I rock out like my man Dwight...in the first part, replace "Why are you going to give me a raise?" with "Why are you going to give me a Q1?"

If I was a Fighting Flamingo, I'd have to kick my own ass.

Big deal that her picture was on some porn site. Its not like they photo-shoped her head onto some naked chick's body. Its just a picture of her at a game. I honestly don't think that she would freak out if you showed her the picture. This is what would happen if you did: She would probably tell her friends/family about what had happened, and how she found out about it...you. So, now everyone knows that you dig on that kind of porn...not that its a surprise that guys check out porn.

Speaking of PDAs/smartphones, anyone here know of any good aviation related mobile websites (weather, notams, etc)? I think there's a couple of good applications for the iphone, but I want to know what's out there for a Windows Mobile phone.

Yeah, got a short-notice email last week asking for vols to do a 179-day 'er in DC to help stand up the new command. Best of all...short tour credit....in DC. I wonder if you'd get Hostile Fire Pay/IDP for being TDY to DC?? Still a decent deal if you are on the bubble for a short tour.

I was going to say the same thing. I'd have that station programmed into my #3 button in my car. I love me some Rage.

I'd love to upgrade to the iphone, however I haven't been with AT&T long enough to buy it for $199/$299 (8GB/16GB). The price for me would be $399/$499. Ouch! I'm still tempted to take the plunge.

Sorry, but The Chicken is a shithole. I think the McGuire's in Destin is much better than PCola.

I'm jealous. I love me some Texas. I prefer Uncle Julios for Tex Mex. You won't find anywhere in the U.S. with better restaurants than in Dallas.

Seriously fellahs, we need some pictures here...

I was just there in the past few weeks and Roy's was still open. The new place won't open up for another couple months. As far as Dhafra goes...you won't be too disappointed. If you are aircrew, you'll have 2 to a room. I heard the maint. folks were doing 3 to a room (sucks for the guy on the top bunk). The wifi is up and running and you can receive it just about anywhere but in your room. It is ridiculously slow, but I think they were trying to add some bandwidth so that it didn't take 3 mintues to load a page. Probably the best place to hang out is the pool, that is if you're not flying/working nights. Services can set you up with some nice trips. I think the way it works is that if you have a group that wants to go somewhere in particular, they'll have a driver and a van/bus for a small fee. I don't think there is a limit on how many trips you can go on, but I know that you have to be there 15 days before you can venture off base. The water park trip is a good time...so I've heard. The Thirsty Camel & Chapman Activity Center (CAC) can hook you up with your 2 beers/day. Occasionally they'll up the limit to 3 on the weekends...they did a few weeks ago when they brought in some Reggae band to play.

I'll 2nd that.

Rainy season hasn't started yet...probably not until November. It seriously hasn't rained here @ my house in the past 5 months. I'm sure by March I'll be wishing the sun would come out more. I just re-read this post... We have 3 homes in foreclosure within 50 yds of where I live. One home was for sale 2 yrs ago, asking $525K. It sold @ auction last month for $345. Ouch! Glad I didn't buy a couple yrs ago!

75% live in either Fairfield or Vacaville. The other 25% is mostly Sacramento, Davis, Dixon, and Benecia. There are certain parts of Fairfield (everything south of Air Base Pkwy) that are straight up ghetto, however there are parts of Fairfield that are nice (I live in Fairfield). If your wife will be working West of Travis...Fairfield, Green Valley, Benecia would probably work best. If she will be working East of Travis...Vacaville, Dixon, Davis, W Sac will work out nice. Vacaville isn't too bad. It does have older areas like Fairfield, however they are not quite as ghetto. Vacaville also has more restaurants, shopping, etc. Most folks live in the area called Brown's Valley. Most people nowadays are renting. I would venture to say that about 75% of guys rent. The other 25% are usually those that both husband and wife work, and no kids (DINKs). I would probably stay away from purchasing a home right now, but if you are willing to spend some time looking, you may be able to find a few foreclosures....a whole other discussion. I'm sure you all will enjoy your time here @ Travis. I just wish it would rain here! I haven't seen any precip for months now!

True, however those homes burnt to a crisp were all condemned and unoccupied. Probably saved the AF on demo costs. Waiting time for O base housing is still about 1.5 yrs. The houses are somewhat new, however are quite small. My wife about shit herself when she saw how especially tiny the kitchens are. We ended up taking a pass on base housing when we made it to the top of the list.

I just received this today in my email inbox... Gotta love it! New Monday blues policy from our OG: 1. Sims on Monday will be done in blues. 2. If you are to engage in an activity requiring a utility uniform, when that activity is over and there is remaining duty day requiring your presence you need to change into blues. Likewise, if you come in early before said activity come in blues and change into utilities. 3. If you are wearing a utility uniform, please minimize your activities outside the squadron or the necessary areas requiring utilities

Space & missiles wearing flightsuits are gay...and you want to know whats even more gay? Cadets who are going into space & missiles wearing flightsuits. As for cadets w/pilot slots wearing flightsuits...absolutely. You have earned a pilot slot, so you should dress the part. Its just an f-ing uniform, its not like you're getting a set of wings or leather jacket. @ my school, wearing a flightsuit in no way helped your chances of picking up chicks. In fact, it probably had the opposite effect (for other guys). Of course I never had a problem, flightsuit or not, in picking up the ladies. That just how I roll.

I was a casual LT @ the time, so I was sleeping in. Got a call from my roommate..."dude, you haven't heard whats happened?" 2 seconds later, get the call from the squadron to report ASAP. Base is in Delta, and it looks as if WWIII is in full effect. That same day, noticed they had 5 fully loaded Eagles cocked on alert @ the end of the rwy.

I'm pissed that I now need to figure out how to carry the many things I have in my 7 flight suit pockets. cell phone pen pencil highlighter chapstick thumbdrive wallet sunglasses flight cap keys gum knife I know that blues are part of our AF, and we should look good in whatever uniform we are required to wear. As much as I would like to look like a complete 'tard in my blues (cardigan sweater, etc.), I will make sure its crisp and sharp. We all know that wearing a different uniform one day a week is not a big deal. Its just the idea that AF upper management made it policy when many many other things need to be addressed before "Blues Monday". As a whole, we are getting kicked in the balls every other day w/ never ending deployments, TDYs, exercises, inspections, and too many pointless ancillary training CBTs. And doing all of those things with practically no one in the squadron. So, this is just one more kick in the junk. I am proud to serve, but can't help counting my days left on active duty.

You wish! I've been trying to figure what she's saying...its definitly "Pork & Beans"

I about shit myself when I saw the email this afternoon. I can't wait to see everyone on Monday with "pocket crunch". You know, when your f-ing pants are way too tight and you pockets bunch up on ya and you can actually see the white from the inside of your pocket. It'll be hilarious. I have only one pair of pants that somewhat fit, but I think I may just find my tightest pair and throw them on for laughs. I'm thinking the CSAF has stock in AAFES. Those prisoners who make our uniforms are going to be working overtime! Check page 4 bro

Disagree. Most AF IPs are at least semi-intelligent and would not think they know everything about being an instructor in a 172...unless they actually do. I definitly know my limits and would never kid myself that being an IP of a DC-10 is the same as a 172. Of course you could always run into the idiot who thinks he does. I think it makes sense and is a good idea. Mods, feel free to merge with the original topic....
