  1. If you've ever been an IP and have flown with another, you know what I'm talking about. You'll let the other guy go further than you would a co-rocket. For example, you're both IP's and are getting vectors for an ILS in the weather. The controller give you shitty vectors and vectors you right to, or even just inside of, the FAF. The other IP is flying, so you let him continue the approach when you probably should of taken a few more turns back around to final. If you were with a co, without a doubt you would of taken a few additional turns back around. You also don't run into the whole "I thought you got the fuel card" game after stopping at Chennault for lunch. Good thing the guys are ok. What a great town to be stuck in for a couple days...that is unless they bus'd them to Dyess.
  2. The news channel said on their video report that it was two IPs on board. If true, 2 IP's flying together is never a good thing.
  3. Our travel voucher didn't have our AOR landing location on it because we didn't stay the night there. Thats why we used an 1881. Either way, I'm not sure why it's taking so long. We even had to turn a second form in because they had lost the 1st one. Just a little annoying.
  4. Why I hate finance... Our crew submitted our combat pay/tax exlusion form early in April (for the month of April) and haven't seen our goodies yet, so its been over a month now! Seriously, how hard is it to input those things? I can't imagine its very difficult.
  5. I wouldn't reccommend living in Portales (Eastern NM Univ). If you thought Clovis sucked, Portales sucks even more. Its probably about half the size as Clovis. For a single guy, living in Clovis is really the only option. I went to school in Lubbock, while my parents lived in Clovis, so I've made that drive about 100 times. Not something you'd want to do on a daily basis. It'll take you 1.5 hrs to drive to Clovis, then another 20 min to get to the base. The drive from Amarillo is almost exactly the same time/distance...and Amarillo doesn't have Texas Tech!

    Walk of shame

Good stuff! I think its funny that Great Lakes is the only airline that flies into Clovis. No where near any lakes, let alone a 'Great Lake'.
  7. My prayers go out to the friends & families.
  8. We still run the channel to Australia here @ Travis. Once a week...via Hawaii. It's usually a B config (16 seats minus additional crew), so your chances of grabbing a seat aren't the best...but still doable.
  9. Cooter- Good luck on the 8th Deid duty. Sheesh. We'll expect a full report on the new Muff.
  10. In all 5 moves I've had in the AF, if I have something already boxed up from say the previous move, the moving company will want to unpack that and pack it up themselves. I usually just tell them that its ok, and they add the comments 'CP' to the inventory, meaning 'Customer packed'. Therefore, if something is damaged in that box, they are not responsible for the damages. I obviously don't work for TMO or JPSO, so I can't tell you for sure. Its sounds like she doesn't know much of what she's talking about.
  11. Hey tac- You need to post some pics brother!
  12. If you're currently residing in the great state of Texas, you MUST have some Ziegenbock. Brewed and available only in TX. It's similar to Shiner, but just a tad better, IMO.
  13. A lot of that is because of the WG/CC there at Dhafra. I flew a few missions with BG Wells, and can honestly say he is a good guy. He had some crazy stories to tell about different shennanigens on base. I'm pretty pumped about having some Wifi out there...now I can use my own computer and actually keep up with my fantasy football teams, since the network denied access to everything but ESPN fantasy. I'm hoping the 'good deal police' won't find out about the Wifi and shut it down. It'll probably only be a matter of time though.
  14. M2, thanks for that memory jogger. I haven't seen that site in almost a year. Quite a few hotties added since then...and a fair share of not-so-hotties.
  15. All-female -135 crew Sounds like 4 empty kitchens to me! Kidding, of course. Seriously though, Saudi controllers treat everyone that way...not just because you are a female.
  16. I've heard rumors of wireless in the CAC (Chapman Activity Center). Haven't confirmed it either though, so I guess I'm no help.
  17. Either because they: ( A ) Are expendable ( B ) Have vehicular evasion training ( C ) Will give away their position to the enemy ( D ) All of the above
  18. Nametags4U I've used these guys a couple of times, and was pleased with their customer service.
  19. Not sure what the 12 Chimneys is, but our taxi ride to the Hyatt was pretty f-ing scary. Guy was all over the place. 3 nights at the Hyatt helped though.
  20. Oh yeah, for out-and-backs, I reccommend Northwest Arkansas Regional (XNA). They are hardly ever busy, have their own approach control, and good ass barbque at the FBO for $1. Its one of the nicer FBOs you'll ever go to.
  21. You'll like Grand Junction. We flew there all the time when I flew C-21s. The military FBO is run by a former Navy guy...can't remember his name though. If you call up the FBO when you're in the pattern, they'll order pizza for you so it will be there when you land. He'll also hook you up with Grand Junction made chocolate/toffee that is money. I would also highly reccommend doing your VFR portion out of Grand Junction & through the mountains. Be sure to bring a camera! Also, if you're doing instrument approaches at Grand Junction, take a close look at the published missed approaches. They will always give you one of those for your climbout. They aren't difficult, but they might catch you off guard if you're not prepared.
  22. WTF!? I would think that Sonde, Greenland would be on the list. Also, maybe they should include ORBD.
  23. Yeah, I'm aware.
  24. You could always go to the Fair and cruise the 4-H babes. Seriously though, single guys have about a 1.5 hr drive to Lubbock. Lots of tail there with Texas Tech being there. Not optimal, but at least its something. Reference:
  25. Sucks to hear of another mishap. I'm sure those guys had fun giving up copius amounts of blood and urine. In the mighty KC-10, setting the parking brake is in our ground evacuation checklist...even with suspected hot brakes.
