  1. Was that back in Nov of 2001? If so, I was stuck there too at ATL when they made all 5 terminals exit and then had to re-enter security about 10 hours later. What a cluster. I did though end up meeting this hot ass Coast Guard ensign. BTW, excellent thread!
  2. Brick- You are truly the king of f-ing long posts!
  3. To answer question #1: Your unit won't send you to supply for your jacket until you're mission qual'd. Thats how most squadrons operate. You'll have to be pretty proactive in order to get a jacket, if you want one. If your squadron is like the rest of the AF, they will always say they don't have any money...until the end of the FY, where they are buying everything under the sun.
  4. 378 downloads

This is a couple years old, but still has good info. The only thing that has changed a little bit is the boldface on the last page. Other than that, everything should be gold.
  5. 180 downloads

I'm sure most 10 guys know about this article, but if you don't... It'll make you think twice before you spout out your takeoff/abort brief.
  6. Autozone offers a 10% discount to mil folks. Not huge, but every little bit helps right?
  7. While I was deployed to the Deid we were able to score a Benchmade. You had to show them a copy of your aeronautical orders though. I guess there was a Herk LM that was getting them and selling them on ebay, so they made the A.O. a requirement. The only thing I ever use my knife for is cutting the strings on my flightsuit at cruise. As GBock stated, tanker guys are issued the Dixie 69P knife with BOX lunches. Most use them to spread peanut butter/jelly or mayo on their bread/sandwich. What makes the 69P knife so great is that it can be discarded after each flight. The downside is that they only come in white.
  8. What does a type in either the 707 or 717 really get you anyways? Not like they're flown commercially anymore. Maybe its just me, but I wouldn't think a potential employer would care much for what your type ratings are, except for those which are relevent.
  9. Just curious, anyone else out there in the AOR have to tuck in their Air Force PT shirts?? Its policy now in Dhafra, and I think CENTAF in general. We also have to salute when wearing PTs...is that the gayest thing you've ever heard? Maybe we need a "Dumness in CENTAF" thread. Why does the AF have to make things so painful while you're deployed? Also, there is also a policy in Dhafra that you cannot wear any morale patches. I understand on some of the patches, but I was stopped just the other day by a O-5 type for having a KC-10 morale patch on. It was funny that he told me to take the MORALE patch off. We wouldn't want any morale in the AOR!!
  10. I agree that outing someone who isn't who they say they are is worthwhile, however this thread is getting old. 217 posts? For the love of God, someone please pop lock and drop it.
  11. I'm thinking this whole thing is just a marketing scam, paid for by corvette and airwarriors.com
  12. The USAFA guys have no idea what you mean here. I've driven on Friday mornings to class after being out all night at the Midnight Rodeo (aka Rope-a-hoe), and have to say that it was not the best of ideas. I then realized that my best option was to sleep in and not go to class. Good on ya though for the good use of ORM.
  13. I don't think its that bad of an idea. Besides, you can have fun trying to see how high you can get your BAC.
  14. That is just sad. It makes sense though that he was going to school in CA. A lot of crazies out here...especially in socal.
  15. This guy has to be Doug Masters. A 26 yr old F-16 pilot/AF lawyer that is a Maj sel...yeah, not so much. I'm guessing 16 yr old. I like you sig bunk, we have a guy here who has the exact same one except his say 'AF pilot' instead of Navy.
  16. AFTTP 3-3.22A. Air Force Tactics Techniques and Procedures. The 3-3 is the Unclassified version...the 3-1 is the classified. Every AF airframe (including OSA/VIPSAM) have both a 3-1 and 3-3. You'll get the 3-3 from your squadron when you get your pubs (or epubs). Start reading it from day 1 of training, it has good info.
  17. I finished KC-10 FTU not all that long ago, and never saw any gouge. All you really need to do is read your 3-3. It will tell you everything you need to know, and most the IP's at FTU quote straight from that. I will post a good study guide with pretty much all of the numbers you need to know. It's been a few year since its been updated, however it seems to be up to speed. Ops_Limits_Unlimited.doc 2005_Pilot_MQF.pdf
  18. I'm always snapping photos when I'm on the road, and have come to the realization that my digital camera sucks arse. Anyone here have any recommendations for a quality digital camera for under $300. I'm a big fan of the compact point and shoot camera (fits nicely in the flight suit), however the pictures don't seem to come out as good. Feel free to post a picture you've taken with your camera. Spam

That made me laugh...you're sick HD.
  20. I always laugh at those AFPC robot emails, asking for volunteers on 180-day Iraqi vacations. I wonder what their success rate is in getting volunteers.
  21. Great idea for a topic. I've had to use that <24 hrs reg a time or two in the C-21 world.
  22. The laptop thread got me thinking...I've been considering upgrading to a smart phone with Sprint. I've also considered getting just a PDA, but I really don't want to tote around a PDA and a cell phone. Anyone here use a smart phone with sprint or another carrier? If so, what kind of phone/plan do you use? I'm just looking to see if its worth getting. My pocket-sized notebook is starting to get messy and I need a little more organization. Techsan
  23. I coached little league when I was in college...good times. I wasn't there for the 'tryouts' so they gave my team all of the kids with 2 left feet, mixed with a few wannabe thugs (It was 13-15 yr olds). Just a few years ago, one of those wannabe thugs killed his step mom with a baseball bat and is now doing life in prison. In retrospect, I wish that I hadn't gave him pointers on his swing. Good to see that my mentoring really paid off .
  24. I think Brabus is at UPT right now...that would probably explain that comment he made. 1Lt + wings = FAIP Here's my opinion on the whole saluting Lt's BS: LTs LTs is dumb. We are not the Army. Oh yeah, wouldn't a SNAP be the guy that demands the 2Lt to him because he's a 1Lt? Isn't that being a little "sensative"? Either way, can we all just get back to talking about this USAFA grad dork that was at the gym? Anyone else have any LTs pulling rank stories? They crack me up!
  25. Good stuff...thanks a bunch. I usually just bother our ARMS folks for a ground training summary, but they are always busy (on ebaums).
