More Uniform Changes!
A "morale shirt"? I've never heard it called a "morale shirt".

Oshkosh, b'gosh!
First time since '02 that I'm missing it. Have a great time.

Senators Ask Panetta For Estimate To Terminate JSF Program
A better question would be "have they done this in a situation where this was the only option for employing air assets?" We've all seen too many instances where a Service or their asset was called in, mainly because they wanted a cut of the action.

Home of The Fighter Pilot
It's an internet forum... try using a name rather than a vague "someone". A lot of others could use the SA. Maybe so. But any truth to the rumor that many ANG fighter units have lost their bar?

WTF? (**NSFW**)
Touche, monsieur. One did, and I very certain the other 3 did. FWIW, the one captain lost his eye, and spent a minimum of 6 months learning to work with monocular vision. After that period, he went through sim training, and then was certified by an FAA-designated examiner. It's been determined that binocular vision is not critical from the cockpit of airliners. IIRC, the field of regard, distances, etc.... are such that the difference is in the noise level. This was a long time ago, so things may have changed. But generally, those changes involve getting less restrictive.

Military Cadet Suing Patti LaBelle
Hey, now wait a minute! I was certainly not trashing Strait and Nelson... I know you had them in your collection (who doesn't?),... and I just couldn't imagine you saying "hey, let after this Willie and Merle duet is over, I'll throw on some Patti."

Military Cadet Suing Patti LaBelle
So,... how many of her albums do you have? They're in your CD cabinet, right next to George Strait and Willie Nelson, right?

AF Light Air Support Aircraft
You mean companies like Northrop-Grumman, and their top-notch RQ-4? Just curious what GA companies you do not like.

Anyone looked at the Boneyard on Google Maps lately?
Hmmmm... don't see any U-2's in there.

U-2 Dragonlady info
Last I heard, two Beale T-38's are going, and will be on Aeroshell Square. Halloran is a class act, no matter how you slice it. And his list of aviation stuff he's done in his post-AF career is equally impressive. He comes to our rental house BBQ every year at Oshkosh, and having him there is always a highlight.

New Powered Flight Program Aircraft at USAFA
Do you really need an answer to this question? You cannot figure it out?

U-2 Dragonlady info
Not true: she PCS'd to school. FWIW, we've had approximately 7 women selected to fly the U-2 over the years.

Wow...Epic SR-71 story.
Seems to me that those are significant skill sets that the AF needs. Do you think that 20 years ago we were even close to the level we are at now in these areas? If you ask the Task Force guys on the ground their opinion, I'd say you'd have some big supporters. While I wish we had $1 trillion more to allow everyone to fly 5 times a week and be King Kong in their weapons system, that's not the reality. We're in a COIN war now... fight and train appropriately.

So, when are you going to breakdown and build the jet-powered Sonex?

If you ever have the choice, take the taildragger.

U-2 Dragonlady info
The Beale link for the U-2 Application has been unreliable the past year (thanks to Comm Sqdn). Bottom line, you'll need 500 hours fixed wing rated military time, in addition to your total rated time of 1300 hours (not sure, but that's real close). Call DSN 368-4447, and talk to Recruiting.

I'm not a gambler, but I'd put money down it will fly until at least 2019.

UK Marine's Wake
Personally,... if I had no one close to leave it to,... I think I could find a number of different things to do with the money that would have a more significant impact. He certainly loved his friends,... but it reminds me of the lady that left her fortune to her cats. In any case, God bless him for serving, and willing to go into harm's way.

Fighter-isms
I knew it would only be a matter of a few hours before Hacker ball-walked into this conversation. "Disgrace of the Armed Forces"? Really? I find it disgraceful the author didn't capitalize "Armed Forces".

When I buy one, it will have 912's on it, not 582's.

Unfortunately,... had this happened in this country,... he would have faced some sort of lawsuit and/or felony charges.

Queen decorates Nepali for Afghanistan heroics
Unlike in the US Military,... when you receive a medal in the British military, it means something of significance.
