The AF already has a very robust and ever-expanding manned ISR platform. Why don't they just fuel that fire a little more rather then build a new pipeline with a new asset? It doesn't make sense to me.

As a pilot and an engineer, I would think that for $2B a copy the B-2 would have an override switch that Joe could throw and then fly the old fashioned way. WTF.
-
This is gold baby, pure gold. And very true.

"Anyway, Italians an Brazilians are among the best pilots in the world. " Wow, I only slept for about 5 hours last night, but the Brazilians and Italians sure did make a lot of progress since I dozed off...

Try the portal. Also, make sure you've actually loaded your certificates from your cac into the activecard program. Right click on the system tray and open the program, then load/view certificates.

Just for the record, this very topic is getting a huge amount of attention right now. The current AF Times touches on it and quotes a study that the gap should be and likely will be narrowed and eliminated over the next few years. Booya.

I went to ERAU Daytona and graduated in 1999. I had a 4 year AFROTC ride, extended to 5 years and majored in Aero Engineering. It was excellent. The school is very well respected in the civilian world, and is always in the top 5 Aero schools in the country without a PhD offered (this includes service academies and some other very well-known schools). You won't get a better AE education, and if you like aviation, ERAU is the place to be. From English to History professors, everyone that teaches there knows that you are interested in aviation, and chances are good that they are also. There are other non-flying degrees to fall back on if you botch the AE program, but if you are a hard worker, have decent time management skills, and like math/science, there is no reason you won't do well. Drop me a line in you want to know more.

The CPO here at Hurlburt or Eglin would know best about the current situation. Not everything gets posted to USAjobs, especially if people already have someone in mind. CPO at the base you want to work can usually read between the lines a little better because they are right here. Also, there are a cubic crapload of contractor jobs in this area that are not GS. There are tons of research companies and lots of companies that are trying to get AFSOC attention, so don't limit your search to GS only. Once you are here in the area, you'll be able to network better and see what's available. Keep in mind that most civilian contract companies (and also many GS positions at Hurlburt) require a minimum secret, somtimes a TS, so be prepared for that.

Exactly right. Once again, I'm not advocating that married people get less money, just that single people get the same. I think it's funny to listen to the communists/socialists on this forum tell me that they're "entitled" to more money because they are married. Give me a break. You sound like every democrat I have ever met. You're not "entitled" to any more money than I am. The fact that you get more is the equivalent of food stamps and welfare, the more kids you have, the more you get.

Dude? I'm sorry do we know each other? I don't recall us ever meeting or becoming friends. Of course I knew of this complete injustice before I joined the AF, and I obviously still joined. That doesn't mean I think that it's ok. I thought complaining about this particular topic was pretty appropriate here, being a forum about SINGLE VS MARRIED PAY and all... Get married? Yeah that seems to solve all sorts of problems for people. Great advice, I'll get right on that.
-
You are correct, my BASE PAY is the same. My take home disposable income is not the same. It is less. Because I don't have dependants. Even though I work the same hours and do the same job as my fellow pilots. Health care, moving expenses, car driving expenses, are not money in my pocket. BAH is money in my pocket, and I get less of it then Joe Smith who is married only because he convinced a girl to be his wife and/or have his kids. That sucks and isn't fair. And don't pull the "I knew what I was getting into" routine and then spout off all the reasons why it sucks to be a military spouse. Either you knew or you didn't, and if you didn't, it's your own damn fault. And if you did and still went ahead anyway, you gave up the right to bitch to me about it.

Anyone else think that boom looks humongous on top of the viper?

I don't think the airlines care too much about IP time though, do they?

Should I report it? (Classic Thread!)

Wow. It's tough to figure out how you can actually post anything at all here anymore with M2's dick so far down your throat. Seriously, your question was stupid, and your response to the response to your stupid question: also stupid. Yet you continue to post stupid things over and over again, and contine to be ridiculed again and again. STFU. That's all you need to do. Just stop typing and start learning. -
Yeah but when you homos cross the pond 10 times a month that kind of makes up for it, don't you think?
-
We'll be gettin' freaky like in Abu Graib...
-
Dude, You're in a good position. AFPC and your bosses SHOULD try to take care of you by getting you your gate months before getting slapped with a non-flying job. So if you enter UPT as a junior captain, you won't have much of an opportunity to get the no-fly job until your ~15 year point.

Miss? Since when is there a defined dz when our guys are in gunfight? I've had dz's change coords 3-4 times inside the 20 because our guys are moving forward or back. Did you get your shit and use it to kill others and defend a position? Yes? Then it's on the dz.
-
So do Gunship drivers with theirs heads in their asses. Congratulations on being an idiot and clearly knowing nothing about GWOT. As it has been since 9/11 and previously, Gunships make headlines because you shoot and kill. That's some great shit and you guys do it better then anyone else. Considering my brother was one of the shooters on the ground you were helping in Iraq for the last 15 months, let me pass on my thanks and his praise for your actions there. Having said that, Talons (I and II) are constantly called upon to do things that others can't and won't do in GWOT. You're simply not paying attention or aren't in the loop on such matters if you think otherwise. Either way, it's an ignorant statement to say that the worthy things Talons are doing in GWOT are few and far between. There are hundreds of recent examples that aren't appropriate for this forum. Airdrop resupply to A-teams that are low on ammo and being overrun in a hot dz comes to the front of my mind (dropping HSLLADS and CDS at 250'-500', not orbiting at 10,000'). There are tons more. I don't need Foxnews to tell me that Talons are kicking ass and saving lives in GWOT. For that matter, slicks are doing so also. The point of my original post was that Talons are a pilots airplane. They are navigator centric because of the systems on the airplane and what we do with those systems. Low-level at 250 feet in the mountains and IMC at night takes a steady hand and a quick mind. Assaults to 3000' dirt strips in the middle of nowhere on a moonless night are a close second. Turning left? Sorry, not so much.
-
Umm, you guys do that pretty damn well by yourselves.
-
The T2 is a pilots airplane. Buy hey, if you want to fly the AF version of Nascar, go gunpig.

I'm sure things have changed in 8+ years since I commissioned through ROTC at ERAU. I was an Aero Eng major and it was very obvious when I saw the AFROTC senior class ladder that almost regardless of your GPA, your major was a big player in the overall rating. Guys that were pulling in a 4.0 in a JV degree program were overall ranked below others that had a tech degree and a 3.0. The formula is easy to manipulate. The CC knows where he wants each kid to end up in the overall ranking, and all he needs to do is write an excel formula to figure out what that specific kid's CC ranking needs to be to get him there. I'm pretty sure that even an Aero Science major might be able to do that... If you like science/physics/math/computers follow your heart and kick ass. If I had majored in a different "easier" degree I would have done quite shitty in school because I would have wanted to shoot myself after class every day.

Sweet ride. We should be buying these instead of J's.

Epubs are/were awesome. Hurlburt recently decided that no more epubs for stan/eval testing. Oh yeah, and your hard copies can't be highlighted because you might be cheating... BS.

I think it's the real deal. We don't know how long it took to stop, or what the brakes looked like when they were done. My car could probably stop that plane given enough runway and if I didn't give a shiz about the brakes afterward. It still look like a cool commercial to me.
