil and we shouldn’t be making any decisions based on it. Completely disagree. The money is a huge reason whether I’m going to stay or not. But not the main one. Every time I move my wife loses 2-6 months of work which causes a pay cut. A bonus helps with this. There are some assignments or a 365 that I never want to do. But I would if the bonus was 60-75k. That money Maybe pays for my child’s tuition or funds 3-4 vacations in having to take a less than idea assignment. Are we all patriots ? Yes. We signed up to do the job. But once they commitment is up I’ve paid my dues and it’s up to the military to entice me to stay. Not the other way around.
-
So instead of removing the post and apologizing like a real leader would , she doubles down and says social media makes it look bad. No. That’s not what happened at all. You shared a story demoralizing the other side without knowing it whatsoever. if the tables were turned on a man he would be out the door quicker than the story surfaced. This is what happens when the military tries to take a role in social norms. How about instead we promote a dual mil couple that was together for 20 years instead.

Airline hiring can’t come back quick enough....
-
That exactly happens. As owning several homes sometimes I have to decrease the price based on the demand and economy. There can be 10 townhomes and people are paying 2-3 different rates at once. If it gets to the point where you’re paying several hundred more than someone you have the option to move out or negotiate with the owner for a new rate once your lease is up.

I agree that electronic ADI is way better. However this sounds more of a case of target fixation or radar fixation. That cross check comes with experience and knowing when to transition more to the HUD or the ADI versus trying to stern convert.

I Know there are a lot of it depends in this question. When do you all think hiring will start again for the domestic carriers ? As of now the levels traveling compares to a year ago are around 30-35%. If a vaccine comes tomorrow do you think it will still be middle of next year or later for hiring ? Worst case the vaccine doesn’t work. Maybe it takes 1-3 years before hiring again ?

Anyone have any gouge on the Aggressor lifestyle whether it be for Full or Part time ? Quality of the job , how busy it is , pros/cons, etc ? Is the ART route bad compared to AGR?

First I’ve heard of it. seems like the first writing on the wall for the Air Force refusing to fix their problems on the pilot side.
