  1. Yeah, Travis is the only base I've been to where the rent-a-cops @ the gate salute O's. I first found it weird, but now after driving through the gate every weekday, its business as usual. I actually find myself almost saluting the guys at other bases out of habit.
  2. Must be Cyber Command. So, are the answers still on there? I've heard the Ctrl D doesn't work anymore. Thank God I did mine recently!
  3. That crazy Awec Bawlwin...
  4. Nothing wrong with that!
  5. I was joking as well, and my name isn't Fransis.
  6. Dude, take your pills.
  7. So, does one need a line # for Maj to enroll in said ACSC/Masters Distance Learning (DL) Course? I like the idea of knocking a few birds out w/one stone.
  8. Jepp airfield diagrams are so much better than the DOD ones...'fo show.
  9. Cowboy boots combined with the cardigan would be killer!
  10. Yeah, like its hard to have your flight suit/boots on standby in you car just in case you need to fly that day. Even though I hate wearing blues as much as the next guy---this is probably one of the lamest excuses for needing to wear your bag on Monday.
  11. Housing is definitly more affordable now...compared to 2.5 yrs ago. I still would think its not a bad idea to rent, as home prices are still on the decline in this area (Solano County). Having said that, I think you would be ok buying now...esp with the low interest rates. Houses that used to go for $550K 2.5 yrs ago, are now on the market for $325K. Still overpriced, IMO. Vacaville is a nice town.

    e-pubs

If you are flying something with a pointy-nose, probably not a good idea having e-FLIP. However, when you roll with another pilot, FE, Boom Operator (and all have one) you'll be ok if one shits the bed.

    e-pubs

@ Travis, we're researching a Kindle-type electronic reader that will be capable of carrying all of our epubs/checklists AND FLIP. So, hopefully we won't ever have to carry pubs or a worldwide bag of FLIP. Its and 8.5 x 11 touchscreen reader, so would be easy to read. The plan would be for each crew member to have one. A lot of up front costs, but we think it may save money in the long run since you won't needs boxes full of paper pubs every couple months. Right now though, the AD crews are doing epubs on disks, and the reserves are doing the thumb drive epubs updated through a non-network computer. We've looked into getting the i/o magic 8 GB hard drive (network friendly), but not sure what ever came of that.
  14. Sounds like you're speaking/typing from experience.
  15. At first, I thought that you were full of shit. I'm not even going to ask how you found this...all I can say is that you need a hobby! When asked the question now, I can bust out "Oh, its in the ACP 121(H) pg 24. You fucking co-pilots don't know shit!"
  16. I'm sure CH has paid his dues. Great 2nd post. Kids.
  17. Do you enjoying staying in hotels like Hilton, Hyatt, Westin, and Outrigger? Go KC-10s. Do it, do it. We aren't TWCF biyatches!!
  18. I guess he's not kidding...this is from wikipedia: Muffin the Mule And we all know (including Michael Scott) that wikipedia is always correct.
  19. We've had a few guys go from -10s to the E-4 in the past couple of years, and was wondering what life is like in the E-4. Can anyone here shed a little light? I'm just looking for the standard: quality of life, TDY rate, the mission, length of tour, etc. I'm guessing they do a fair amount of sitting alert. No joy on the search. Thanks for the help. Techsan
  20. This thread is PURE GOLD. It also needs to be renamed CBT gouge.
  21. Ctrl D...damn, where was that a couple of months ago?? I'll have to give that a shot when have to do CBRNE again just before our ORI this year.
  22. Yeah, that CBRNE cbt is way too long. Our sq has a book of all of the questions/answers, so it'll take you 2 hrs instead of 10. At least the class portion is only a couple hours long.
  23. Good call on the reading material. I hadn't heard that one. I'll have to try that one next time...unless my evaluator is of the female variety. I'm not sure I'd be willing to purchase some Man-porn, or risk having a sexual harrassment charges brought on me.
  24. Squaw isn't the only one with FREE lift tickets for those in the military. Here are the other ones (in case you live/visit the Sac area): Northstar (free on Sundays only) Homewood (free all day, every day) Alpine If you have ground time @ Travis, you can rent skis on base for about $15/day. The drive to Tahoe from Travis is about 2.5 hrs. Enjoy!!
  25. Wow, I use that one too. I definitely have to chew gum during AR. Polar is the most refreshing & helps the concentration. I'll give you a zero breakaway guarantee.
