Wow.

U-2 Dragonlady info
There are a set number of classes. If there is a lull in hiring, a class may go unfilled.

"We're not training commercial pilots."
Whether they leave the USAF at the 11, 15, 20 or 28 year point, 80% of the people saying this will eventually fly for the airlines. Enjoy your time in UPT. If you don't, you only have yourself to blame.

U-2 Dragonlady info
A U-2 leadership-related article from JQ Public. https://www.jqpublicblog.com/id-follow-guy/ Beale currently has... at least in my opinion... a great leadership lineup, all the way from the U-2 DO's up to the Wing CC. They've had great people in great spots over the years, but it's been a while since ALL of the positions were as good as they are now. The recent major upgrade to the 9 RW/CV slot completes the team. The previous 1 RS and 99 RS commanders were excellent, and the two new commanders (including Lt Col Nussbaum) are top-shelf choices.

Logging hours for airline app
I believe you'll get about 20-25 hours in the T-6. It's all with an IP, so you should be able to log all of it.

Logging hours for airline app
I really don't remember the details, but I've met at least two Navy S-3 NFO's (WSO's) that parlayed their NFO time into something relevant and were hired by a Regional airline. If I can recall who it is that knows them, I'll see if I can get the details and post it. I also know a Tomcat NFO that is a pilot for a Major airline. I'll have to ask him how he got his time, since the Tomcat didn't have a stick in the RCP. If you have your FAA PPL, I believe you can log it. Hacker? I figure you might know the answer on this one better than me.

Thunderbird F-16 flips at KDAY
The T-X jet is a long way from selection. Many, many years It would not surprise me, however, if it became the next Thunderbird jet. BTW, if any of you are at the Dayton show, let us know how the T-50 demo looks. I'm very intrigued.

RQ-4 Global Hawk
RQ-4 down, enroute from EDW to BAB. Crash site is near Mt Whitney (highest point in CONUS). No ejection attempt was made, are there are no survivors at the crash site. https://fox40.com/2017/06/21/spy-plane-on-routine-flight-to-beale-air-force-base-crashes-near-mt-whitney/ ども ありがと

Goldfein advocating FAA 1500 hour rule change???
I've got a friend that worked 17 days from Jan-May. 787 F/O. He does a lot of home improvement stuff (and is very good at it) while sitting at home on 13 hour call out.

Engine out procedures for Cessna 172-P
Hmmm.... I must have been doing something terribly wrong in the T-38. I usually took off with less than 1.5 hours of fuel on board. My landings did adhere to the Golden 12 Minute Rule, however.

https://www.aol.com/article/entertainment/2017/06/17/stephen-furst-animal-house-and-st-elsewhere-actor-dies-at-age-63/22439964/ That movie really is a classic. Godspeed, Flounder.

Engine out procedures for Cessna 172-P
I recommend you head over to the forum at Airline Pilot Central. It is more geared to what you are asking.

Engine out procedures for Cessna 172-P
1. Why would I assume it's not carb ice? 2. FAA stats: Most engine failures are do to fuel starvation. So change to the full tank and restart it. 3. "I remember an instructor saying" sounds like "I saw it on the internet, so it must be true".

Goldfein advocating FAA 1500 hour rule change???
That's a very good way to describe it. I'm going to use that description in the future.

Beat that? You don't have to work any days per month when you're furloughed. (I was furloughed twice).

RyanAir ridiculousness
This sort of thing happens in the U-2 quite often. Lots of folks want to join the "13 nautical mile high club".

What's wrong with the Air Force?
So true. A few years ago, I did my fitness test one month before I turned 50. My good friend who is 47 was in my group, plus 7 others. Of those 7, one was in his 30's and the rest were young Airmen in the 20's. I finished first in the 1.5 mile run, followed by my friend about 25" behind me. The two of us stood by the finish line and yelled "old guys rule!!" to the rest of the runners as they went by. It was pathetic to watch the ones in their early 20's struggling to make it 6 laps. They should be in great shape, and certainly good enough to beat a 50 year old Lt Col with an artificial hip.

Mudhen A-A kill in Syria
A scoff? I thought you pilots from Fighter Command always say "A kill's a kill"... right?

Well... that'll just about cover the fly-bys...

What not to do in Bogota
Everyone here knows that just about anything in the press related to a "military scandal" is full of incomplete information, and just plain errors and/or lies. This event and how it is being covered in the press is no exception.
