London military public slaying
Founded by a violent warrior,.. who married a 7 year old, and consummated the marriage when she was 9. But I digress. Here's a good resource: https://www.amazon.com/Not-Peace-But-Sword-Christianity/dp/1938983289 If Christianity's founder had done this, we would be celebrating his death, not his resurrection.

Who's Really Flying The Plane?
I did not narrow it to "pilots". Maybe,... but realize that "management" also wants to cut the number of flight attendants, gate agents and maintenance folks. Their trimming of employee costs is not limited to pilots. In the same way that some feel that technology allows fewer pilots to be required, the same is being said for the other employee jobs. Pilot & flight attendant costs: don't forget hotels, taxi/limo, meals/catering, pubs, recurrent training, retirement/medical benefits, etc... According to United,... whom I flew with for 2 years,... it is significant.

The U-2. Duh!

Who's Really Flying The Plane?
Salaries are the #2 cost for major airlines, right behind fuel. About 3 years ago, Ryan Air was making noise about wanting to move toward an airplane with no pilot on board. I would speculate that many in airline managment want to go to this single-pilot paradigm.

So, what exactly is that?

Apparently having "good hands" no longer matters....
I believe the Dept of the Navy has a little over 1000 Hornets,... ... so irrespective of what they did (or didn't do) a few years ago, do you think they can pay to upgrade that many in the current fiscal environment?

U-2 Dragonlady info
Sometime after 1903, Asian agents stole our aviation technology, and eventually, they learned to fly. Crazy, I know. Seriously, though... what do you mean?
-
U-2 Dragonlady info
Yep. The pilot's name is Ed Beaumont. We'd like to find him to get him to our 2015 reunion. If anyone happens to know him, please help out. Somewhere, I got some pictures that one of our maintenance guys gave me from the accident. He was part of the recovery team that got there a few hours after the accident.

Apparently having "good hands" no longer matters....
The dreaded "you have to fly it on steam gauges" approach. Scary stuff. Kind of like the T-38C "no HUD" approach & landing. I'm sure it has stymied many a great pilot. Or the "I've failed your primary GPS,... you'll have to use the secondary nav system to find your way." No WAY we would want to use a sectional chart. That's craaazy. Every Air Force flying unit should have a Companion Trainer. And it should probably be a piston-powered aircraft that has only one instrument in the cockpit: an oil pressure gauge about 4 inches in diameter, smack in the middle of the panel.

MC-12 Crash in Afghanistan
Yes,... pretty impressive to see a line of people a couple of miles long on base,... all saluting his convoy. Too bad most of America doesn't see this. I hope I never see it again, though.

C2 Question - SOFs and Command Post
SOF program: should be a priority for elimination in the current fiscal environment. A complete waste of manpower. I'm sure many of you disagree,... and maybe your experience would prove contrary to mine.

Info on flight boots
Outstanding! Good caveat. But,... for the sake of "splitting hairs",... that aircraft was not originally designed for the military (i.e. not "mil-spec"). But your point is made. p.s. that Basler conversion looks sweet.

Info on flight boots
Oh, that's funny! Do Mil-Spec pilots even know how to use the rudder?? I mean,... after they are done with the nose wheel steering function.

Lack of Flight Discipline
I arrived Bagram ~20 June 2011 to fly the MC-12. Was there about 7 months, including during the time of said incident. You mention you knew both of the pilots involved. Unless you are talking about additional instances, one of the pilots of the incident being referred to arrived well after you (approx Sept or Oct). As for the issue of flashcards and such, I'm not sure what specifically you are referring to that was on those cards that was prohibited,... not that I remember them much anymore. I simply do not recall anything related to this incident. I was an ADO in the squadron and was questioned in great detail and have some solid first hand information. I do not wish to discuss details on this or any forum. The aircraft commander in question was in my opinion was the most knowledgeable and highly regarded pilot in the squadron. I strongly believe he is being made a scapegoat. I'm not willing to explain why. Irrespective of what my or your opinion of that crew is, let me just say there is "more to the story". In a few months after I retire, maybe I'll discuss it over a beer. The "court of public opinion" is flawed.

Lack of Flight Discipline
Cryoglobin, When did you go through the MC-12 training? Were you at Bagram when it happened? Do you know any of the 4 crew members involved personally? Are you aware of anything,... via firsthand knowledge,... of the ensuing investigation? Were you someone who was questioned by the interim investigating team at Bagram? Curious. Please let me know.

Chief of AF Sexual Assault Prevention Branch at Pentagon Arrested for Sexual Assault
The first thing that comes to my mind is how some feminists are going to pressure Congressmen into "action". They will ratchet up our pain level another couple of notches, WRT the sexual assault arena. We will all be made out to be from the same bolt of cloth as Lt Col Krusinski. Let the beatings begin.

Tim Tebow (NSFW)
ALCON: refer to the Diversity AFI. "To ensure Diversity and fairness, commanders mush ensure that they have some not-so-high quality personnel. Otherwise, it would be unfair and discriminatory." So even if Tebow has lost his talent, he deserves to be put somewhere in the NFL. It's only fair.

Tablet recommendations for civil flying
I prefer "the paper Sectional". Highly reliable. Everything I need is on it. If I find myself thinking I will need something for IFR filght,... I'll wait until it's VFR.

MC-12 Crash in Afghanistan
Since I'm not FB savvy, how do you see that info on FB? I doubt any of you are "FB Friends" with the crewmembers, so do you do a search of some sort, or what?

Just saw this. Love it. Answer: white! In violation of the AFI, no doubt.
