I think that's a little bit different than the Berkeley deal. I wouldn't want marines running around downtown shooting blanks and practicing urban warfare. Granted, the mayor should've been informed days prior and it could've been handled better... but I can't really blame him on the decision.

If you sign up and don't get selected, yes you can go to UPT. If you sign up and don't make it through the program, no you can't go back to UPT. If you've already made up your mind to accept the ENJJPT slot and are just looking for more information, I would suggest focusing on people's posts who have been through Sheppard. ENJJPT IP and FURY220 are good sources of information. There will always be dudes arguing and whining over UPT vs ENJJPT, Academy vs ROTC, fighter vs heavy, Yankees vs Red Sox... ignore it because neither side will convince the other side who's right.

I lived in Northpark on Missle Rd. With a rommate, we were banking about 300 a month each. The apartments are decent and the back section is brand new. The ladies in the front office are pretty good about helping out since there are a ton of military folks. When we canceled our lease to move on base it only costs 75% of the next months rent. Not a bad deal considering we jumped ship on 7 months worth of a contract. I agree with renting in the neighborhoods on Missle. Very convenient and nice size houses. That being said... After the first several months of tweets, living more than 30 seconds from the gate isnt a big deal. One of my flight mates lives downtown right across the street from a bar. You don't have to sleep at the squadron every night to do well in flight school.

That's the way I understand it and that's pretty much how the CC made it sound in the commander's call. I'm sure there are guys who would like the option, but I would definitely consider that a rarity. We knew going to Sheppard locked us into 38s. I think I remember signing some kind of form saying I understood that ENJJPT meant only fighter/bomber option. My point is, you're right, but you'd be hard pressed to find someone who considers themselves "stuck." As far as the wing cc making these changes, I don't think this was all his doing. The previous CC made comments about the new options coming down the chain months ago. The new CC seems to be a great guy. Definitely had a good time at the roof stomp when he moved in. Last thing. The guy who is going another track isn't getting treatment unavailable to others. He's just the first one to catch the new program.

Unless you're concerned about an ROTC scholarship. Maybe it's changed in the past two years, but my class was the last to have any non-tech scholarships. That being said, I completely agree with choosing a major you enjoy. Many of my friends would've rather paid for college than be a 5 year engineering major.

We actually did have a guy wash out of Tweets for airsickness. They told us it was damn near impossible, but he did it. He puked on 11 of 12 flights and 5 of 7 chair rides. The kid obviously had more heart than most because he stuck it out until there weren't any options left. He was skinny to begin with and still lost over 15 pounds before he left. I always felt bad for him. The IPs took it as easy as they could but the syllabus would eventually demand a stab demo or G-ex attempt. It was a real accomplishment the first time he only filled up one bag. I don't think there's ever been someone so happy to wash out.

You can't hate exclusively on Ford. These Tundra commercials drive me crazy. Same kind of thing; possible, not bloody likely. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9n5cImqAtjY

I prefer to take a more hopeful and optomistic look at the outcome of our campaign. Nurse Corps: We're still waiting for you.

We bought a couple of those for beer drinkin entertainment. $30 at Wal-Mart and damn near indestructable. You get 5-10 minutes of flight time for 15-20 minutes of charging. Perfect for flying around during commercials and charging during the show or movie. It took a few minutes to get the hang of but it's really easy and never left a mark on the walls. I knocked some kind of porcelain statue over that broke, but nothing too serious. Highly recommended.

I can't tell you exactly what AFPC will say, but i'm sure the AF would appreciate you not wasting hundreds of thousands of dollars at UPT before deciding to drop out. We just lost a guy in our flight and he's been given his choice of new AFSC's, within reason obviously. If your heart isn't in flying, you'll be miserable at UPT even if you do stick with it. I can't imagine working and studying this hard for something I don't want to do. Just my 2 cents.

loosen your belt, here comes a tri delt just thought i'd chime in. i was at little rock for about 6 months and never saw a girl that looked like that, including the chicks downtown. sucks

So they should change the honor code to say we will not lie, steal, or cheat on important things? Maybe the leadership is taking it overboard, but they broke the rules and got caught. Sucks I completely agree. Whether or not they should be allowed to drink is irrelivant. That decision has already been made. My point was that the rules are strict and if you don't like them then don't go to the academy. If a person chooses to go then they accept the rules and don't have room to complain when they break them. Every scandal in the AF is publicly broadcast. Read the threads on the A-10 fratricide and the TI in playboy. Nobody is specifically picking on the kids.

No sympathy from me. They chose to go to "college" at the academy. If they didn't know what they were getting into then they didn't do enough research. If you want to look at porn and drink your weight in beer then go to a normal university. As far as the cheating, there's no excuse at any school. 1) you're dumb for doing it 2) you're dumb for getting caught. I don't know if the academy will do something like this, but i think most colleges suspend the student for a semester and yank scholarships. Hopefully a semester at home will be a good enough slap in the face. my $.02

Question: Answer: If you see this chick with her tits hangin out, you will never take her seriously again. A TI that isn't taken seriously is about as useful as a screen door on a submarine. You can complain about shoe clerks taking over all you want, but lines have to be drawn somewhere. Reflective belts: shoe clerk Not posing nude for a national magazine in uniform: reasonable request

My wife left for her first deployment right after Thanksgiving. Since we're newlyweds spending our first Christmas apart, I got a lot of this from family back home. I just started playing into it for a little self amusement. When people would say, "Where's Amy?" I'd say, "She left me," and wait for the priceless look that followed. Then I'd say, "She's in Iraq," and they wouldn't know how to react. They would kinda laugh, but not really... I enjoyed those situations greatly.

In my personal experience, navy scholorships were easier to get. They practically shoved them down our throats. Maybe that has changed or maybe that has absolutely no bearing on your decision. Just something to think about if you need someone else to pick up the tab at ERAU. Also in my personal experience, the people in navy ROTC going to flight school were definitely not in the top of their class. I don't know how their cadidiates are selected, but it seemed a lot easier than the AF. I hear navy flight school is more fun, though. I say 'in my personal experience' for that exact reason... this is just what I saw. Research as much as you can. There are lots of things to think about besides which pretty airplane is best. Good luck with your decision.

-Know the FTM cover to cover before you go -I folded all my clothes, including socks and underwear, and put them neatly in ziploc bags. It sounds overkill but when everyone else was scrambling to unpack, i just pulled stuff out and put it right in the drawer. -Go to church on sunday. staying in the dorm just means you get to shine shoes or vacuum or do some other BS work. -Have the balls to speak up and do what you think needs to be done. Even more importantly, know when to STFU. Request first rotation flight commander if you think you've prepared well enough. The first few days are a cluster anyway and it'll give you a chance to set the bar. If you do well enough, you'll be done with your leadership position after the first week. -Take it seriously. You'll have all kinds of people tell you it sucks and don't even worry about it. BS. FT is the most important thing you've done thus far in your 'military career.' It'll determine what jobs you get as a POC and will play a role in your categorization. Don't be an a$$hole... just take it seriously. -Bond with every single person in your flight. You're only there 4 weeks so don't let stupid cliques form and never talk bad about anyone to other flight mates. It'll divide the flight and bite you in the a$$. Don't think of it as a competition. If you prepare, take care of your flight mates, and have a good attitude then the rankings will take care of themselves. -Know when it's time to goof off and laugh. Every chance you get to lighten the mood, take it. Everyone will appreciate it. That's enough from me. PM if you'd like to hear more ramblings. Good luck.

Would have in that case.

I agree with everyone so far, but I did hear a pretty convincing argument in favor of selling the 22. I'm not an engineer, but I've heard reverse engineering the jet is close to impossible. There are features supposedly designed into the system that keep it from being taken apart and tinkered with in order to figure out what makes it work. The second thing is that the avionics are arguably the most important technological advancement. Without avionics and a targeting pod, the f-16 is just a jet. If we sell the 22, the important stuff will be left out. The third point is something I'm not very familiar with. Apparently the F-15s we sold to Iran, i think it was, were magically unflyable when they were needed. If the 22s were used against us or in a way we didn't approve of, a little red button could disable them before they ever left the ground. So if they are sold without avionics, can't be reverse engineered, and could "accidentally" malfuction on the ramp whenever we wished... why not export a few? [ 28. How do IPs deal with cocky little shits that, despite being a pain in the ass, do well on tests and sorties? I've met several aces-to-be that already have enough flight time to interview with the airlines, but a personality that makes me want to slam my head in a car door. The basic theme of everyone's advice is that having a good attitude can save your butt. What happens to the folks who are good at everything except having a descent personality?
