  1. That's such a cop out.
  2. Exactly!
  3. From Cannon's WG/CC, via GDSS3 (Facebook): Air Commandos, On 28 Nov 12 General Welsh rescinded the AF policy directing Wings to wear Class B (blues) on Mondays. Lt Gen Fiel has directed that AFSOC Airmen are NOT required to wear the AF Blue uniform on Mondays. Effective immediately, Airmen assigned to Cannon AFB and AFSOC may wear appropriate utility uniforms every day of the week. Subordinate commanders on Cannon AFB may specify the appropriate uniform. Col Elton
  4. That's actually step 1 to being an AF pilot of any sorts...thick skin.
  5. Agreed. I can look at a METAR, TAF, radar loop, and forecast maps just the same....all from my iPhone and/or iPad. Especially within the CONUS.
  6. There is yard work @ Nellis? Aren't all the yards made of rocks?
  7. A place wear the beer flows like wine...a little place I like to call Hickam.
  8. They currently are here @ Andrews. Including the main gate where they wear blues, white gloves, white laces on their boots, & ascots. I rarely see the rent a cops @ the gate.
  9. Little Debbie is better anyway!
  10. Yeah, haven't they seen Munich?
  11. If so, good to hear he punched. Hopefully he'll be alright.
  12. Just have to say it...the American public is STUPID!
  13. It probably depends on what phase your base is in... Ours is in phase 2, and it came loaded on our iPads...along with ARINC Direct & JeppFD.
  14. If they are doing administrative duty, why not give them the duty title of Executive Officer? There can be more than one. I "worked" as a SELO when I was casual, so that was mine. We also had dudes that helped out the scheduler, so they used that title. With today's age of force shaping & PRFs for LTs, you can't really get away with some kind of bogus duty title. You definitely need to make sure your bros are set up for success. I was also the snacko in a fighter sq when I was casual, and my supervisor no shit had a bullet in my LOE that started with 'Master of food & beverage!'
  15. In the desert, I would oftentimes wait until a sortie to take a shit...our lav was that nice. Besides, gave me something to do on the Blvd. I've been surprised though so far as to the unbelievably shitty battery life of the AMC pad. On an out and back a few weeks ago from the east coast to CO, my battery went down to 30%...I was using it for charts with Foreflight, but its not like I had it on the whole time or was using the wifi and/or GPS puck. I swear my personal ipad2 has a better battery. I guess I should complain since it much nicer than lugging a bunch of paper FLIP around.
  16. I was in your exact situation when I went through UPT back in 2003. Graduated UPT on Thursday, wedding on Saturday, honeymoon cruise Sunday, returned from honeymoon on the next Sunday, departed for WST/CST Monday. As with anything in the Air Force, as you'll soon learn, make sure you let your flight commander know. If they have enough lead time, they can oftentimes work with you on a later date for training. Doing this sooner rather than later will not hurt your cause. Sometimes they can't help, however most times they can...you just have to let them know. Good luck to ya.
  17. I'm stuck waiting to catch a flight back to DC, but I'm in sunny Savannah. And I'm downtown. And I'm drinking copious amounts of alcohol, while eating some Vinnie Van Go Go's pizza!
  18. I'll take some!
  19. I would have killed for 4.0...I only had 3.0. I guess that explains why I fly heavies now.
  20. Very sad to hear. Rest in peace, brother.
  21. I think just about all of our ipads have been issued out. Luckily we're in Phase II, and able to use them for FLIP as well. Used it this week in the jet on a local, and can say that it was so much better than that damn book with all of the paper falling out of it. As far as updating, we have a stand alone computer acting as a server that is connected to the squadron wifi only. Guys connect to the squadron wifi, then set up a sync on goodreader to the epubs drive. Once that's set up, you just hit the green sync button in goodreader and it scans it for anything new and downloads it. We've also set up collaborative files so that guys can post mission planning info and share it with other guys on the crew. Its worked great so far. I just wish the AF would come up with a better app for FLIP than that Pharo app. That thing blows.
  22. Don't you know the AF has too many people already? They are trying to dissuade people from joining by showcasing the ugly ones.
  23. I'm actually shocked that I haven't had to sign off an FCIF yet.
  24. Every 11-2-Vol3 I've flown with has said something to the effect that you cannot transport pets for space available. However, they've said you can if it's in conjunction with a PCS. He might have to fly as a duty passenger vice space A to qualify for large dog transport.
