  1. Interesting. So the way I read this, they don't have to provide flight suits, but if they don't you need to get a clothing allowance to buy ABUs?
  2. You're welcome. Sorry for the crappy quality, but had to keep it under 2MB to attach. Gold Bond.wmv
  3. So....TIB is performing in Wichita Falls tonight. I figured - what the hey, I've never seen them and probably shouldn't make fun of them until I can check them out for myself. Besides, there's nothing else to do Friday night, it's at the local entertainment center in town, and it's free...maybe I'll take the family. Then yesterday an email goes out to the entire base, "All military members attending TIB will be in ABUs" (shortly corrected to include flight suits...apparently they just assumed no pilots would go). God forbid you give the locals the impression that there aren't a bunch of military folks in the crowd. Sorry, I've been in uniform all week and I'm not keeping it on the go to a concert, so I guess I'll just have to make fun of them without ever seeing them.
  4. WSO charged with stalking, assault ...and tried to run them down with his car, and burned one of them with an iron. Seriously - WTF?
  5. The comparison isn't about the specific maneuver, it's about a mentality that, when allowed to continue, can have bad results.
  6. Okay, I'll be the asshole. If what has been said is true, and somebody barrel rolled an MC-12, get them the fuck out of the Air Force. Flying a little low on a flyby is one thing - easily handled in the DO's office. Same for hugging the deck too closely or jacking the nose up too high on an unrestricted climb. Knowing nothing about the situation, this sounds like a couple dudes who pushed the limits of an aircraft past what is allowed in the T.O. This isn't a "momentary deviation", it is a willful breach of flight discipline. The Bud Holland analogy is spot on. Why in the world would you want somebody like this flying with you?
  7. Apparently it's been full of them for a while. for those who don't want to read the entire case study.
  8. Where can I find guidance on operating in a MOA while in IMC? Let's say I enter the top of a MOA at FL230 and there's a solid deck from FL180-190 that I want to descend through in order to operate below. I am on an IFR flight plan, but I'm not talking to or actively being controlled by ATC (I'm on a discrete frequency and monitoring Guard). I've been told different things from different folks - one is that you need to remain VMC while in the MOA, abiding by Class E airspace VFR cloud clearances. The other is that you can enter IMC because you're on an IFR flight plan. I know which one I think is right, but I'm looking for something in writing to back up the correct answer. I've looked through 11-202, GP, and AP/1A - no luck.
  9. Some pictures and minimal info here.
  10. Everybody's getting their assignments with the new e-mail system, right? Are they (normally) supposed to all go out at the same time? I would have assumed so, but I'm supposed to be getting an assignment and I haven't seen anything.
  11. Okay, so I know the definition of a Numbered Air Force, but can somebody explain to me why we have them? They're the tactical echelon below a MAJCOM, got it. But if they're simply a staff asset to run things, why don't we absorb them into the MAJCOMs? And why in the hell do we have MAJCOMs that only have one NAF? Isn't that kind of like having an Ops Group that only has one squadron? What the hell is the point? Got talking about this in light of all the budget cuts. Seems like we could save some $$$ if we get rid of the NAFs.
  12. Maybe the so-called bros would support him if he wasn't doing the exact job with the exact same responsibilities as all of us. It's not jealousy, it's embarrassment. Talk about how great you are in the bar with the bros, not on the internet to win money.
  13. Bit of a revival - does anybody know if there is a reg governing deployments? I recall during mobility we had to confirm that we were not within six months of PCS in order to be able to deploy. I'm trying to confirm that once I'm within six months of PCSing I cannot be deployed. Additionally, when exactly does the exemption start? In other words, do I have to be back from my deployment six months prior, or can I simply not leave once I'm within the six month window?
  14. I guess you had to be there.
